  1. Nice return for Pomeranz. Another guy @Chicago White Sox and I endlessly campaigned for this offseason. Guy sucks, but looks like Giants turned him into a nice prospect in Dubon.
  2. My guess is the Sox had no intention of spending the remainder of the 2019 international money (for whatever reason, and if there is something to criticize here, it would be that), so they shipped off Jones to save the pro rated amount of his 2019 salary ($1.75M or so) and his $1.25M buyout for 2020 since they did in fact plan to buy him out. May as well get something for what is going to be nothing. But yah, I guess I get those that are mad about not spending the international money we were allotted, but I think that was pretty clear when July 2 came and went. I know there are so guys who could still pop up, so I guess I get the frustration in that respect. Just don't think its a big deal.
  3. Well, the money wasn't really spent here at all. If anything, money was saved.
  4. Faria has fallen on some tough times, but he had a 3.43 ERA across 87 IP (14 starts) as a rookie in 2017. 84/31 K:BB ratio, 1.17 WHIP. He is nothing super exciting, but he's definitely the exact type of arm the Sox should be trying to find to give an audition to in the rotation the rest of the season. Maybe you strike gold.
  5. Yah, it would. I agree that is disappointing, and said as much.
  6. Ya, that's right. They can only trade him to that club. I don't think they have the option to pull him back. My bad on that.
  7. I just think its hilarious that you refuse to admit you're wrong on this topic.
  8. Ugh. No. That is not how it works. A guy cannot be traded while he is on waivers (unless you trade him to the team that claims him). The process is: 1) DFA player 2) Either place immediately on waivers, or attempt to trade during 7 day window, or release. 3) If acceptalbe trade is not found during 7 day period, place said player on waivers in hopes he clears and can be outrighted to AAA, or release
  9. Not to rehash that convo...but you're wrong on that man. Kemp just hadn't been placed on waivers yet, as the Astros had 7 days to make a decision. If he was, and was claimed (and he definitely would have been claimed by an AL) club, the Astros would have been only able to trade him to that club, or pull him back off waivers.
  10. Cubs get him for Martin Maldanado. @soxfan2014 another example of a DFA'd player not going immediately on waivers.... ?
  11. Faria legit wouldn't make it past the Tigers. Every single team in the AL would probably claim him. And yah, Aguilar wouldn't make it through either, but that one isn't quite as embarrassing of a take.
  12. HAHAHAHA. The Sox weren't in on him dude. They didn't trade this guy to the Rangers. The Rangers agreed to sign him whenever they did, they just needed additional INTL funds before the deal was official.
  13. Lol. The Rangers probably agreed to terms with this Lora cat years ago. His signing has absolutely no bearing on the White Sox what so ever.
  14. Nightengale just tweeted that this deal would normally be done in August because "each player would have easily cleared waivers". Lol, Bob. How in the world does this guy get paid to cover baseball?
  15. Wouldn't mind taking on Aaron Sanchez if the Jays basically looking to dump him.
  16. I would take Faria in this rotation for the balance of this year for sure. Definitely would have done this for Abreu. But Aguilar is cheaper and under control thru 2022, so probably was not on the table for Abreu.
  17. Nate Jones was going to be bought out in 3 months. They got 2 scratch off tickets and saved the rest of Nate's 2019 salary and his buy-out. Had they not traded him, they get nothing AND the international money still goes to waste. I understand the frustration in not spending the international $, but we already knew that. This is not new news. There is no one left to spend it on at this point.
  18. I dont disagree that it is disappointing, but once you know you're not going to spend it, you may as well use it as currency.
  19. Lol, took about 3 minutes for the cheap narrative to come out in full force.
