  1. He was one of those athletes that got busted with some pretty racist tweets before he was a pro.
  2. Yoan4Moan has made it abundantly obvious that he is Cubs troll. You got that much right. But Jayce Fry isn’t really a good guy. He’s kinda of a scumbag that just happens to be talented at throwing a baseball with his left arm. He’s also made that abundantly clear.

Not to be a prick, but this isn't really how the process will work. If Yolmer is going to stay with the Sox, he'll sign a 1 year deal before being non-tendered (what you called released). I suppose its possible the Sox non-tender him and then he ends up resigning with them a month or two later when he realizes he isn't getting paid more elsewhere, but thats unlikely. He'll either take a 1 year at reduced rate with the Sox BEFORE getting non-tendered or he'll get non-tendered. Or worst case sceneario, Sox let him go the arb and pay him at least 2x what he's really worth.
  4. I'd still be on board with something in the range of 3 years and $15M for McCann this offseason. Not sure he takes that, but you never know. Anything over like 3/$18M IMO, it makes more sense for the Sox to just go to arb with with him in 2020 and see where things shake out.
  5. Yah. You answered it with your 2nd question.
  6. Nitpicky, but he doesn't really have an option left. This was his last option year, and he isn't getting optioned again this season. He'll need to clear waivers next year if he doesn't break camp with the Sox. Along with him in that category will be Marshall, Fulmer, and Vieria. Technically Osich too, but no chance he isn't outrighted after the season.

I think Sox offer him a take it leave it $2.5-$3M 1 year deal. Take it or you'll be nontendered - because as you said, he isn't getting a pay cut via arb. Yolmer is a major leaguer (ie: even if Sox cut him, he'll be in MLB next season), but he's also incredibly replaceable.
  8. Why in the world would be move our very good young controllable long term SS to the OF (a position he hasn't played in professional bal) for a 30 year old Gregorius? Its an outside the box thought, but its pretty dang farfetched.
  9. This was WELLLLLL after Harper had signed with the Phillies.
  10. Sure. Just doesn't seem like a wise use of resources. If the Sox signed Rendon, played him at 2B and moved Madrigal for a young stud SP, sure that works. But the Sox future IF is set IMO. The $ will be spent on starting pitching, a bullpen anchor, DH/1B type and perhaps a RF (I see them trading for the RF, personally).
  11. For like the 50th time, Rendon should not even be discussed. There is a 0% chance the Sox are moving Moncada again. ZERO.
  12. Right. 2020 could be super fun, but it isn't time for primetime. Things could go great and they could find themselves in the thick of things, but I am not really expecting that. Over .500 baseball would be great. We're talking about potentially as few as 15 games. Chances are higher Robert spends more time on the IL next season than the amount he'll miss because he's taking at bats in Charlotte. There is no quantifiable evidence that Robert being up for the next few weeks would make any difference in next season's results. Shit some are projecting the decision to affect his whole career. Its non sense. Madrigal getting called up this year would be a serious rush job and wasn't even a point of discussion until a couple weeks ago. Most of you just simply won't believe it until you see it. I get it. If Sox go through the next two offseasons without signing a $100M player, I may just as big of skeptic. But for now, there is no evidence that the White Sox are now operating with one of the smallest payrolls in the league. The core is there. That is why they went through this painful process. They are going to add. They have legitimately a metric fuck ton of money to spend. They aren't just going to throw their hands up and spend it on shitty veterans just because Manny Machado signed elsewhere.
  13. So surprising to see you take the contrarian everything will go wrong stance!
  14. Good thing we've got him for 4 more entire seasons after this one. Waves of talent. It'll be nice when Moncada leaves for free agency the Sox aren't forced to rebuild again because an impatient front office brought all the prospects up at the same time. Instead, we'll still be really fucking good even if Moncada leaves for $250M payday.
  15. Lol - the guy can only throw a limited amount of innings next year!! So the choice is start him in April when he hasn't faced batters in a real game in 18 months and then shut him down in August for the year. Or start him in the bigs in June after he's built up his endurance in AAA some and then let him pitch unrestricted through the end of the season. Oh and with the 2nd option, you get a year of control back! Its such an easy decision for me. Thankfully, I think it will be for the Sox as well.
  16. Dude, you're such a blowhard.
  17. I agree - it is great. Kopech is going to throw at most 130 or so innings next year. I would much prefer those innings be in August and September than April and May. Getting a year back is just gravy.
  18. Direct quote from Hahn: "At some point next year you can expect Kopech to join us. I just don't know when he is going to be on the major league active roster. His rehab has gone wonderfully, he is perfectly on pace and is going to be in spring training without restriction, and he is going to be over 18 months removed from having thrown a pitch in anger. So let's let the kid develop and when he is ready, he is going to be back." But, sure. No chance!
  19. Lol, ok, Are you referring to starting Kopech in AAA or signing 2 SP?
  20. With Hahn hinting that Kopech probably starts the year in AAA, there is pretty good chance they sign 2 SP IMO. However, I definitely think the 2nd SP would be more of depth piece that could be moved to pen. Wood/Wacha/Nova type.
  21. He does get injured alot. He is also super fucking good when he is healthy. And you could maybe get him on a Charlie Morton-ish deal like 2/$30 or 3/$45 type deal. With Kopech joining the rotation at some point in May or June (if not earlier) and Rodon coming back and Cease still on some sort of inning restriction, having a guy like Ryu that may need spend a month on the DL isn't the end of the world if they sign 2 SP (for this example, lets say Ryu and Wood). OD Rotation: Giolito, Ryu, Cease, Lopez, Wood Rotation by June: Giolito, Ryu, Kopech, Cease, Lopez....Wood Rotation by whenever Rodon returns: Giolito, Ryu, Kopech, Cease, Lopez, Wood, Rodon Options....
  22. yah, who want the guy with a career era below 3.00 across over 700 innings!
  23. I just really don't see the Bumgarner leaving NL, let alone the NL West. He's a decent fallback option, but he would be towards the back of my top 5. 1. Cole 2. Strasburg 3. Ryu 4. Wheeler 5. Bumgarner 6. Keuchel 7. Kyle Gibson 8. Alex Wood (tho I love him as the 2nd signing if we one of the top 4 guys on my list) 9. Odorizzi 10. Cole Hamels
  24. They didn't shed all this payroll to simply become one of the lowest spending teams in the game, either.
  25. You just listed 3 DHs. You got Leury in RF?
