Draft Day 3 Thread, rounds 11-40 (Tracker in OP)
Somewhat ignorant question for those in the know....how do the slot values work for rounds 11-40? It looks like the slots go away after the first 10 rounds - how much money does each team have to spend on rounds 11-40, and can they allocate that however they please? Thanks for the info.

From that link on Maldonado: Kelvin Maldonado is a 2018 SS/IF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Santa Isabel, PR who attends Puerto Rico BB Academy. Nice athletic build, very projectable physically. 6.54 runner, has very solid actions on defense, moves to the ball with light feet and smooth balanced footwork, easy athletic actions, has a quick release and makes accurate throws, played very well on the left side in games and showed better arm strength in games than in drills. Right handed hitter, tall straight stance, hits from a still start with limited lower half use, opposite field oriented swing but did turn on one ball well in games, has hitting tools when he lets the barrel go but tended to get too mechanical in his approach, has the physical tools to continue to improve. Defense and speed will carry him until his bat comes around.

What's the big negative on Singer? I've read that he may not have a ton of upside and sort is what he is already. Is that due to his arm angle, or lack of athleticism or what? I've wanted the Sox to draft a bat for awhile, so I am not necessarily on board for Singer, just curious why some of the resident draft gurus seem so down on him.

Davidson back, Skole/Gonzalez to AAA
Very likely Skole's only MLB action he'll get. Maybe he'll be back in September for the Sox, but I doubt he'll be back again after this season.

Palka
Keep running him out there everyday in 2018 and see what you have at the end of the season.

Cool, thanks. Haven't followed the mocks all that closely the last couple weeks, but hadn't seen him outside of the top 5 much at all.

Did Singer kick your dog? I personally want a bat, but what's your beef with Singer to drop him out of your top 10?

FS: We've Suffered Enough - Call Up Eloy
Yeah, next season. Putting your big boy pants on 1/3 on the way through a 55-107 season seems shortsighted, and very well could cost you a generational talent because you won 3-5 extra games. But fair enough.

FS: We've Suffered Enough - Call Up Eloy
I think they would "push" them because they'r ready to get the next core of players all on the field together, learning to win and taking their lumps together in preparation for the next several seasons. I also don't think calling Collins and Dunning up in June or July next year is really "pushing it". They're both in AA right now, and doing very well. Signing free agents that fit into the future core and developing prospects are not mutually exclusive. I don't expect the Sox to sign Machado, but getting him a plugging him in at 3B for the next 6-8 seasons does a lot to improve the future outlook. A true CF wouldn't be all bad either, maybe a guy like AJ Pollock. I don't think those types of signings hamper the future, though I think Machado makes more sense than Pollock long term.
