  1. As much as I would love to get Samardjiza, I don't think the Sox can afford him and they are in no position to start trading away their prospects anyway.
  2. So a new Star Wars trailer came out today. And no to Jay Bruce, if I want anyone from the Reds it's Joey Cueto.
  3. Hope this is true, if he has a good first half with the Sox he could be traded for some good prospects. The move makes a lot if sense.
  4. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) It does not seem to be too far out there of an idea as it appears it could be a match. Boston needs starting pitching and has a surplus of outfielders while the Sox would like to trade Danks and need an outfielder or two. Boston and Chicago have made trades in recent years so who knows? Yeah, sobriety and middle age is catching up to me quicker than I thought. I am not a fan of that trade per as, but I think that the Sox should look into trading Danks at the deadline, I think that Danks is gonna have a strong year in 2015, and he could be valuable to some teams (Yankees come to mind) at the deadline.
  5. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) If all he's on is a minor league contract then it wouldn't be the worst thing to have him down in AAA. Maybe some time in the minors to build confidence could be a good thing. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) at a very low salary, an invite, no guarantees, but i will still try to fill his position with another pitcher. a strong maybe. I think that if he's invited to spring training and performs very well and worthy of a spot in the bull pen then you have to give it to him. I think that there is some potential there in Belisario, he could be a good weapon to have in the pen. If he starts the season in AAA, then he could work on some things and build up some confidence like 787 said. I think Belisario could be a good 7th inning guy, if all things work out.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) Hopefully he still has to get non-tendered next week. Not sure if that's how it works now that he's off the 40-man. Anyway, be on your way. I wouldn't mind seeing BelisaRio back as a spring training invite, he was pitching a role he wasn't used to out of the bullpen and he had a lot of bad luck.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Or you could just give money, acquire a slightly inferior player in Asdrubal Cabrera or Stephen Drew, and keep your prospect of the future. The Dodgers are in win now mode. Inthinkbthwy can part with a prospect if it helps them go over the hump in the postseason. Alexi helps them in that regard.
  8. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) If Corey Seagar is involved in this deal, I would be thrilled! That would be a huge coup for the Sox. He'd have our third baseman of the future.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) Let me ask you this... What pieces could the Cubs give you that you would accept for Sale? Bryant, Russel/Almora, McKinney and a Dylan Cease. I have a question for everyone, when do you think the Sox window for contention opens? I would say 2016.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 02:10 AM) I think it's more of a let's be competitive now move. From a different angle it actually allows the Sox to trade Alexei, keep building, while still fielding a decent team. As they know, this 63 and 73 win stuff is unacceptable to Sox fans, rebuilding or not. I agree, trading Alexi would make sense depending on the package of prospects the Sox got back. Remember the team does have options that can fill in at short till a guy like Tim Anderson is ready. Alexi trade could bring in ML ready prospects that fill positions of need for Sox.
  11. The trade of Alexi, to either the Mets or Dodgers.
  12. Since there is no need for the Sox to trade Alexi, I hope they can get a top prospect for him.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:40 AM) Sorry, lol, I had to. Please explain to me why you disagree, using words like an intelligent person.
  14. I like the bullpen additions so far. Is Montas the closer of the future?
  15. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing Belisario back as a middle reliever, but he has to work on his command.
  16. I hope they don't sign him, I don't want guys who have any connection to PEDs on the team.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 04:54 PM) Yeah, I disagree that this is a guy that the Sox should look at this early. They need to explore a lot of other options and if LaRoche ends up signing elsewhere between now and then, so be it. However, if he's available come about January 15th and the Sox could use an extra bat, I have no problem giving him $8-10 million his way on a 1 year deal. There's no way I'd give him 2 years guaranteed, but an option of some type is definitely possible for a second year. I would wait to sign him as well and he fills a position of need. And Adam LaRoache is a good defensive player, he won a gold glove in 2013, and if I remember correctly I think that he was a finalist this year too.
  18. Really want LaRoche, I would sign him to a one year deal with an option for a second. He would really upgrade the team's defense, and he is a left handed bat.
  19. If the Sox don't land Moncoda, I think that they should go after Bryan Emery, who is a left handed hitting OF from the DR and could'nt come to terms with the Yankees or Padres during July 2nd. http://padrespublic.com/sacrifice-bunt/pad...-sign-the-rest/
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) I think it's crazy that some fans think the Sox could get Seager for Alexei, which would never happen and others are willing to take Schebler for Alexei. These are two way different ends of the spectrum. The Dodgers really aren't much of a match with the Sox in terms of prospects. Even if they felt inclined to move Pederson, they could get better value of moving him for someone other than Alexei. Id give them some cash and one of our lower profile prospects along with Alelxi to get Seager.
  21. I am hoping it's Seager because that would solve a lot of problems. He's a left handed bat, a run producer who has solid contact skills that allow him to hit for a high average and should be able to hit 25 homers a season with a ton of doubles and he plays 3rd base.
  22. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Nov 15, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) Why, exactly? Not that I'm saying you shouldn't be, but what specifically have you seen/read/heard to give you this feeling? I read up on him before the draft and even more so after the draft and a lot of sites said that he was an advanced hitter deposited being a two way prospect in high school.
  23. I would live to the Sox to sign either Johnson, Masterson, Hammels, or Brett Anderson. If they stay healthy, they could be huge assets at the deadline
  24. I am not surprised to see that there are no impact bats in this class, although I am high on Jake Jarvis.
