  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 11:23 PM) I think the yanks have a better group of prospects, or should I say a deeper pool of prospects. The Mets have strong top line prospects and the Yankees have better prospects in the lower levels.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) most definitely. but I think the sox need that starting pitcher in the beginning of the season. I think that 2015, like the second half of 2013 and the entirety of 2014 is all about collecting assets, and that 2016 is going to be the year where the team starts competing again. I think that the Sox should be around .500 next year, and that they should be trying to acquire as much talent as possible because there are still some holes on the team and the Royals and the Tigers arent going anywhere. If the Sox have to endure a slow first few months of the season because Syndergaard needed time in the minors, then I am all for it because the team is going to be better in the long run.
  3. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) I would love to snatch Clarkin away from the Yanks but there's no way the Yanks give up a kid like him for a 33 year old SS. I wonder if the Sox could get JR Murphy along with Greene? Mateo is a want
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 09:37 AM) I wouldn't count on Sydergaard in the majors just yet. last season he took a little step back in his quest to make it to the majors. something out his pitches and command. I don't quite remember. I think the article was in MILB under Mets. I'm just talking about down the line. I think that he should start the season in the minors and be called up around the all star break, or be given 100IP in the majors.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 08:56 AM) not a bad idea. Imagine this rotation: Sale Syndergaard Quintana Rodon Noessi They could even make someone like a Quintana available, or one of the guys at the minors.
  6. For Syndergaard and a low level prospect or INTL $, I would send the Mets: Alexi and Chris Beck.
  7. I think Tulo goes to St. Louis or he remains in Colorado at least till the ASB. I think Castro remains a Cub, I personally think it's Baez who gets traded out of their crop of young players. Castro has brome a voice and leader in that clubhouse to go alongside Rizzo.
  8. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 12:57 AM) Which is exactly why Hahn is able to ask high, and hope someone takes it. Sox have all the leverage in trade talks because there is no pressing need to trade Alexei. He's not being pushed by anyone and his contract is team friendly. Any deal Hahn takes you would pretty much have to think favors the Sox. Watch as Tule gets traded to somewhere not named New York, and the Cubs hold on to Castro, I can see the Mets breaking down.
  9. Rick Hahn is to Christopher Nolan, as Kwn Williams is to Joel Shumacker.
  10. I would put Adolfo in the 6 to 8 range.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) Sweet. Matt Harvey or Yasiel Puig or Derek Jeter. Deal. Jeter's retired.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 07:42 PM) What are the odds of 9 sixteen year olds all panning out? The odds of 9 22 year olds are pretty bad. LA prospects have a lower shot of getting to the majors but the you have to realize that the Yankees signed more than those 9 kids, those 9 just got the giant bonuses. But regardless of the odds of them panning out or not? They brought in a major wave of talent into the system. If 3 or 4 of those prospects pan out, the investment was well worth it.
  13. I would love for the Sox to go all out on the July 2nd market, those 9 kids that the Yankees signed are going to be the next wave of great Yankees prospects (If they pan out), the Yankees went to having one of the weakest systems in baseball to having one of the strong in one day. I would love for the Sox do that, but it won't happen.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) Group of players. If they went all in on Vlad Jr, I would not be upset. He may be big now but he's going to slim down as he goes through puberty, he is only 15. I hope they dropped in on Kevin Maitan, the top 2016 prospect and the next big time July 2nd prospect.
  15. Would guys rather the Sox allocate their funds across a group of players like in 2014, or go after one stud prospect like in 2013? They should have around $3.2 Million to spend.
  16. I'm going to go jump off a bridge. Goodbye
  17. I think moving to AA, could force Hawkins to be a better contact hitter because the Barons play in a way more pitcher friendly park than WS does. And I think that the time he has spent and will spend with Severson and Thome in instructs and spring training will pay dividends for him and his development.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Why is it when Maddon lost 101 and 96 games his first 2 years, that is considered solid, but when Robin had a couple of years like that, he is a dope? THIS I personally think that Maddon sits for a year and then joins Freidman in Los Angeles.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 22, 2014 -> 11:15 PM) Question, does the 2015 draft is affect or is it after 2015 draft? the reason is, if this offseason is not going to be affected then why the hell not? I will admit I an really lost with the cba and its rules and timeline. This offseason is protected for lack of a better word, but I was talking more about July 2nd, 2016. If the Sox do pull off a Yankeee' like spending spree and spend $8M to $10M on INTL amateurs, whats the worst that can happen, they loose some INTL draft picks? Disagree or agree with what they did on July 2nd, but the Yankees brought in a major wave of talent. Im sure that some teams are having this discussion. Thoughts?
  20. Question of the day? With the current CBA set to expire on 12/1/2016, and with things pointing towards an international draft, should the Sox go all out on INTL FA's like the Yankees did this past July 2nd?
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 22, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) really nice list. I am surprise you didn't mention Walker Buehler. many mock draft like him at the 6-8 pick. for the life of I do not know why? oh my opinion only. For me its: Aiken, Rodgers (I would place him at 2B), Mautella, Tucker, and Cameron. Not too many of the college guys impress me.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 02:26 PM) First, Sox have long term solution at 1B and his name is Jose Abreu. Second, Kyle Tucker is impressive, 6-4 175, he certainly can put on more weight to his frame. He runs a 6.7 60 which is pretty fast, and has been clocked at 89 from the outfield. As of right now, he is being mocked toward the middle to end of the 1st round. Lastly, there are 4 kids I'm looking at. Daz Cameron and and Ashe Russell as more long term. And Carson Fulmer and Walker Buehler, both these kids can possibly come in right away and help out the team. My 2 favorites are the Vandy boys Buehler and Fulmer Abreu is going to be 28 going next year, LDF suggested that the team should have a 1B prospect ready for 4 years down the line.
  23. QUOTE (LDF' de='Oct 17, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) i agree with most and would like to add. if the draft comes around, if 2 equal prospects are there, pitcher or positional player, who to pick?? the sox have a very good foundation for the future pitching. sox needs a catcher a certified catcher prospect. sox need more outifelders and the sox are in need a 1 base prospects something like 4-5 yrs project. the one thing we don't know yet is the development of the int's prospect that the sox drafted, beside Adolfo. With all thing being equal, I would say take the position player because its a safer bet to reach the majors, and due to the current state of free agency where teams are signing their homegrown talent to long term extensions, elite position players are getting harder to come by in the market so its crucial to develop your own homegrown and give that presidence over pitching. I believe that good pitching can beat good pitching everytime, but pitching is the most overrated commodity in baseball. We are in what people are calling the age of the pitcher in this post steroid world, its important to yield a strong lineup. Kyle Tucker is the guy I want at #8, smooth and compact left handed swing, easy power and he has all 5 tools and unlike a lot of Sox prospects, his hit tool is his best tool. (I would love for the Sox to be able to draft Brady Aiken dont get me wrong.) I think the Sox have to start developing long term solutions at: 2B, 3B, C, LF, and 1B. I like what we have brewing internationally, we got a stud in Amado Nunez and we have some interesting prospects on the DSL team and I can wait till they come stateside.
