I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad philosophy, not going over 5 years for pitchers. I think that if that Sox want to land Cole, they have to give him a crazy AAV and maybe go a sixth year.

How many games and opportunities has Renteria cost the Sox with his terrible lineup construction. He has to go. He’s been great with helping develop the players but he’s awful when it comes to maximizing the talents of the guys on the roster and he’s terrible when it comes to in game decisions. 12 strikeouts and only one walk. The Sox are 25th in team OBP with .308. The Sox are 29th in total walks with 241, only the Marlins have less. The Sox are 9th in strikeouts.

I don’t get or see that at all. He’s someone who invest a lot into the community too. He’s certainly done his part to make the Sox revenant again and all he had to do was be himself. So might be just you on that one.

If it was someone from the inside, it would’ve been announced in the press release that announced Hostetler’s promotion/change/whatever.

Regarding who’s taking over, the longer this takes to be announced, the more likely we’re looking at an outside hire.

Pro scouting has been a major weakness for the org for a very long time, I like the idea of the Sox putting Hostetler there. Hopefully they go outside the org to replace him as Dir. of Amateur scouting.

Seeing the progress of Moncada, Anderson and James McCann to a degree, I have no problem with Severson as I want to see him work with Eloy, Madrigal and Robert but what is his overall hitting philosophy? Because it would be nice to see the team take more walks but maybe that comes down to the guys on the roster.

I’m very intrigued by him. I’m not expecting much from him this year in terms of his stat line. Coming from Mississippi, he probably has never faced talent like this before and he’s very raw. I’m curious to see what instructs does for him.

I know Anderson is out but Rick’s inability or unwillingness to optimize his lineup is indefensible. Why is Reed batting ahead of Eloy? Why is Collins, someone with absolutely zero speed, batting ninth?

Am I alone in thinking that Robert has the highest ceiling in the system? He’s plays up the middle in CF, he’s super toolsy with all five of his tools above average at the very least and looks to be an offensive force. I think he’s up in September.
