  1. If Avi keeps hitting, the only things I want addressed are a #3 RHP and SS
  2. I would almost rather give May a shot and then use that AJax money towards signing a guy like Cervelli
  3. Just get this one tonight and the rest of the weekend is feeling pretty good
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 6, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) Is Ray one of those toolsy type players that the Sox were known for drafting 5-10 years ago? No.
  5. QUOTE (aryzner @ May 5, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) I feel like this dead horse has been beaten so much that you can't even recognize it was a horse anymore.
  6. They will sprint to the podium if Ray is there
  7. Preface this by saying sample size, but looking at his numbers, there are a lot of positives to his game right now. He has the best ISO, wRC+, and SLG% of his career so far this season all with a .260 BABIP. In addition, he's seen a drop in his GB% while seeing relatively big jumps in his FB% and hard hit %. Still want to see these numbers stay consistent over a couple months, but I think this is something to be somewhat excited about. If he is starting to put it together, that's a big boost for this team.

    Lawrie

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 6, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) After last night's game, Lawrie now has a very impressive 14.5% BB rate. What's even more impressive is that in the first 14 games of the season he had just one BB. Since that point his walk rate has been an insane 25.8%. Obviously that is unsustainable because that exceeds even peak Frank Thomas numbers but it's still nice to see as one of Lawrie's downfalls coming into the year was his low walk and lack of patience. Coming into the season his career BB rate was 6.1%. He could go his next 161 PAs without drawing a walk and still be at his career mark. The big question is whether this is by design or a just a fluky occurrence. He's put together some really good at bats from everything I've seen. I think he's only chased a high fastball or two, but otherwise his approach has been really sound at the plate. I think the uptick in BB% might end up being real. It will definitely regress a little from where it is now, but I still think he finishes the season with his career best rate. On a side note, is anyone else surprised Lawrie hasnt been tried in the 2 hole yet? I realize it's a "if it's not broke, don't fix it" situation right now, but this offense would look a lot better with his OBP in front of Abreu and Frazier right now.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) Excellent post, Omar Omar is one of the posters here that always kills it. Dude is a wealth of good information.
  10. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 4, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) I think you might be overrating him a bit. Collins has produced a much better line this year than Schwarber did when he was drafted. Very solid chance he becomes a nice hitter at the next level. Collins .417/.580/.713 Schwarber .358/.464/.659
  11. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 4, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) Ever since that horrible Angels start Rodon has been very inconsistent He threw fine tonight. Some of you guys really need to relax. Boston is a good team and Ortiz hit a mistake. The bats are the problem right now, not the pitching.
  12. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 4, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) I think the Sands thing has kind of run its course. He had a few big hits I guess. Ya, that experiment needs to die ASAP
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ May 4, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) Nice to see someone leave that isn't blasting the organization. Seriously. I am rethinking my exuberance from yesterday. Adam LaRoche makes me think that John Danks wasnt so bad.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 4, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) If this happened, I think it would go seven, with Sale and Q each winning two games. I was thinking of a hypothetical Sox-Cubs world series matchup while sitting out at the game last night. Would you stagger Sale and Q after Arrieta or would you start Sale vs. Arrieta? I think there is some sense in throwing, say, Rodon game 1 then having Sale vs. Lester game 2 and Q vs. Lackey game 3.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 4, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) Micker Adolfo to the DL Alex Katz to Expanded ST Jaider Rocha to Expanded ST OF Michael Suiter, RHP Chris Comito, and RHP Jake Charleston all to Kanny. Micker Adolfo getting Soler-itis
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 4, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) I do have to say that while the AL is deeper, I'd much rather be in the AL playoffs than the NL playoffs. The Cubs could face DeGrom/Thor/Harvey in a 5-game series, then have the Nats with Scherzer/Strasburg/Gio. And don't forget about Bumgarner & the Giants in an even year. The Dodgers aren't as good, but I bet they add another pitcher to Kershaw. There's no teams like that in the AL IMO. It's much tougher to make the playoffs in the AL, but fewer major land mines once you get to the random championship generator that is October baseball. Idk, the Dodgers have Maeda tearing it up and the possibility that Urias is up pretty soon. The Nats could potentially have Giolito up in September as well, that rotation would be downright scary. I think the Nats and Mets are basically their only competition this year in the NL.

    5/4 Games

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ May 4, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) So when does the Hayes Hype Train reach Chicago? Dude is on a tear. Interesting option. Wouldnt mind him coming up and Sanchez going back down. Him and Saladino are a bit of a redundancy right now.
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 4, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) Honestly, for game experience, my ideal is 20-25,000. That's enough fans to have an atmosphere, but not enough that there's going to be long lines at concessions and in the bathrooms, and then it won't take forever to get out of the ballpark and get home. Plus there will be guaranteed good seats available. Agreed. I really enjoy being able to walk up to just about any concession and get my stuff and go within 2 minutes. Short bathroom lines are great too.
  19. QUOTE (South Sider @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:45 PM) I like it. For now I can buy a $7 ticket and sit almost anywhere in the stadium. Caught some action down the RF line and also with some bleacher bums this evening. Obviously I'd prefer a raucous sell out crowd, but there are advantages to being one of the 15k as well. This. Enjoy the cheap ass tickets and pick of seats now b/c it won't be that way all season. The diehards are getting out to the stadium now, but that stadium will be very crowded come June/July.
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 4, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) Tehran is a mid rotation guy who would help more to get to the playoffs than in the playoffs. That may be his price but it's too much. Such trades of course rarely help and usually cause harm. But that doesn't stop the exuberance for them. Heck no one is even talking about Frazier, the super super slugger, and his Dunn-like output. I've heard a lot of people talking about what a welcome addition Frazier has been. Then again, I pay attention.
  21. I know it's not as big of a need, but thinking ahead towards October, it would be interesting to add a name like Aroldis Chapman to this bullpen.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 4, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) Would Julio Teheran cost Tim Anderson? That's an interesting name. 25 years old, lot of control left, RHP, that would be something I'd consider giving up Anderson for.
