  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) yes Not good. Says he's regressed. Ha! ERA dropped, WHIP dropped, still maintains an elite K/BB rate at a level where he is very young. Keith Law is talking out of his ass.
  2. Did anyone happen to read the Keith Law blurb on Spencer Adams yesterday?

  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) I think Fulmer's ceiling is around a #2 starter. I think Rodon's is a workhorse version of Chris Sale. The fact that Erik Johnson or Frankie Montas could be our worst starter in 2 years gives me all the feels
  5. If he did start in A+, I doubt it would be for more than 3-5 starts. Doesnt seem like he has much to prove at that level.
  6. Hoping he starts out in AA next season as he will be 26 when the season starts
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Jordan Stephens (Sox 5th round pick) is another guy who will be fun to keep track of next season. Had TJ, but was a strikeout machine with Rice. Great stuff. A ton of the guys drafted this year have been solid. After being pretty boring this season, Kanny should be really interesting next season with a lineup potentially of Zangari, Zavala, Glines, Adolfo, Cruz, etc.
  8. Carson Fulmer is really good

    9/2 Games

Pardon my ignorance, but the guys on AZL White Sox are done for the season now, right? None can go to Great Falls or Kanny?
  10. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) I think it's only Holmes and Bernstein as far as White Sox fans on WSCR. Is Mully a Sox fan? I respect Holmes and enjoy some of his speculation. Mully is definitely a Sox fan, so is Tannehill. Bernstein is a "Sox" fan. He doesn't know s*** about the team or the farm system.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) I'm going to let the people with more time argue this but that's crazy talk. Quintana is a stud. He's not better than Arrieta, Hamels, or Keuchel though. He's just not. He's not in the same neighborhood as those other guys either. He has a great contract. He's basically Jon Lester for way less money. I wouldnt really say Hamels is better than him. Since Q became a full time starter, their numbers are almost identical and Q has been worth 0.2 more fWAR.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) IMO, of the players listed, he is better than Verlander, Keuchel, Hamels, Arreita, Zimmerman and Snydergaard. This is talent alone, nothing to do with contract situations, which is only going to improve his value versus the majority of players on that list. I don't think he is too far behind / in the same neighborhood as several others - Kluber, Archer, Darvish, Wainwright, Cole, Cueto, Bumgarner. If you look at this surplus value, he is definitely more "valuable" than over half of those guys. Quintana is undervalued in the worst kind of way - even amongst Sox fans. If this guy had a good defense behind him, or better yet, a good defense and some run support, he would undoubtedly be considered elite by all knowledgeable baseball fans. His lack of run support is crazy. I like Q a lot, but he is not better than Keuchel or Arrieta.
  13. Loss for the Sox and wins by Detroit and Seattle tonight. Could jump as high as 7th pick by the end of the week.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) White Sox starting pitchers have a 4.23 ERA and a 3.67 FIP, no other rotation has such a huge difference. The interesting thing to note is the A's are actually outperforming their FIP (3.24 ERA, 3.65 FIP), yet their defense is ranked 28th and not too far ahead of ours. I have a potential theory to explain some of that difference. The A's poor defense has mostly come from the infield, while their outfield defense is just a tad below average. Meanwhile, our outfield defense has been completely dreadful, while our infield defense hasn't been nearly as bad. When your infielders have poor range, you'll give up some more extra-base hits, but a lot of the extra hits will just be singles. However, a poor defensive outfield means almost every extra hit you're giving up is going for extra bases. Interestingly, our relievers have outperformed their FIP (3.35 ERA, 3.73 FIP). However, this can probably partially be explained by all the groundball pitchers we have in the pen who are causing hitters to hit balls to our strong(er) defenders. However, our rotation gives up a significantly higher percentage of flyballs than our bullpen does, and they're getting burned by our horrific outfield defense. A guy like Heyward would alleviate this problem considerably. Solid post. I think you are on to something there.
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) White Sox defensive ranks over the last 7 years (ERA rank in parentheses): 2015: 30th (17th) 2014: 28th (27th) 2013: 22nd (20th) 2012: 8th (19th) 2011: 20th (19th) 2010: 27th (18th) 2009: 25th (7th) Not as much of a correlation as I would have thought, but being 28th in defense over the past 7 years can't have helped our ERA. From 2009-2015 our pitching is 20th in ERA but 2nd in fWAR. It's interesting to think about next year and ways to get better immediately. Our pitching staff looks relatively set for the next couple years and should be much better with a defensively sound team behind them. Do you keep Sanchez at second and Saladino at third? Both rate out extremely well in terms of their defensive abilities. Do you see a bigger platoon between Eaton and TNT? Do you take all this money coming off the books in the next couple seasons and go after a big fish like Heyward? He immediately makes this team much better defensively.
  16. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) People look at his batting average, but fail to recognize he's a plus fielder, baserunner, and hitter. I'm pretty sure he has completely lived up to the hype. Plus defender? No, no he's not. No metric says he is.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 07:04 PM) I hope we can grab this guy because why not B/c he sucks?
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) They guy has averaged 95.75 losses his last 4 years as a manager. Robin hasn't done that. And you have already gone from not guaranteed to mostly partially guaranteed in one post. It's not important that you know, but I am quite sure the vast majority of managers' contracts are fully guaranteed. And he averaged 72.88 in his first 9 seasons. Man, twisting stats to benefit your argument is fun.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) Bummer Not really. Not like he needed to be a salary dump move. Of all the free agents brought in last season, he's the only one that fulfill his actual contract.
  20. Shapiro takes Toronto's team president position. Hope everyone is ready for more Kenny.
  21. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) He not only is probably not ready, but if you bring him up, he would take up a spot on the 40 man roster next year, which means Sox would have to lose an unknown player, probably a pitcher, and that pitcher would then go on to win a Cy Young award. Could probably get rid of Gordon Beckham and no one would even notice. I see nothing wrong with Anderson getting some major league exposure. I also see nothing wrong with being patient with him.
  22. I dont see anything coming from this, but it is interesting to note that the Yankees offered Mateo for Kimbrel
  23. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 08:12 AM) That would be a bad idea. Why?
