Im surprised they still have Zavala in AZL. Seems like he should be getting reps at Kannapolis at this point. He has more extra base hits than walks. He is getting XBH 21% of his PA.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 08:30 AM) He's been one of the worst outfielders in baseball and the White Sox insist they have a roster ready to compete right now. If they have a roster ready to compete right now then they can't afford to give time for one of the worst outfielders in baseball to develop. This. This is exactly why I call him Fools Gold. He has already proven to not be a good baseball player at the major league level, I'm not sure why everyone still thinks he's good or has the potential to be really good.

Top 30 White Sox Prospects - Midseason 2015

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) What Hawkins does has nothing to do with the other two. I don't understand the connection you are trying to make here. It's caulfield -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) How does Hawk not realize saying Kansas City Special every inning is annoying? Wait until this weekend

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) What team would be dumb enough to claim that contract? No one, that's why I said it would be seriously awesome.

Would be seriously awesome if they could dump LaRoche in an August deal

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) Texas cities don't love baseball like Illinois does. Chicago Major Sports teams, by Popularity 1) Bears 2) Blackhawks 2a) Bulls 3) Cubs Gap 4) White Sox Houston Major Sports teams, by Popularity 1) Texans 2) Longhorns 3) Aggies 4) Cowboys (trust me, this is true) 5) Rockets 6) Astros Texas doesn't value baseball like Chicago does. It's a completely different culture. The Astros are not a true major market team. Houston makes the Astros a mid market team. What? Yes it does

Still think it's hilarious that this organization says it's trying to win and then trots out Flowers over Soto

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) LOL. I guess whatever players do in the minors is pointless then? If some of it doesnt translate to the majors, i'd say so.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) Oh please don't pretend that if there was a 22 year old hitting .374 in AAA with a .950 OPS that you wouldn't be salivating. If you can't admit those numbers could translate to being a good hitter in the majors then you're just arguing for arguments sake. Problem is I've watched all his professional ABs since getting called up and that "skill set" hasn't really translated to much. He cant hit a major league fastball, he still takes awful angles in the OF, he is a trainwreck on the bases, he doesnt even have a .700 OPS this season....dude is not good.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) How about hitting .374 in the minors ? Hitting .374 in the minors is a skill in the majors in what way?
-
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) the one that consistently hit for high average in the minors? The one that has made two absolute game saving plays on HRs? The one that is among the leaders in OF assists? The clay is there. It needs to be molded. He has the lowest WAR among qualified RFers in the MLB. He has the 3rd lowest UZR, only in front of a 33 and 30 year old.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) It's the height of ignorance to hate on Avi. Why anyone would hate on a 24 year with his skillset is beyond me. I get that he's been below replacement but FFS there is a reason he was a highly coveted prospect doesn't mean he's gonna pan out but this isn't a Viciedo situation. I guarantee if Avi was DFA today you'd have at least a dozen teams ready to scoop him up. He has plenty of PA until his time to prove runs out. Yes the sands are ticking through the hour class but this is a young player that is playing his first full big league season. The injury f***ed him up dev wise. We all should be willing to give him at least another 500 PA. What skill set?

This team is f***ing infuriating

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) Even if Thompson goes 0 for 4 at least he can play defense which already puts the Sox ahead of the game. This.
-
It's so incredibly odd to see the Sox allowing Anderson to develop at a normal pace. Like, of any position prospect they've had over the last decade, he is one of very few to actually be playing above the level of play he is at and not getting aggressively promoted. Kinda refreshing honestly.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) If someone gives Heyward $100 million, they're the dumbest franchise today. No way is he worth that. Not even close. He's actually one of the few FA in recent memory that could fulfill the value of an outlandish contract. He's had one season below 3.4 WAR since he came into the league. If a win currently costs $7-8 million on the open market, his actual value should be more than $20 million a year on the market. -
I'm really interested to see what the Sox have in Maiker Feliz. He has an exceptional BB% for a 17 year old. Zangari looking like a really nice pick so far, good to see some power come into the system.

Avi reaches -1.0 WAR tonight for sure

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) You get the feeling Sanchez is very popular with his teammates. Not hard when you can play fundamental defense and get some hits sometimes

Why pitch to Longoria but intentionally walk Canrera there? Man this staff is all sorts of baseball stupid
-
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) Yeah, I don't get the Avi hate on this board by some. He's already showing improvement from last year, and he's young. Superstar? Most likely not. But he could be a .280 hitter than homers 20+ times a year. I'm not sure he'll ever be a great (or even good) fielder, though. Statistically, he is worse both offensively and defensively. No clue how you can say he is improving.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) Read BIG DATA BASEBALL if you want a more detailed and nuanced explanation of pitch framing and why the Pirates believe it's so important. You can probably also search online and find some articles written by Pitt beat writers about why they targeted Russell Martin and Cervelli, since that was the main reason in the case of both guys... That book is fantastic, just finished it

Also thinking they will stand pat. Not sure they want to mess with the chemistry they have right now by bringing in a bat. I really wish they would bring in a RF tho and get rid of Avi. I think Gerardo Parra would be a perfect fit for this team. You could slot him in the 2 hole or the 5 hole and get plus defense in right. Seems too perfect for it to actually happen though.
