I’d love to be free of Leury, but I’m not even sure how much Madrigal improves this team.

And my point is that whatever marginal improvement he might be, which is questionable, he isn’t worth giving up assets for. I saw plenty of Madrigal when he was here and I doubt he’s any better than what the Sox already have. If they are going to trade for someone, and they should make an acquisition, they should aim way higher than a mediocre defensive 2B with clubhouse issues who hasn’t proven to be able to stay healthy. Not that we even know if he is available or whether Hahn would ever have any interest in a reunion. It’s a moot argument.

I would never watch another Sox tv broadcast again if those two are permanent replacements ???.

Madrigal sucks. Unless the Cubs are giving him away for free, why give up assets for a marginal improvement if that?

Unless he wants to spend a few years in the minors building up innings and working on his pitch repertoire, that ship has sailed. At least in this org. The Sox have pretty well bungled any chance for his to be a starter in the near future.

Any indication that his defense or base running improved at all on the northside? Because if his bat doesn’t play, he’s not really a starting calibre 2B at this point.

Exactly. He's had plenty of budget to work with, limitations notwithstanding. How he's used it is in an entirely different matter.

There is where Hahn's ineptitude in FA comes in. Yes he has constraints that keep him from landing top players for top dollars, but it's not like he has to work with a shoestring budget every year. I still firmly believe that a more competent operation would have a better team on the field for the same total dollars. Lets not forget how awful Hahn was in FA before the rebuild, and how he took a young cost controlled core and maxed out his budget w/o producing a real winner.

How do we acquire not one, but nine Chaz Jizzholm's? I think we need one at every spot around the diamond.

That makes the move even more curious to me.

I'm still confused by the assumption that he *should* be available when no one really has any clue what Miami is doing, let alone Rick Missing In Action Hahn having any prerogative to pursue him. Or the presumption that Arraez would play 2B for them, and why its thread worthy for that matter.
