  1. Sure, it's not 300M, but 200M is not an insignificant outlay for a club like Minnesota. A one year deal is far less risky for them than 6/200+.
  2. Waiting until he gets through the physical w/o any glaring red flags...
  3. And how quickly does this one fall apart too?
  4. You completely misread what I way saying. In no way was I thinking what you’ve suggested here. I was thinking perhaps that the diagnosis killed trade talks, as opposed to the org thinking they could send him elsewhere. We haven’t heard him mentioned in trade speculation in a while and it simply crossed my mind, that is all. Again, my thought was that this shut down trade talks knowing he likely wouldn’t be available and not at all the callous thing you’ve suggested.
  5. I did wonder if perhaps this has been known or the org knew something and it’s what chilled trade rumours/speculation. Never crossed my mind that it would have any impact on his durability on the mound.
  6. To echo others, f*** cancer. Godspeed Liam, hurry back soon. You’re one of the good ones and the game and we as fans are better with you around.
  7. And are one of what, three teams to never sign a $100M+ contract? Meaning they are never paying for premium talent or landing the game’s most marketable stars. Even when they do spend it’s usually on washed up garbage or not insignificant overpays. Blaming a fan base after 40 years of terrible ownership is rich.
  8. It might make the local news on tv, but I doubt it gets national coverage. Maybe the Trib writes a blurb but it won't make headlines. I doubt Block Club Chicago and the Athletic are even on JR's radar.
  9. Unless Gleyber completely tanks in 23 he is still tradable if Sosa or Popeye are ready.
  10. I haven’t followed him closely at all but I would take his 22 stats on the Sox in a heartbeat. We need pop anywhere we can get it. While ideally 2B would be LH we can’t be too picky. If the cost is Crochet sign me up.
  11. When your team non-tenders you it’s usually a sign. His D has been in decline as well as his ability to stay healthy. I would have welcomed him back on a Minor League deal, but wouldn’t have guaranteed him a roster spot. He found that elsewhere and more power to him.
  12. Surprised it’s a Major League deal. Best of luck on that one.
  13. Both of those locations are in Bridgeport but hardly a “few blocks” from the stadium. If the goal was to put these somewhere JR or the FO might see them, they probably missed the mark with the placement.
  14. Didn’t basically all of the AAAA/busted prospect OF depth in Charlotte elect for free agency?
  15. More Minor League/NRI depth signings please. But anytime they want to add a 2B and legit 4th OF, that would be great.
  16. I can honestly say that I do not want to know. The lack of transparency makes me fear that he would have been back, which says all sorts of dumb things about the org. I would be genuinely surprised that he would go willingly if not for health reasons, but I don't know. I spend zero energy thinking what if though, I am simply relieved that he is gone and the nightmare of his tenure is over.
  17. First one is Sheets, yeah? Game changer I tell ya!
  18. For the record, I'm not shitting on them for having a presser for a FA signing. Every team would. I do think they are overselling the signing as if he's a big time marquee free agent. A press conference for Andrew Benintendi is hardly exciting, let alone tweeting it out the next day like it's a big deal or worthy of hype. The largest contract in team history being him really isn't something to celebrate either.
