Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
I personally would keep Cease and the assets needed to acquire Crochet. Cease has far less injury risk, and longterm I'd feel better resigning him rather than extending Crochet.

We have officially come full circle, and or have jumped the shark.

Sounds familiar. Something about refusing to make adjustments or take coaching.

Severino to A's for 3 years / $67M
In 2021, a season in which attendance was still impacted by Covid, White Sox drew 1.59M, above the AL average of 1.32M. In 2022, the Sox cracked 2M, above the AL average of 1.94M. The past two season have been a disaster, yes, and attendance reflected that. But to say the White Sox portion of the Chicago market cannot support the team is false.

I could see the M's dealing Castillo's age 32-35 seasons for an offensive upgrade. I'm just not convinced that's Bellinger. I'd definitely want more in return.

M's ownership is pretty cheap, absorbing Bellinger's money is probably a no go unless they find a taker for Haniger.

Seriously. When even the cheap ass A's are handing out 20+M AAV deals for pitching, Jerry's assbackwardness looks even more behind the times. Just sell the damn team already FFS.

Manfred: mlb considering “Golden at bat” rule
Basketball allows for players to sub back in, baseball doesn't. There are also rules that govern when a player can sub in certain situations in those sports, and don't always allow you to put your best player in a big spot arbitrarily. Different sports don't have to follow the same rules, and this idiotic idea cheapens the uniqueness of baseball. I have zero problem with Ohtani or Soto or any other superstar pinch hitting in a big spot if they weren't already in the game, because that falls into the parameters of how game is played. But magically being able to skip multiple batters in a line up just to put your best hitter at the plate is a cheap gimmick that doesn't actually improve the game itself.

Manfred: mlb considering “Golden at bat” rule
The beauty of this in baseball is that it's random and unpredictable. You can game plan around it hoping to line up your best vs their best, but the stakes are impacted by variables that aren't predetermined. This rule would drastically alter fundamental aspects of baseball chasing a fabricated instant gratification. Walk-off wins are beautiful because any of your 1-9 could be the hero that night, and arbitrarily being able to jump the batting order to insert a star player cheapens those moments, and the game itself. We don't need to ruin baseball by turning it into football or basketball.

Manfred: mlb considering “Golden at bat” rule
Fans: please end blackouts and make the game more accessible. Manfred: So ghost runners, golden at bats, and other stupid gimmicks? Done!

White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
The rebuild needs foundational pieces, but with the state of the org this scenario seems likely. We’d be looking to trade him for a haul by the time they are decent again.

Dodgers defenestrating Sox, Snell signs 5 years, $182 million
Agree. Good pay day for Edman, but it seems like a massive overpay.

Dodgers defenestrating Sox, Snell signs 5 years, $182 million
A cap won't make cheap asses like Jerry spend with the Dodgers and Yankees of baseball, and a floor only requires him to spend the bare minimum. So long as he gets to bank free money from revenue sharing with no requirement to spend it on baseball operations or player salaries, little would change. Stopping the richest teams from spending won't stop the billionaires at the other end of the spectrum from choosing not to spend.

White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
And then what happened? And what happened when he faced a team for a second time? And what will happen when teams get more tape on him and can game plan for his subpar pitch repertoire?

Andrew Benintendi on the trade market (duh)
Assuming Venable is better than Pedro, which isn't a stretch, you're probably right. But if anyone could put a worse team on the field than 2024, its Chris Getz.

A pitching prospect with more than a good Change Up with no velocity to change off of?

Didn't we say the same thing about Cease?

Getz might just be dumb enough to think this hypothetical return is a quick fix short cut to being decent again. We can never underestimate the stupidity of a Reinsdorf front office.

White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
Cool, so Getz will cave in February and give away Robert for pennies on the dollar like he did Cease. All because cheap-ass Jerry is hellbent on shedding any large or longterm payroll commitments.

Soxfest back for 2025
The former International Amphitheater grounds feel more fitting, with the smell of melting pig fat wafting in the air from up the block.

Soxfest back for 2025
Totally agree. Small venue and there's not a hell of a lot to do in the vicinity. Better than nothing, but a far cry from Soxfests of the past.
