Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
SCCWS replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Boston most likely is going to trade an outfielder ( probably Duran/Abreu or Campbell) plus for a starting pitcher. So unless Phillies don't have a starter Boston could be at the front of the trade line -
And that's a 4-2 WHITE SOX OVER TRASHCANS WINNER
SCCWS replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The good news, I guess, is that the Sox are getting closer to some of the other bottom teams like Florida and Athletics. -
Only problem is the 4th and 5th hitters. Vargas needs to have a couple of legit hitters behind him so he doesn't get shitty hitters in the next 2 spots hitting below .200
-
Not with that offense. SOX only had 4 hits and 1 after the 1st inning.

Boston color man, Lou Merloni, had say during spring training that Red Sox were going to beef up their left side relivers. So he was surprised the Red Sox let Booser go since he was very effective last season. Booser pitched well this past weekend against Boston.
-
The quote came from Dave O'Brien and Middlebrooks in the Tampa Bay series before the White Sox series. Since then, the White Sox have won 3 games against Boston in the 2 series. O'Brien must have been embarressed by the remarks.
-
Lou Merloni has been doing the color this weekend and he is the primary color analyst on NESN for the 2025 season. Middlebrooks does fill-in on the Red Sox from time to time.

3 weak outs in bottom of 9th. Boozer was the man today

I looked at last night's game against the A's. The Sox's first 5 hitters in the lineup had one hitting .200 and the other 4 hitting below .150. That leads me to believe we are going to struggle to score runs in that game. After all the changes and trades we made, you would think that a couple of starters would be off to good starts? This is the A's we are competing with.
-
Agree. Colorado and Atlanta have the same record. The White Sox will probably continue to flounder but it will not change anything this early in the year.
-
4/2 game, they going to get the game in?
SCCWS replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in 2025 Season in Review
He just signed a long-term contract with the Sox so he will be pitching in Boston till 2030 or beyond. .........................................Oh, you mean the White Sox. -
May be exciting but not one of the best. I love Bill D especially with his number being raised to the rafters in Providence this season. . Having said that, the Bulls are ranked number 22 out of 30 NBA teams in wins. Luckily they are in the East and may get a shot of making the playoffs as the 9th or 10th team. I think we will see Billy D back in the college ranks very soon

Sox sign IF Bobby Dalbec to minor league deal, NRI
SCCWS replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Dalbec also had the benefit of the left-field wall hitting 25 that year. -
If we are trading Crochet, I would prefer that the Number 1 return is ready to start next year. But not Abreu from Boston since he is not proven to be an everyday OF.

Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
SCCWS replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think the Red Sox are the frontrunners for Soto. I think the New York teams will battle it out . So I think Crochet is the trade the Red Sox will want. They just need to squeeze the Red Sox for a Number 1 attraction in their package not Abreu as a Number 1. If Red Sox do get Soto, I think Boston will go for a lesser SP target than Crochet. -

Agree as long as Abreu is the #2 piece in a trade. He is pretty much only reliable hitting against RH pitching. But he is young and going against lefties should be the next step in his offense. Boston has a need to find a hole for one of their young OF prospects so Abreu should be a nice 2nd piece -

I would assume Boston's pursuit of Soto will put Crochet talks on back burner until Soto makes a decision. I think he stays in New York but we shall see. -

SCCWS replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Speaking of the Red Sox, Boston already has a starting LF in Duran and CF in Rafaela. So Abreu is the 3rd outfielder especially since he only had had success against RH. So with the soon arrival of Anthony, Mayer, Campbell and Montgomery Abreu would be a perfect target for Red Sox to offer in a Crochet trade. White Sox need to get a better main piece than Abreu -

SCCWS replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agree. Abreu had a very good year but he is still adjusting to hitting lefties. He cannot be the headliner. Abreu may be great in the future but right now the White Sox need a player who can offset, to some degree, if we are trading a potential number top 5-10 starter. Some team, desperate for an ace, will trade a headliner to offset Crochet -

Abreu was solid last year but only against RH pitching. He really struggled against lefties and was eventually sitting against left handed pitching. Now Abreu is young, hit well, good base runner and he has a solid RF arm. But it is a little scary that he is the best player on our side in case he keeps struggling against lefties. Maybe he just needs time to adjust to LH pitching but it is cause for thought. -

I said Crochet is a Number 1 or 2 starter. Are we sure Getz is a "no brainer" to get "a very good return "for Crochet. Also , if the intention is to keep Crochet and still lose 100 games then you absolutely should trade him. If the Sox keep Crochet and add significant players from free agency then that is a different conversation. -

Crochet is a Number 1 or 2 starter for many teams next year. The White Sox should listen to all the offers but only trade him if they get a great offer and "someone" in the Sox office is smart enough to realize that. A number 1 or 2 starter should only be traded if there is a haul coming back. -
Actually most MLB draft expectations in 2016 had Moncada as #1, Devers as #2 and Benintendi as 3rd with Kopech as 5 and Basabe 6-8 depending on who did the rating. But I agree that Moncada was #1 and it wasn't that close since Devers was only 19. Unfortunately Devers or Beni was not the 2nd get. It was Kopech at #5 and in fairness maybe Boston wanted a pitcher as the 2nd choice . Dombrowski said Moncada would probably have 15 good years but...........................
-
It didn't which was my point. Moncada was another disappointment. Why I say resigning Crochet may be a better sign than doing say a trade for Anthony. But, I am not sure if Crochet would be an even trade for Anthony.
-
We traded Sale and the crown jewel coming back was Moncada. Ironically Devers was supposedly an option but Moncada was "higher" rated. Sale really wasn't a steal with all his injuries but Moncada was no bargain either. Maybe resign Crochet and we don't have to worry about Anthony being a bust again.
