  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) Eh, he's walked a ton of guys this year. I'm worried he could have a steep falloff in the next season or two and I'd rather take a prospect or two for him and call it a day. Oh I'm definitely all for trading Robertson, I just think he may have a little more value that you're implying. I think it would of course increase his value if JR were willing to throw $5M or so to soften the blow of the final year of his contract, but not sure that would happen. The Nats system isn't the deepest so I don't think getting 2 guys ranked in their top 6-12 is unreasonable.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Robertson? He has two and half years of control right? Yeah it's 2 1/2 years and just under $30M left for Robertson. Really not unreasonable at all in my opinion. Take out 3 bad outings this year and there really isn't much to complain about
  3. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/wade...medium=facebook Basically says that Robertson is 1 of 3 likely candidates to be on the Nats radar for late inning relief. They are UNwilling to give up Turner, Giolito, or Reynaldo Lopez. Also says Robertson's contract could be a hindrance, but shouldn't be an insurmountable sum for Washington. Taking out those 3 prospects leaves Victor Robles as the likely headliner of a package for Robertson...and I'd be perfectly fine with that. He's young(19), but he supposedly is a 5 tool guy that has done nothing but hit so far. SP Erik Feede(#4), 2B Wilmer Difo(#6), and CF Andrew Stevenson(#8) are other prospects of note in their top 10 that should interest us.
  4. Wait, the White Sox have minor league talent? Unless it's Fulmer I don't see what could we possibly get? Is Spencer Adams and Trey Michalczewski really moving the needle for any team?
  5. It would probably just be easier to label every prospect not inside our top 7 or 8 in the same category. None are any better than C level prospects and we'll be lucky to get 1 everyday player or SP out of the bunch. Good work as usual by future sox tho...no discredit towards the article, just more towards the state of the system.
  6. Sale to Boston for Moncada, Rafael Devers, Michael Kopech, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Luis Alexander Basabe, Nick Linghi. Robertson for Conforto? Mets need bullpen help and seeing what Chapman hauled it doesn't seem completely unrealistic. Melky to Giants for Mac Williamson, Andrew Susac, and Adalberto Mejia. Zach Duke to Texas for Ronald Guzman and Victor Payano.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Oh f*** that. They are giving up Moncada. Sale and Q are worth Moncada headlined package. Sale has even more value than Q (not sure how much) so Moncada has to be in it. I've been saying he needs to headline the Q one. He should. Qs track record, contract and age speak for itself. If Hahn can't get Moncada that's a failure IMO. Easy pal lol, I definitely want Moncada too. I'm just throwing the hypothetical out there of if Boston takes Moncada off the table are they even in the running? Would a package like the 1 I threw out even get them in the door compared to what other teams will offer? Or is it Moncada or don't even answer Boston's call?
  8. Because I have too much time on my hands at work i was looking at Boston's roster heavily and trying to come up with a package not centered around Moncada for Sale that would be realistic for both sides. Would anybody actually do the following deal? That was the best deal I could come up with that I think Boston would realistically do. Travis Shaw Eduardo Rodriguez Rafael Devers Andrew Benintendi Michael Kopech Michael Chavis
  9. Am I missing something with the Dodgers system? Let's remove Seager, Pederson, and Urias because I don't believe they will be involved in any deals. That leaves...De Leon, Holmes, Belinger, Verugo, Barnes, Toles, and a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds. Nice prospects, but no headliner there for me. And even if 1 of those 3 were involved it would almost 100% be Pederson....and ehh, not sure he's the prize he once was. Joc, De Leon, Bellinger, Verdugo, and Barnes for Q or Sale? Definitely wouldn't be my favorite package.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) So I haven't really said much on this, but James Shields commented yesterday I guess about Sale and basically said from the time he's been around him, he's been one of the best clubhouse / lockeroom guys he's ever been around. Given Shields overall sterling reputation (from a lockeroom) perspective, I'd take it as a plus. Obviously in the heat of the moment, he did something he shouldn't have done, but Sale had complained multiple times about the jerseys (last year and again in spring training when they had him try it on). He still should have worn them and not did what he did in the end, but it was Hayes who basically mentioned, people think Sale is this lockeroom cancer, when in fact, it is really the opposite. Maybe Sale is popular in the clubhouse and is liked by teammates, but I don't see how you can act like the culture in the clubhouse is fine. I'm not saying it's Sale's fault or that he could even do anything, but sometimes a fresh slate and new voice is needed by everyone. If this was the only incident this season I would just chalk it up to a guy being frustrated, but how Sale handled the whole Laroche situation really rubbed me the wrong way as well. Either way, a decade without a playoff series wins and its pretty damn obvious that something needs to change and aside from the FO (which 100% needs to be changed as well), Sale is the biggest and most significant piece that can be moved.
  11. I would take Gallo, Profar, Brinson and at least 1 of Dillon Tate, or Matuella for Q....I'm sure most wouldn't but I'm not sure how many other teams are making better offers. Boston and Houston are probably the only 2 teams that could in my opinion.
  12. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) 1)Trading Chris Sale would be the biggest PR blunder since the White Flag Trade. It took years for White Sox fans to forget about that trade. Trading Quintana would also be a PR disaster. . 2) After starting off 23-10 this season, did anybody see this coming? It's obvious to most people that the White Sox are going to be sellers this year and not contend for the 2016 Playoffs. What kind of PR move is not winning a playoff game in 8 years?
  13. I don't love the Rangers system...Gallo is flawed. Huge power but I'm afraid he's a .230 hitter in the MLB. Profar is nice, but as others have said, the lack of years of control makes him less appealing. Houston and Boston should be the targets to try and strike a major deal with in my opinion.
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:57 AM) I don't see how any team can give fair value for either of them. Both are under very friendly contracts and neither are in their prime years yet. I don't think that you should trade them at all. You've got Sale, Q, Rodon, Fulmer right now. You're set for pitching for the next 4-5 years. How many other teams can say that? Their "value" isn't helping this team win and there's no help coming from the minors. We need to figure out how to get 4-5 good young position players infused into this team, and like it or not Sale and Q represent the only chance of getting that
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) If you are talking bullpen, Jones is the top trade chit. Saw what the Mariners did today? Made a move. Not really selling- just a half a step back for a good chance at 2 steps forward. Improved their organization - Vogelbach isn't that far away. Kind of like the Eaton trade...Hahn's best score, but one he refuses to repeat. Pretty much my point. I'm not worried about losing the setup man on a bad team for a chance to trade for a young position player. Jones is better than Montgomery and Vogelbach would instantly be our best hitting prospect besides maybe Collins (not counting Anderson).
  16. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) Shields is debatable...In a full rebuild, absolutely. But if they are going to just retool and reload to contend in 2017, I might actually keep him because the market to get a SP is off the charts right now. Not saying that Shields would garner much interest, but rather we would be left with a hole that would require some deep pocket investing to fill. Boston just traded "The next Pedro Martinez" level prospect to get Pomeranz. Right now, Shields is at least serviceable and has #3 starter upside. Free agent pickins' are slim this off-season, that means the mediocre SPs are going to be overpriced. Shields is only costing us cash ($11M/year for the next 2 years--which is low for a #3 SP). We got him on a big discount and if he pitches like he has, he can be useful. We can always flip him next year if we tank again. Jones. I think you hold Jones because of his contract. They signed him at a setup man price, but have a potential closer should they decide to move Robertson. He's an injury risk, but could very well be the closer of the future for us. I think you'll see them keep both of these players for the rest of the season. Just my prediction! It was rebuild time 3 years ago...now it's blow it up and run it over with a bulldozer time. Will it actually happen? Most likely not, just saying what I would do. I don't see anyway this team gets better without getting a lot worse 1st. Setup man and #4 starter are the least of my worries for the 2017 Sox to be honest with you. If I were GM I would be in full blown tank mode from now until the end of '18 simply trying to acquire as many assets as possible. Of course most fans don't want to hear that, but in my opinion it's the best way to make this team a championship contender again. Sick of watching this front office trying to patch a crumbling foundation only to watch it fall down again.
  17. If Shields can string together another 2 good starts I think there's a real possibility we could flip him for more than we gave up. Am I the only that would gauge interest on Nate Jones too? I know he's young and controlled, but I can't be the only 1 that sees his elbow going again before too long. I wouldn't just trade him for the sake of getting rid of him, but with the # of contenders looking for backend bullpen help he might be able to net us a pretty good prospect.
  18. Sale + Robertson for McCullers, Joe Musgrove, Kyle and Preston Tucker, JD Davis, Teoscar Hernandez, and James Hoyt
  19. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) It has been pretty clear for a while that Robertson no longer has Closer stuff, at least since Robertson allowed 6 out of 7 runs in the ninth to blow a 7 run lead and lose to the Royals at the end of May. Just like he did in that game , Ventura sat and watched Robertson implode instead of getting him out of there, or going out to the mound himself to calm him down and perhaps mpart some useful information...like how to pitch guys. Robertson vs. Adam Lind had disaster written all over it. It was like you knew it was going to happen. The season is not over, but someone has to take responsibility for things to chanage. Demote Robertson from Closer status or trade him and re-assign Ventura to West coach scout. Really? Of all the scapegoats you can possibly go for you choose Robertson? Last night and the non save situation you mentioned are pretty much the only blips on his resume. He's been pretty damn good otherwise with only 1 or 2 normal hiccups along the way. You can blame a lot of things on a lot of guy's, but I don't understand how you think demoting a closer who has 3 blown saves and 2 L's on a very crappy team is going to solve anything. Trading him because the season is indeed over and we don't need a closer? That would have been a much better rant to go on...
  20. Frazier, Melky, and Robertson all need to go at the deadline. Those 3 clearly won't be here when/if the team is in contention. In the off season is when "they" (hopefully "they" are new) have to sit down and honestly think about moving 1, or more, of Abreu, Sale, or Q. There just flat out isn't enough talent in the organization and the sooner they can admit that the better off the team will be.
  21. This honestly might be one of the most difficult teams to watch I've ever seen. The inability to string together any kind of offense together what so ever is beyond pathetic. Aside from Eaton, Melky, and Abreu none of these guys bring a professional hitters approach to the plate. It's all just a bunch of guys who go up there hacking at anything remotely close. The amount of K's being tallied against this team by mediocre pitching should be embarrassing enough to get people fired and traded. But honestly, are these problems just what this organization is at this point? Because it doesn't seem like anything matters at this point, there just seems to be a sheer lack of ability to either scout talent or coach and develop it....or (probably) both. This whole thing just needs to be utterly blown to pieces starting from KW all the way down to the minor league coaches and everyone in between. It would probably be a long rebuild, but it would be better than the black hole of below average this team has been for going on 5 straight years now.
  22. Lucroy isn't getting this offense anywhere, so this thread is pretty pointless. We need way more than just 1 guy to even think about seriously competing r
  23. No interest in trading Fulmer and I don't think we have enough to get Lucroy without him. Of course I'd love him but we just have nothing to trade for any top flight guys sadly.
  24. Astros have a huge log jam of hitters now after signing Gurriel and they still have Bregman loudly banging on the door in the minors. Gattis is going to turn into a part time DH, has been sent down once already, and hasn't broken out of a slump all year. I'm not exactly sure what we have that they would want, but I could definitely see them wanting to move him to free up a bench spot for a better defensive player. He could be a good buy low candidate as our DH/occasional LF/occasional backup C who can bring a lot of pop. He'd probably hit a ton of bombs in Chicago in the hot summer months heading into the playoffs. Terrible idea or worth a shot?
  25. Navarro is pretty brutal behind the plate. Gives the pitcher no help at all
