  1. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:13 AM) Let's continue talks with Rizzo/Nationals regarding Quintana. Package of Robles, Giolito starting point again. Hahn probably told the Nat's that he would accept their last Sale offer ( Lopez, Gio, Robles) for Q. Imho, Q's value went up when Sale came off the board. Now that Sale has gone to Boston, I can't help but think that the Yanks make a hard push to catch the all elusive dragon they set free years ago. Boston and NYY love to play keeping up with the Jones's.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:10 AM) Q to Washington makes more sense. Colorado will always be buying low on pitching. Always. Yep, I think colorado is still feeling the sting from the Hampton signing and utter flop. Agreed about Washington. Also think Houston and NYY have the bullets to pull off a trade for Q. Atlanta does but with the trade for Garcia and the Colon/Dickey signings, they seem to be buying time for their young pitching to develop. Read an article from late November that spoke about Pitt having interest but they don't strike me as the type to be in on Q due to how they value their prospects.
  3. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) As an aside, how many more years of control do the Sox have on Rodon before his agent gets him to sign elsewhere in FA? 5
  4. QUOTE (Special K @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) I just worry that we just traded a legit Hall of Famer in his prime on a bargain contract for two unproven prospects and didn't get one proven player in return. Love Moncandas ceiling and if he pans out as a superstar or even very good player, then the deal was probably worth it. But if he flops, we got hosed. That's my thought. To have a hall of famer in their prime on your team is a very rare thing... Keep in mind that the Sox weren't winning with Sale under the teams current construction and weren't going to win anything over the next three years. Keeping Sale for the next three years wasn't going to help the team rebuild or replenish the farm.
  5. QUOTE (Jbabs34 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:10 PM) Do any of you see the Yankees joining the Q sweepstakes? Would love to get some of their prospects. Yep, I do. Especially now that Boston has acquired Sale. A package starting with Frazier and Rutherford sounds good to me.
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) That was their Sale offer; won't make it for Quintana. Don't be so sure. GM's might like Q better due to the extra year of control, no FA pitching market, less concerns with Q's durability vs Sale's and to be honest, aside from Sale's strike outs Q's numbers are just about there with Sale's.
  7. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) Or acquire extra money to go all in on Otani next winter. Agreed. With the Sox selling off assets I see no reason why they won't be competing for Otani.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) "Catching breath" = making the other teams sweat and pay up to get him. Yep. It's nice being in the driver's seat. Q is the pitcher I preferred to keep but if a team wants to ante up then why not? For me, talks begin with a Sale type package and see if anyone ends up giving in. Imho, a team would. Possibly the rumored Nat's package for Sale.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) And the award for biggest jump to conclusions goes to... QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) oh hello there instant reaction and prediction, how are you QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) Office Space, the gift that keeps on giving. Well played boys! I'm actually doing that laughing out loud thing. Edit: Is Caulfield the Tenth Man for SoxTalk?
  10. As always, your right on top of things as they go down. Well done and look forward to more insight on the trade.
  11. The Sale has begun! Tomorrow's headline.
  12. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) Thanks Chris, but it's about damn time. You can put a big red X in front of Sale's face on your sig. I will miss Sale's dominance but I won't miss his childish ways so I say WELCOME TO CHICAGO YOAN MONCADA!
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Just another player, feel nothing for him compared to PK and Buehrle. He is similar to D. Rose where he should have been a legend in Chicago but immaturity got the best of them Yep, he gawn and I ain't crying. Well, I am crying tears of joy when I think of the Sox adding another very talented infielder to go with Anderson. Not to mention a high upside arm in Kopech. I wish Sale the best except for the days he faces the Sox.
  14. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) I'll have what he's having. This is a great package for Sale. Pass it this way when you're done dude. I too think this is a great package for Sale. I'm so happy right now. Not to be a gluttonous piggy but, Rick Hahn, who's next?
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) I think I'm done here for now. More mouth breathers here than on twitter. I remember when this was an intelligent baseball site. Not sure what happened. Come on Jimmy, it's just the status quo for the board my man. If people want to freak over a package that starts with Gio/Robles without knowing the rest, let em because it's a fun read for guys like us. I like Gio/Robles as a starting point so I'll wait and see what the rest of the package looks like before I just the potential trade that he yet to happen. Just keep in mind that some were complaining when there weren't Sale rumors circulating an now there are and people are still complaining. Such is the life of the victim role players. Besides Jimmy, you can't leave, the board needs people like you to maintain the balance.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) If people truly believe the things they've said about the White Sox being good at developing pitchers, then a guy who has strong stuff but hasn't yet translated that into results would still be an extraordinary get for the White Sox. The question is, do we have confidence in the org turning stuff into pitching? Been thinking this morning about Giolito and can't help but be reminded of Gavin Floyd. Although Floyd was approaching the former top prospct status when the Sox traded for him, their body frames and stuff is not that different. Both with straight fastballs in the low to mid 90's, great curve balls but trouble locating and change ups that need more development. To answer your question; yes I think the Sox can turn Giolito's stuff into pitching and a better one than Floyd turned out to be. My hangup with Gio is the TJ surgery he had. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that more times than not, one TJ surgery eventually leads to a second. That does stick in the back of my mind but his potential at 22 years old is just to good for me to object to. I admit that I prefer a trade with Houston or Boston but I won't complain about a package that starts with Giolito and Robles from the Nat's.
  17. Lmfao! People complain because the Sox haven't traded Sale yet and now that some info leaks out about what a Nat's package for Sale would start with and people still complain. The deal isn't official and neither are the suspected pieces. Relax. I'm fine with a deal that starts with Giolito and Robles. Just waiting to see what the rest of the package looks like. For now, I'm patiently waiting.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 06:45 PM) I see things haven't changed much while i was away for the semester. I'm sticking to only medical or mechanics issues from now on. Yep, you are not missing a thing. Been spending alot of time listening to and editing my music collection. Until something breaks I don't have a whole lot to contribute that hasn't already been said so I'll keep doing my music thing until then.
  19. Sox Sale hung out to dry as winter meetings pass. Sox brass leave Maryland constipated after no Sale for Chris's crab cakes. Williams/Hahn laughing stock in Maryland after not being able to trade one of the games best pitchers. See how they f***ed it up, pg.3
  20. QUOTE (kwill @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 06:18 PM) What do the Dodgers think of Urius and De Leon to sign a 35 year who has a list of injuries to this kind of deal? Do you think it opens up the possibility of both De Leon and Urias being in the same package? You are not getting Chris Sale for depth. You are getting him for being another ace behind Kershaw. Does this mean those Dodger payroll concerns have been vastly dramatized? Simply put, the Dodgers are not trading for Sale. The Dodgers have been building their farm for some time and have been consistently saying they aren't giving up certain prized prospects. I never really put much stock in the Dodgers interest knowing the Sox would ask for the moon which the Dodgers aren't doing. The Dodgers are counting on their youth to take over for the aging, costly veterans as their contracts expire over the next few years. That will leave the Dodgers a ton of money to lock up their youth for the long term. Looking at the money they have coming off the books over the next few years and the young talent they have, the Dodgers are in a very good position and by all means do not need Chris Sale. Especially at the cost it would take to acquire him. Now Boston on the other hand, is desperate for pitching and makes much more sense. Same for Houston. Imho, those are the most likely destinations.
  21. Whoops. You mean the Dodgers aren't going to trade for Sale?
  22. Not at all against the idea of trading Rodon. Maybe the Sox see something they don't like like they did with McCarthy. The way Rodon finishes his delivery has always been questioned. I'm not saying the Sox should trade Rodon, just not against the idea. All depends on the potential return.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) Duncan is the reason why the 2005 World Seties DVD can't be topped. And how! I love hearing his voice every time I watch the WS DVD. Funny Duncan's name came up. Just recently watched an old episode of Married With Children that Duncan made an appearance in.
  24. Don't forget Michael Clarke Duncan. (RIP big guy). Meh. I wouldn't be for or against Obama buying into the Sox. Obama is not the worst thing that could happen to the Sox.
