Anyone think the Sox and Ray pull off what Houston and Cameron did in the '15 draft?

Matt Albers crushed an opposite-field double
BlackSox13 replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Genius move by RV telling Frazier to hit a HR to tie the game and for batting Albers because RV just KNEW Albers was over due. Sheer brilliance! RV for manager of the year! -
This is a good question Caulfield. I wondered the same thing when the Shields rumor came out. As of right I'd go with Gonzalez.
-
Considering the source, I'll take the Shields rumor with a grain of salt. Wasn't WhiteSoxDave one of the Twatter people that were talking up Cespedes signing with the Sox last winter? Something about 5/130M, if I remember correctly...

Someone mentioned before that Fulmer was not much of a strike thrower in college and that MiLB hitters are not swinging at Fulmer's pitches out of the strike zone the way college kids did. Makes sense. Now it's up to Fulmer to adjust and that might take longer than anticipated.

Nice to see Delmonico get bumped up to Charlotte. I try to keep expectations limited but boy could the Sox use his LH power bat.

QUOTE (vandy125 @ May 24, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) I opened this thread expecting to see an article about Quintana... Lmao, same here. Q was the first name that popped into my head when I read the title.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 23, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) He's due the prorated amount this season plus $13.5 in 2017 and $13.5 in 2018, with a $1 million buyout for 2019. That is what pitchers cost. I'd rather have Santana for a low prospect cost and take on the contract than someone like Teheran where they'd definitely be trading Fulmer. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 23, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) I bet you could get Santana for next to nothing prospect-wise. The Twins would be happy to save the doe. And realistically, Santana is worth what he gets paid ($13.5M per year). Just look at last winter's FA market for starters. I am not super in love in Santana, but it'd be a nice move and decent way to spend LaRoche's $. Team still needs another good left handed stick, though. Mind if I jump on the Santana train with ya? I think it's a great idea. Considering the Sox were set to lay laRoche 13M and are paying Danks 15.5M, I'll happily take on Santana and his 13.5M.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
BlackSox13 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (harkness @ May 23, 2016 -> 10:48 PM) If he doesn't get his head out of his a** we got no chance. This really makes no sense. The Sox have no chance because Abreu is struggling and yet the Sox are still in first place and 8 games over .500 despite Abreu's struggles. -
Anderson triples in his first ab and is now batting .301.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 16, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) Fulmer with command issues again. 4 BBs through 4 IP. Never did understand how Cooper came to the conclusion that Fulmer is ahead of where Rodon was this time last year. Fulmer is one level below where Rodon was and is walking more batters to boot. Not saying I've given up on Fulmer, just that he will likely take more time to become MLB ready. His walk rate is disturbing though.
-
Davidson continuing his tear with a HR and is 2/2. Anderson is 2/3 and hitting .284. EJ looking like the best 4A pitcher in the minors, lol. Fulmer still looking like sir walkalot.

QUOTE (Special K @ May 16, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) Except Avi can't hit left handed pitching. Avi's career splits show he hits LHP better than he hits RHP. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...=Career&t=b

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 16, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Preston Tucker also got optioned by the Astros yesterday. I'd LOVE to have him on the Sox. Same here. Tucker would be a nice asset to have. Seems more of a platoon bat at this point but I'd take it. Tucker could bat and play LF against RHP and Melky could DH. Avi could take LHP and DH or play LF with Melky at DH. Question is, what would Tucker cost to acquire if he is available via trade? I would imagine the price would not be cheap.

Forget Shields, wouldn't touch him regardless of the cost. His low ERA is bolstered by pitching in a pitchers paradise and in the NL. His walk rate has doubled since he signed his contract and would not bode well in the AL and pitching in the Cell. I would rather stick with Gonzalez or see what Ranaudo has to offer after a few more starts at Charlotte. SD can keep Shields and his contract.

Sox attended Lincecum showcase day - Angels expected to sign him
BlackSox13 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't doubt the Sox have some interest, just doubt Lincecum has interest in the Sox. Lincecum is not going to venture too far away from Humboldt country. -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 12, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) Keith Law mentioned that Kole Calhoun could interest the Sox if the Angels decide to shop him. I like Law's train of thought on this. Calhoun is a very realistic possibility if the Halos continue to sink in the ALW. Maybe EJ + low level minor leaguer for Calhoun?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2016 -> 10:20 PM) Erik Johnson and Carlos Sanchez packaged together can get ____________ back in return. Fill in the blank. And no, Gordon Beckham or a bag of balls aren't acceptable answers. Nolan Arenado!

CINCO DE MAYO GAME THREAD: BOS @ SOX

QUOTE (hi8is @ May 5, 2016 -> 06:05 PM) Smoking hot cheerleaders for professional sports teams are overrated, anyhow. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:46 PM) Going by fWAR, the Flying Serpent is the best pitcher in the AL, ahead of Chris Sale. Glad we didn't trade Q over the winter, again.
-
f*** Sharkbait. He's gone and I don't miss him.
-
No thanks to Braun. The Brewers can keep that contract and bad back.
-
Like everyone else, I am shocked and would not have guessed this would happen until June. I wish Danks well but this move had to be made. Hopefully one of EJ, Gonzalez, Turner will solidify the 5th spot in the rotation. Good job by the FO making this call, it must not have been easy.
-
Eaton for me. He's done it with the bat, the glove and the arm. I think Sale, Q and Lawrie are very close seconds.
