  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) 2 weeks from tomorrow is the deadline. Let's see how bad or good the next 10 days are. This is what thinking as well. I don't expect much of a turn around between now and the deadline but I'm willing to wait 10 days and see where the SOX are at. I'd like to see the SOX sell a few assets but I don't expect JR to be eager to sell and rebuild at his age.
  2. I like the idea of LuCroy but the Sox need more than just a catcher to become contenders so using the Sox best asset (Fulmer) to acquire LuCroy makes little sense. It's not like the Sox are loaded with assets for trade to fix the holes in the pen, DH and CF.
  3. QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) Is there anyway Avi doesn't get non-tendered in the off season? Why would anybody trade for him? Same could be said about Burns which is why I mentioned an Avi for Burns swap. That doesn't mean Oakland would be interested, just an idea.
  4. Avi for Burns sounds like a fair swap to me. Both could be the change of scenery candidates.
  5. Collins 2/3 with a HR. Adams looks good.
  6. The curse of the Drake strikes again! This time, it's Jose Abreu!
  7. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) No, he didn't. He said he "heard something was close". Since then, Dave has been on point & broke quite a few things. Wasn't it Dave that said 5/130M is what the Sox were going to sign Cespedes for? Pretty sure that Dave had reported that on twitter.

    No Davidson for Charlotte?
  9. If the Dodgers want pitching, I would be more than happy to trade Shields for Puig.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) Remember when people wanted to trade Quintana for him? Gah, what a bad trade that would have been. I remember, lol. I was one of the few that said "no". I would take Puig in a trade in hopes of him rebounding at the cell but I wouldn't give up any of the Sox top prospects to get him. Not really sure what Puig's trade value is, but I know it is not what it once was.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 08:20 AM) Is this because Levine suggested this weekend that the Sox trade Frazier for Bregman? Lol, that Levine sure is a funny guy.
  12. Great job as always Brian/FS! I really like the change in the Sox approach to drafting hitters. Will be following Call, Collins and Fisher very closely over the next few years. Imho, their is plenty to be excited about.
  13. There are many problems with the Sox but Jose Abreu on the banner for Soxtalk is not one of them.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 02:52 AM) Bat Anderson second if you don't wanna move him to fifth or sixth. He will strike out some, but since he won't walk, he'll either K or put the ball in play which will move Eaton. So you want to take Anderson's speed and .300 BA out of the 1-hole simply due to a lack of walks?
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) Who are you to say what the Sox need to do ? You can't even wake up on time to do your game thread duties. You'd be working on your 3rd one for tomorrow if you were not stoned on melatonin. Slacker ! It's from spending too much time listening to the song from Silversun Pickups.
  16. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) He is tied for 2nd in the AL in home runs and has 49 RBI's. Are we really complaining about this? He is on pace for over 40 HR's and over 100 RBI's. I think we have bigger problems than Todd... Oh yeah and he also plays a pretty good 3b. Yep, bottom line is that despite Frazier's low BA he is still producing runs and there's no denying the Sox need help in that area. I'm more concerned about the production from 1B, C, CF and DH.
  17. I thought calling Anderson up was a bit early but I'm not complaining about the results so far. Tim has been a great spark at the top of the order and it looks like the Sox made the right call. Tim has been a breath of fresh air.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) I bet you anything that they dont give two s***s about his ability to be a catcher. This exactly. Collins was drafted for his bat first and foremost. If Collins bat progresses ahead of his glove behind the plate, his position will likely change to 1B. I think the progression of Collins bat is what matters most to the Sox.
  19. I blame the 2015 HR Derby.
  20. Great stuff and thanks for posting this, well done! Sounds as though Burdi could be a future closer if the Sox were to keep him as a reliever. I am curious to see what the Sox decide to do next February/ March.
  21. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 07:11 AM) If that is the case then using the same logic Albers didn't pitch in this game because his stat line shows 0 IP. The box score for this clearly states that James Shields pitched 5 innings with the additional statement "J Shields faced 2 batters in the 6th inning". Meaning he pitched more than 5 innings. Actually Shields didn't pitch more than five because there's three outs to the inning and Shields recorded none. Yes Albers pitched but this outing was more of an appearance than IP since no outs were recorded. The hat eating thing was about IP. Now ya know it's a boring season when were discussing tedious things like this.
  22. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 06:34 AM) Technically, he WALKED 2 batters in the 6th which means they don't even count as ABs. Nope. Your hat is safe. In the end the stats show 5.0 IP because he did not record an out in the 6th.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) Boston fans are probably salivating at Sale's performance tonight over their Sox Boston writers will have the Sale trade to the Red Sox ironed out by Wednesday morning. The White Sox should get a robust collection of prospects that Boston writers and fans do not want.
  24. Not sure which is the bigger head scratcher, the trade for Shields or the horrible 4 game stretch Shields is having. And I thought Javy Vazquez was perplexing.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Can we get an updated list of who signed? Thank you. http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2016/...-draft-tracker/
