I agree, Sosa needs to be at first base, come Spring Training the manager and coaches need to work full time with Sosa and by the time the regular season starts he will hopefully be at the least a serviceable first baseman. I like an infield of Vargas at 3B, Monty at SS, Meidroth at 2B and Sosa at 1B with Mead the utility guy.

Yep, but instead of a wrist injury, Allen had his leg broken after a collision with Mike Epstein on a wide throw from Bill Melton. Allen was on his way to another great season and the Sox were in the race but folded after Allen was done for the season. Most of our recent losses are because of the bullpen imploding. I’m not sure what they can do with Sosa, no matter what position he plays he’s a butcher. Injuries are mounting up, Vargas with a wrist injury, Monty might actually be having oblique issues, Tauchman has been been hurt just about from the beginning of the season and of course it’s the same old story with Robert. I also have a hunch Quero might be banged up as Teel is doing most of the catching.

Once upon a time I spent the first 4 years of my life living next to the elevated tracks at 18th street on what was the Howard-Englewood line. One of my first memories was standing on our back porch and almost able to touch the tracks. That was in the late 1940s and the station was gone. As you can see in the photo which I found on the CTA site, we lived very close to the tracks.
