  1. Adam Dunn ain't going to walk away from the rest of his contract. But his stupidity is nearly alarming as his ability to swing and miss. These are words he'll live to regret. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-p...quitting_072011
  2. The manager won't play the kid unless he has the OK to bench the $56 million stiff the GM has saddled with him for the next 3 1/2 years, the guy who can't hit as well as Joey Cora or Greg Walker. not an ozzie problem. It's a Kenny problem. Kenny is the one ruining this franchise.
  3. Dunn and Rios combined 4 for 32 since the break -- and the Sox are 3-1. Imagine ... And ... he's got 124 Ks with a .158 batting average. We need to start a pool on picking the date when his strikeout total overtakes his batting average. I'm going with Aug. 5 at Minnesota.
  4. eight strikeouts against Kyle Davies in four innings. Dazzling.
  5. I would love to see Phegley, Blanke, Gonzalez or the kid from Pitt (Smith?) at least give us one decent catcher out of the group. I don't see many other position players, although I try to remain optimistic by remembering that Morel, ARam and Beckham are all young. We desperately need one young outfielder to come on. We had Hudson and Gio for the rotation. But Kenny had a better idea.
  6. Kuhn singles in his first AB at Birmingham. Up to .373.
  7. Generally I like the list, although I agree that it is an uninspiring collection of players. One guy I would put higher is Phegley. I don't think Flowers has much of a future, so Phegley will get the next call. Would probably move Kuhn up several spots, too. he's hitting .373 in the middle of July. If they're smart they'll make a spot for him as a super utility guy. Doesn't have the power of Lillibridge, but he appears to be a better hitter or at least a hitter who understands who he is and doesn't swing for the fences. That's rare in the Sox system. Kuhn should be a White Sox piranah.
  8. Kenny Williams Jr. plays LF next season
  9. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 02:09 AM) Tyler Kuhn back in B'Ham lineup tonite. They didn't give him much of a look in Charlotte - only 7 games. Kind of a raw deal. Do we really need to see more of Gookie D or Andy Garcia? He's 2 for 3 tonight after going 3 for 24 at Charlotte. i hope that isn't why he went back down. I agree. No reason to use Dawkins to clutter the system. He's got zero future.
  10. Edwin Jackson for Jeffrey Marquez. Or maybe Wilson Betemit. Do it, Kenny Stanford.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 03:20 AM) Just who posted here.. hi8is - C- (posting more, which I like, but getting married severely brings the grade down from a B-) fathom- B (not posting as much as in years past, though some of that is because of the baby, but still one of my personal favorite posters) J4L- A- (incredible year as far as getting into certain ST poster's skin, but with actual facts to back them up as well as post count. Another favorite poster of mine. Should be at the top of the soxtalk poster of year awards for 2011) The Ginger Kid- C (very underrated poster. Doesn't stand out like the others here, but doesn't kill the I.Q. of the site like others do either) FlySox87- N/A (still a rookie) Swingandalongonetoleft- C- (only post when necessarily, which is good. Still another down year from what his potential should truly be for ST.) jeffro2525- N/A (don't know enough about this poster to give a grade) South Side Fireworks Man- C- (same reason as Swingandalongonetoleft) chisoxt- C (same as Swingandalongonetoleft and South Side Fireworks Man, though IMO, he has far better potential with his post, so I gave him a touch higher grade) oldsox- N/A (same as jeffro2525) qwerty- D (absolutely a pathetic year for one of ST's best posters. Went from crushing every poster with ridiculously witty post, to absolutely crushing posters with ridiculously witty pics. Good stuff, but leave that for the ill-informed. He will get the Derek Jeter treatment with the ST awards though, as well as Kalapse) OilCan- B- (though has a low post count, his post actually stand out alot with solid reasoning. Pretty good year for him. Might be a Phil Humber fluke, but this is the "what have you done for me lately" world) GreenSox- N/A (" ") pittshoganerkoff- B- (actually the same reasoning as OilCan) greg775- C (I was actually back and forth with Greg's grade, so I put him in the middle. Not the optimistic senile he's been in year's past, and now has alot of pessimistic post... but are senile. He pisses off alot of posters for alot of reasons to name, but he mush be doing something right and a poster or two have admitted he was their favorite. Is also a regular here, so that helps balance it all out. All in all, one of those posters who you either hate him or love him) chw42- A- (just exploded into the scene this year. Though not a favorite poster of mine [yet] I'll admit, but I love his saber-love post, and is very knowledgeable here. Has future mod potential. Another guy who could be a dark horse for the ST poster of the year, and yes.. I hate those ST awards as you know) Baron- N/A (still a rookie) winninguglyin83- C (great poster on ST for many years, but just has you wanting more in posts. One of those toolsy posters who should be better than what he is, but is solid all around so he gets the solid grade) BigEdWalsh- B- (the old man just keeps on trucking. Has had a much better year than in years past, hence the higher grade) elrockinMT- C (has actually had a very good year in posting, but isn't standing out as much in those post whether that is good or bad. Fits more in the greg mode for me, but not with the same ability to agitate, but more consistent in pessimism over the years, not a flip-flopper) The other posters haven't posted yet so there you go. Thanks for making me laugh during a season that has made me cry -- and scream waiting for somebody to wake up and fix this annoying team. I'll try to have a better second half.
  12. Factoring salary into the equation: Peavy: C- (too much bold talk, not enough bold pitching) Buehrle:B (solid, solid) Floyd: C+ (can usually expect a one-inning meltdown) Danks: C (should be better) Jackson:D (get rid of him) Humber: A (hope it continues) Thornton: C+ (Key factor in slow start) Santos: A- (Keeper) Sale: B- (mismanaged) Crain: B (making a lot of money for middle relief) Bruney: B+ (eats innings) Pena: D (not happening) Ohman: C (blah) Santiago: Inc Catcher Pierzynski: C (incapable of throwing anybody out) Castro: B (does his job) Flowers: Inc INFIELD Konerko: A- (the pro's pro) Beckham: C (losing hope) Ramirez: B- (expected a major step up) Morel: C- (take a walk, will you kid?) Vizquel: C+ (not as good as last year, but not playing as much) Teahen: D+ (can't imagine another 1 1/2 years of this guy) Outfield Lillibridge: C+ (200 at bat guy) Quentin: B (still waiting for another 2008) Rios: D- (doesn't seem to care) Pierre: D+ (cares, but can't do it.) Dunn: F (out of shape, can't hit lefties -- or righties for that matter) Management Guillen: D (tuned him out) Williams: F (biggest payroll in division giving him nothing.) Bell: D- (waiting for improvement in farm system. Don't see it.) Reinsdorf: C (spending the money and getting burned. Do something to these clowns running the organization.
  13. Bleacher Report? Isn't that some guy texting from the urinal?
  14. how can anybody possibly justify hitting Dunn third? the contract means you can't bench him. but you can't possibly hit him third. It's suicide. Royals are going to be good the next few years if they find a pitcher or two.
  15. just awful. pitch to Chris Getz like he's Wade Boggs and then let him run like he's Rickey Henderson.
  16. Jackson Mr. Inefficiency. Send him on his way.
  17. I don't know about you, but I've -- cough, cough -- been in dunn's corner all along.
  18. Isn't Sabathia pitching on the Sunday before the all-Star break and likely out of the game. Thought I read that he plans to go to the Bahamas.
  19. Viciedo for Dunn is obviously the right play. Didn't Dunn have 3 more Ks today, including one with first and third and one out -- in Wrigley, allegedly his favorite park to hit. His mind is mush. He needs to go on the DL to regroup. Gotta be sub .170. (.168). But one that can't happen because of the contract. That's on Kenny. Not Ozzie.
  20. Tyler Kuhn another double. Pushing .370.
  21. wilson went nuts in dugout. affeldt saved him.
  22. unfollow Cowley on Twitter. Easy to do.
