Who are the worst players in White Sox history?
shysocks replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Billy Koch should be in everybody's top 5. -
QUOTE (shakes @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) People are saying some players save their best for MLB, but who are they? Who else spent 6 years in the minors with pretty poor offensive minor league numbers and then went on to be a good MLB player? I too am waiting for these examples. I'm sure there are some, but they're few and far between. That said, Trayce is still ahead of Avi on my depth chart without a second thought.

Escobar is seen as a a difficult teammate. Not passing judgment on whether the Sox should have gotten him or not, but it's relevant, especially when it personality came up in the Lawrie thread.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) Perhaps we aren't sufficiently addressing the real issue: Is it reasonable to expect LaRoche to have a bounce back season, or has his age already spelled the end of his effectiveness? I still don't know how much credibility to attach to the claims that he was injured last season. If that were the case, you could consider keeping him, as a DH, and just moving him further back, in the order. Providing that he could put up respectable offensive numbers, at least in a platoon role, that might be acceptable. Go get a potent middle of the order bat to play RF, in place of Avi, and go with a lineup like this: Eaton CF Melky LF Abreu 1B ????? RF (preferably a LH hitter, but any solid run producer) Lawrie 3B LaRoche DH vs. RHP Avila/Navarro C Saladino SS Sanchez 2B (I would love to see Carlos eventually emerge as an effective 2 hole hitter. That is where he has had his best Minor League success} I've put as much stock in the injury theory as anybody, but hearing that the Sox are so eager to get out from under LaRoche's deal has me reconsidering.

White Sox deal Jaye for LHP Will Lamb from Texas

One of the coolest names in the system, gone. -
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 02:18 AM) Valve finally ruined Counterstrike You talking about the revolver? They'll nerf it, won't they?

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) I don't see the Sox signing Cespedes or Upton. Why not trade for Puig? Because of his off-the-field issues in LA? I think they're referring to his recent domestic violence incident, not just the standard "guy's a d***." I don't know the latest on it so I won't offer my opinion.

Hoping we don't sell out for Frazier. And if we do, we might as well go and grab one of the outfielders. Been thinking about Alex Gordon as a better fit than Upton b/c defense and lefty.

Obviously everybody likes this. I do too, for a few reasons that are not original. 1. We didn't give up that much. 2. Even a down year from Lawrie is an upgrade for the position. 3. #grinderball 4. The Royals hate Lawrie and f*** them.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) +1 Like seriously. It's not too late. All we've done is sign two cheap catchers to one year deals and traded I-don't-even-remember-who for Tommy Kahnle. It's not too late to pivot. KENNY.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Yeah, that's the extent I'd be comfortable, and realize it's an overpay. Sadly, everything seems to be an overpay now. I know this has been discussed a bunch in the Shelby Miller thread, but if this is the environment, perhaps the Sox should stop trying to patch together a playoff team next year and get on the right side of all the overpays.

Bundle of talent.

Rangers “Surveying” Rival Clubs On Prince Fielder
shysocks replied to BlackSox13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No way. Makes no sense. I'd rather just hang onto LaRoche than take on that whale... of a contract. What the effing eff was Texas thinking? -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) Cespedes was worth 6.7 WAR last year, but he's usually a 3 WAR player. Whoever gets him is going to pay a big premium for his career year, I don't like it. You beat me to it. I just don't like Cespedes. Stay away.

Sure, stuff like that makes my eyes roll too. But ultimately, like... how is it harming anyone?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 6m6 minutes ago Spoke with Vandy baseball coach Tim Corbin who raved about White Sox #1 pick Carson Fullmer. "He’s the nicest, meanest kid I’ve ever seen." Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 3m3 minutes ago Tim Corbin says that Carson Fullmer is "the strongest-willed kid we've had come through." More than David Price and Sonny Gray. #WhiteSox Paging @PFTCommenter.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) What value does Jon Jay has? Jon Jay is a credible Major League Baseball player. He has six seasons. Each is better than Avi's best.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:56 AM) What's your history with the Star Wars movies? Did you see them in the theater on release, or other methods later? Do you not really get into them at all? Vote and comment on your experiences! I'm pretty into them. Not to the extremes that many people reach, but I quote them / know some peripheral characters / get goosebumps watching the FA trailers. Saw the original trilogy when they did the theatrical re-release in the '90's. I don't remember having any concept of the movies before then, so when people get upset about Han Shot First and all the dumb added CG, I have no frame of reference for that. Also saw the prequels as they came out in theatres, and along similar lines I remember not hating them as much as others. If anything it was the acting that ruined them for me, not any retconned lore and whatnot.

Of 160 relievers who threw 40 or more innings last season, Motte had the 11th highest fly ball rate. That'll play well in Denver. Teams watched the Mets blow a few games in the World Series and now the relief market has ticked up. #TradeRobertson?

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) They have Peralta at SS Thanks, forgot about him. So they have to move somebody.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) Weird trade. For real. Cards have Wong at 2B so I guess they'll move Gyorko to short? I wouldn't want Gyorko on the Sox, and we have all kinds of room for him in the infield.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) How long do you think it will be before you can just walk up for tickets? I know it depends where you are (how many screens), but I'd rather not deal with the Cosplayers and fanboys (no offense). I bet you'll have to wait a week at most.
