Yeah, when does the scheduled MRI get announced? Right after the game? Tomorrow?

ST: 3/19 vs Reds- 3pm
Hopefully, Santiago gets Danks spot if and when he starts the season on the DL. I really don't want Axlerod in there... Make the right choice Robin/Coop.

So, is Troncoso on this team? And if so whats his role? Long? He's been impressive this spring. Love that sinker. Would come in handy in some runners on jams this season...

Brad Stephens: bring the brick and ivy to Rosemont
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Care to explain? Neighborhood restrictions force the entire team to play on a weird schedule. They don't have the regular day/night splits as the other 29 teams. Up until 88 they played no night games at all, 70+ day games at home. I can't even imagine. The ball does different things at night than it does during the day. Ball players are creatures of habit, I would imagine having to play the Cubs schedule messes with that. Especially if you're new to the team. I would imagine the facilities are less than ideal as well in the clubhouse. That would affect injuries and again those habits, if you're used to modern and nice locker rooms. For years Wrigley has been the bigger attraction than the actual team, which means the various owners were sitting on a cash cow, they found no need to care about the product on the field if the "fans" didin't seem to care either. They became complacent -- and to some extent still are. The biggest thing to me, which is completely mental, is the "mystic" of the park. Being able to win a title in the "hallowed" Wrigley Field (which has NEVER happened) has to get into the heads of the players. If they had a nice modern ballpark, where they knew people showing up were there FOR THE TEAM, where the day/night schedule was normal for 162 games a year, where the pressure was off if even a little bit (100+ years is still pressure, obviously) I think they could take the revenue you make at all new parks and actually use it wisely (a Big if) then I could see them breaking the "curse". I mean, the Yankees won 26 titles in Yankee Stadium. They knock it down and build a new park and in it's FIRST SEASON, win a title. If the Yankees can make dur with a new park, so can the Cubs.

Wrigley Field is the biggest obsticle in the way of the Cubs winning a World Series. If they moved into a new location, I wouldn't be surprised if they won a title within 5 years of the place opening.

I think the Only reason Dunn has been batting third is cause Rios is away at the WBC. Once he comes back he should be in the three hole from now on. (At least I hope Robin is smart enough.

Sox announce next round of cuts
Gordon's glove is the only thing I'd miss about him. But if we sacrifice defense for more offensive production out of an infield of Gillaspie-Ramirez-Keppinger-Konerko so be it.
-
ST: 3/16 vs Oakland- Sale starts
Keppinger has third base locked up, eh Melton? Conor has outplayed him so far and that double only makes his case to be the starter even stronger...

ST: 3/14 at Angels
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) He pitched 80+ innings last year. He missed like 60% of the season, not an entire season. I'll expect him to wind up somewhere close to his averages until I'm given a reason to think otherwise. If he's not ready, then this team won't throw him out there to start the season, but he's been on a throwing routine since January that they call normal. It seems like he's right at the usual place when guys have bad outings in ST as they extend their arms and work on their control. I wouldn't even count those innings he did pitch last year, since that wasn't really Danks and it was obviously pretty fast that something was up. I'm just saying its been a whole season since he was 100% and I hope he gets back to that in 2013, but I wouldn't be shocked if he's not "back to normal" until 2014. Thankful there is depth in Santiago...

Got a feeling Danks will be the weakest link of the rotation this season. Not a big surprise those, no matter how bad an injury is missing an entire season is tough for anyone to bounce back from right away. Maybe for the stretch run he will be pitching better. (And that will matter for the team)

First Rotation Decision
The way Danks has been pitching so far, he needs to be #5 until he gets his sea legs and velocity back.

2012-13 Music Thread
QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 2, 2013 -> 07:19 AM) I saw Gaslight Anthem on Thursday night at First Avenue. Hot damn, they were fantastic. Bouncing Souls were good too. I was also pleasantly surprised by the first opener, Cory Branan. Such a fun/great show. I really need to see them live. Although I did think "Handwritten" was a step back musically for them from "American Slang", maybe they'll just play the few songs I did like from Handwritten haha.

Fangraphs: What's required for a Paul Konerko infield hit?
I can't remember off the top of my head, but has Paulie ever been thrown out at first from the outfield? I'd have to think its happened once.

Really hope Wilkins can put together a solid season. Would really help if Paulie winds up walking to fill the first base position.

5 Questions: White Sox
QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 4, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) I think his point was that the fact that the Sox scored the 4th most runs in the AL last year might have been inflated by our home park. I still say that's more of an advantage than anything. It's not like the league adjusts your record based on Park Factors. Who cares if the park helped the offesive numbers? Good. Hope it helps again.

5 Questions: White Sox
So the offense is gonna struggle in 2013 because last year it was inflated by the home park they're, what, going to somehow not play in anymore? What a dumb argument.

3.4.13 Sox/Giants Gamethread
Since teams can kinda be liberal with their Spring Training/BP hats, I would have loved for them to put the Diamond Sock logo on the cap instead of the S-O-X. Think that would have looked sweet.

Gordon already looks like he's given up on the new batting stance. That bat is looking upright the whole time again. The squat is still there however...
