  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) I'd freak out about that Q trade. In a good or bad way? I don't know anything about the players besides Turner.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 08:52 AM) Clever again. Sure I do. I've never suggested trading for him though. Would I take the 4 we traded over the comp pick? In a heartbeat. I'd take Lawrie. Just don't want to trade much talent for Lawrie. We got Ynoa too who I think will be a good bullpen piece which will likely cancel out Bassitt (as I think he ultimately ends up there).
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) I like Lawrie as the best available and immediate option of the third baseman.. McMahon is a preferred choice no doubt but even if the Sox were to get him, McMahon still needs time in the minors since he's just played AA ball to this point and likely starts at AAA in '16. I hear ya about trading with Oakland though. Not a big fan of the idea myself. If Billy wants too much for Lawrie then I have no problem with looking elsewhere. The Sox have young pitching, the Rockies have young hitting so there's a potential matchup for a trade and Hahn has said he is open to trading minor league pitching for minor league hitting. Another idea would be to trade Anderson for McMahon since the Sox need a 3B for the future and the Rockies need a SS for the future. Especially after the s*** the Reyes has put himself into off the field and is looking more like he needs to play 2B on the field. Anderson is rated #38 fwiw so there's a potential fit there as well. I think they have a short stop in the high minors almost ready. Plus I think they drafted on with their first pick last year.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) Should the White Sox be interested in Andre Ethier if the Dodgers would eat LaRoche's contract? Ethier is 33 years old and is owed $37.5 million the next 2 years. How much would the Dodgers have to eat? Ethier put up a 2.9 fWAR and had a wRC+ of 137 last year. He was really good vs RHP. Vs RHP: .385 wOBA, 150 wRC+, high .336 BABIP, with a .900 OPS. My question is: What would it take? Who would the Dodgers have to take back in return and how much money would they have to eat? Ethier would give the Sox the LH run producer against RHP that they need and if they could dump LaRoche, it could give them flexibility with DH spot. Dodgers wouldn't be interested in LaRoche for Ethier. 1) already have Gonzalez at first 2) Ethier is useful and likely their starting RF next season (probably moving Puig this offseason) We would have to include something significant to make it worth their time for them to take on LaRoche and cut him and pay him for the full season. Our farm isn't deep enough to make that type of move.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:34 AM) I didn't see that. I'll edit it then. I think he will go to the Padres if/when Cashner and/or Ross is traded.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:31 AM) Re-sign Alexei. Attempt to sign Jae-Gyun Hwang. Failing that, trade for Brett Lawrie. See if there's any interest in a junk for junk trade involving Danks/LaRoche. Pick up a bad contract in the deal, but at a more useful position (Ethier, Crawford, Frazier) Danks is a fine 5th starter. Would rather move LaRoche. But it would take more to get Ether anyway. Frazier isn't a "junk" contract either.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:07 AM) If the White Sox sign Doug freaking Fister to a 3 year deal at $12 million a year, Hahn should be fired on the spot. Yeah I've seen he's only projected to get a one year deal to rebuild value and be a free agent in a class not as deep as this one.
  8. Trade for Lawrie. Really have no other ideas.
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) Once again, this should just make you appreciate the value of the contracts of Sale and Q. How Hahn got those done, I'll never understand. Pretty easy actually. Only one full year in the rotation so not a lot of leverage, could only negotiate with us, took the money for financial security, didn't buy out many free agent years (only 2 for Sale). Just wait for his next contract haha
  10. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) $18 million is the going AAV for Jeff Samardzija . How many years ? Source confirms one team has offered $90 million . https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/672598855163101184 Psh and people here thought he'd accept the QO.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) Would be interesting to see the package of it were Quintana for Russell + Agree. Then the Cubs could just use Baez at short.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) You rank Russell and Baez ahead of Schwarber? Interesting. I think think it's because of the fact they are both defensively gifted and have a position.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) the chance of laroche going to another team is like the chances of RV managing the sox ..... seriously i am not being a smartass. Wait what? The way you worded it makes it seem like there's 100% chance of LaRoche going to another team like there is a 100% chance of Robin managing the Sox.
  14. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) No offense but that lineup still sucks. We need an impact bat and we'll get one hell or high water. My gut says Frazier but my head says CarGo Yeah our middle of the order looks bad.
  15. I assume we'll sign a veteran to a minor league deal.
  16. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) Even if they're out of it they'll need someone to catch the baseball and throw it back to the pitcher. Unless either of those two just goes Buster Posey and their value explodes I can't imagine us dealing them. Even then, we'd just be more inclined to keep them for 2017 Also, let's not act like the White Sox will do us any favors and be out of it come midseason. They wait until August and September to collapse They could sign guys to minor league deals and call them up when/if that happens.
  17. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) something to do with him being out of options and he can now start the year in the minors. I don't think it was a minor league deal.
  18. He was projected to make $1 million in arb so I don't understand this.
  19. Do we know how much yet? I'll guess $2 million.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) I'm hearing Jays fans are upset because he was Estrada's personal catcher, and apparently Estrada was much worse when throwing to others. I believe he was Buehrle's personal catcher too.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) Flowers pitch framing was elite. Navarro's supposedly poor. Flowers did have a tough year behind the plate, Navarro is supposed to be decent behind the plate. This could be a good case study on the importance of pitch framing. Pitchers liked throwing to Flowers, but supposedly they like throwing to Navarro as well. All in all, it isn't an earth shattering upgrade, but perhaps change is good. Agree 100%. His pitch framing is good but he's not very good defensively.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) Is this just a prediction or do you know something that everyone else doesn't? Likely prediction.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) I wouldn't say we're "close" with him, I'd say he's a potential fit. Yeah title is misleading.
  24. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) I just don't see Dioner being THAT much better than Flowers. If they dumped Flowers I would imagine there's a bigger offensive acquisition incoming via trade. They'll probably save a million or two bringing Navarro in using saved money towards another player.
