My offseason plan: 1. Give qualifying offer to Samardzija 2.Decline Alexei's option (bring him back at like $4mill. $5 mi deal with the 1 mill buyout) 3. Trade Quintana maybe include Avi for a package that includes mlb/near mlb ready young position players (hopefully including a 3B, a C, an OF, and a SP spect) 4. Sign Kenta Maeda if he is posted The rest I'm not really sure on. Rotation of: 1. Sale 2. Maeda 3. Rodon 4. Danks/Fulmer 5. Johnson

QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) All three of these people should never see the field again this year... Good chance 2/3 won't. We have quite a few other guys here who also should never see the field again. Keep playing them...move up in the draft.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) I'm a little surprised they didn't have room for Carroll or Drabek just in case of this. Yeah they should have stacked up the bullpen with a lot of arms. They added what, 3 this month?

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) I'll check back at 10 when it's in the 6th inning... It may not even be the 5th inning at this rate.

Would be something to see Oakland bat around twice this inning.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) For like 6 days. Yeah then he got hurt but it didn't matter since he was just keeping the spot warm for Bryant for like ten days.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) Gray really doesn't look that impressive at all. How is his ERA so low? It seems like Sale and him should have their ERA's switched. You're basing this off one game...every one has off days.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 05:33 PM) May just be a 6-man from here.... Danks- vs Oak, at Cle, at NY, vs Det Smarj- vs Oak, at Det, at NY, vs Det Johnson-vs Oak, at Det, at NY, vs Det Quintana- vs Oak, at Det, vs KC Sale - at Cle, at Det, vs KC Rodon- at Cle, at NY, vs KC Might as well

Only a few things I know for certain about this offseason: 1. Sox issue QO to Samardzija 2. Sox decline Ramirez option (though I think he comes back cheaper). The rest is too unpredictable (although I do predict we trade Quintana).
-
For me personally, I want them to finish with a top ten pick so it gives them the option to sign a guy with a QO without giving up a first rounder. Of course, that doesn't mean they will but it at least gives them an option.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 12, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) 7 games with 23 left--can't really expect to fall that far behind. I just want the Sox to come in 5th in the division. That should make it easier to fire Robin and the coaching staff...oh wait... Gotta factor in we play a lot of divisional games. That can bury us. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 12, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) 9-14, including 2-5 vs the Tigers...yes, please. Also play a 4 game set against Oak who we're behind. -

2.5 back from the Tigers who are 8th but we play them 7 times. -

QUOTE ( @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) I just want Sale and Rodon to pitch well. Go Sox! Shark too. We don't want him increasing his chances of accepting a qualifying offer.

Mike Olt dfa'd by Cubs, claimed by White Sox

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) Uhg, I do not understand this in the least bit. If Olt gets playing time then Saladino loses playing time at 3B. Not a fan of this claim at all. Cannot believe I'm going to say this but I would rather have Gillaspie back in a Sox uni. At least Gillaspie could hit a little at the major league level. I bet Saladino still gets most of the starts there, some DH at bats and so m at short. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) i don't know about his stat wise, about his defense. but man, that avg.... but it doesn't hurt and nothing to loose. I remember reading that he is an average defender which is better than we ran out there the past few years. -

Sox ended up claiming him. Nothing to lose. -
It's understandable he'd be upset for not getting traded. QO hurts his value even more. Cueto and Price will not have draft pick compensation attached to them, along with lesser tier guys like Kazmiz and Latos. All those guys will sign before Shark. He will be a late February signing having to take the best offer (which will be less than he is aiming for right now).

Since there are no options in free agency for third and no one we want to trade is worth anything, we better trade Q for a haul that involves an MLB ready 3B and an MLB ready SP ready to step into rotation, among others. -

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) I see what you're saying. I just prefer to not use a roster spot on Olt in hopes maybe the Sox get a 3B over the winter to compete with Saladino in ST next year. Maybe (hopefully) even find a permanent 3B and give Saladino a shot at SS. Huh? Having a guy like Olt on the roster would not stop them from being able to upgrade the position in the offseason. If they claimed him soon and kept him into the offseason and they ended up trading Q in a deal for a young 3B MLB ready player, for example), then Olt can be dfa'd. And I agree about Saladino at short. Cheap stop-gap as opposed to picking up Alexei's option and I've been pushing for this. -

59 games, 9 homers, .265/.333/.468. He's k'd 71 times though but more deserving of a chance than Davidson. -

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 07:07 PM) B/c he sucks? Please tell me about all the other great options we have. Go ahead I'll wait. -
I hope we can grab this guy because why not

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) I'll go with all of those but Carroll. No point in bringing up AAAA players. Could see him coming up to be a mop up guy.
