  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 11:19 AM) Given the Yankees loss of Pineda now, they dropped the ball on Quintana They would have acquired Q to replace someone else, not Pineda.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Yankees SP Michael Pineda diagnosed with partially torn UCL Hmmm do they try to add another arm or decide to just wait out and sell in 2 weeks (whoever they can)?
  3. How much does Sandoval's salary effect the luxury tax over the next 2 years?
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #Nationals promoting relievers Trevor Gott and Austin Adams. Sammy Solis back to minors. K-Rod not currently under consideration. Last ditch effort to figure out who can stick before deciding how many guys you need before deadline?
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 10:51 AM) Very interesting that they list 5 positional players ahead of Beer and Gray isn't one of them. Poor defense seems to hurt his value. Would not be mad at the idea of drafting him with idea for LF and fallback option being 1B.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) The Sox should be willing to eat nearly all of Frazier's bill to improve the return. I'm like 80% sure he was talking about Sandoval. If he was, our payroll is going to be so low next 2 years, I would strongly consider it if the Red Sox would send a few prospects to make it worth our while.
  7. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 09:32 AM) Hawk referred to Samardzija and Sale as the "Captains of Attitude" in 2015. In his honor, I will refer to Shields as the "Captain of Tank" The Tank Commander
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 09:46 AM) Melky would be an upgrade for the Royals at DH and a offensive upgrade in LF. Since he's not worth much regardless, trade him for high K and high BB Skoglund I think he fits perfectly in Tampa to replace Rasmus.
  9. Pablo Sandoval dfa'd.
  10. Rodon Shields Holland Gonzalez Pelfrey The rotation of a tanking team.
  11. Fit all top 100 prospects that we have.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) The goal should be Robertson & cash for Kieboom & Luzardo. Hell, I'd probably throw Swarzak in too if necessary, although I'd probably want a lottery ticket added to the mix. Kieboom would provide us with a high-end prospect that could eventually fill in on the left side of the infield and Luzardo gives us a much needed left-handed arm. Agree. I would settle on that but definitely shoot higher.
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) Will probably be Saladino and Gonzalez. this
  14. Colby Rasmus stepping away from baseball for the rest of the season. Melky Cabrera, come on down!
  15. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) I'd consider moving him, but he needs another year (at least) to build up his value. Maybe next year's deadline, if all goes well. We control him for another 4 years after this one. Agreed. Maybe even that off-season (2018-2019).
  16. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) Gut reaction is an asset like Q should never be traded to the Cubs, especially without them paying WELL over market value. Not sure how I feel about the return yet, want to do a deeper dig on the prospects before coming to a conclusion there. Why do they need to pay well over if it's already the best offer?
  17. I think Robertson gets traded in next couple weeks (not necessarily a bold prediction and not necessarily to Nats), Kahnle stays as closer, gets marketed and traded as a cheap, controllable closer in off-season, Jones takes over as closer in 18 assuming his arm doesn't fall off.
  18. 2020 seems completely optimistic. Some of these guys will only be 22 at that point maybe making their MLB debuts. I'm thinking closer to 2022.
  19. Now the tank can truly commence.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) Jose Quintana will NOT be a member of the White within 72 hours. Dave wouldn't double-down on the smoke here unless he had something of substance. He posts the eyes kind of often though. Any tweet over the past few months regarding Q. Of course, now there seems to be even more smoke.
  21. The one week where I am unusually busy at work!
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) I can't believe anyone bought into it either. A oft injured A ball pitcher who is on the brink of a promotion and on an innings count, gets pulled from a start with stormy weather, add that to a top prospect who has been inactive, not being in the line up, add that to a supposed Ken Rosenthal tweet, yanked so fast no one has a screen shot, about a possible unusual trade. Ignore Rosenthal's facebook page post about a crazy potential trade between Miami and Philadelphia , clearly it's Quintana to the Cubs. I think he just meant in general since Tuesday.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Yeah I loved when we had that setup with Kotsay That was also more of a platoon since Kotsay only played against righties (with Andruw Jones against lefties). They played Kotsay at 1B a lot with Paulie at DH and DH'd Quentin with Jones in RF often. Honestly, it wasn't bad (considering the season our next DH had the following year...). Edit: just checked their numbers that year. Jones was a very good platoon bat but Kotsay was underwhelming and him more towards the bottom third anyway.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) Thing is, nice DHs aren't very hard to find, and they aren't that expensive. That is a roster spot you if fill via FA when you're ready, not waste a precious asset like Q on. I'd be fine with Schwarber as a part of a Q deal, but only in a something that also includes Eloy. Which I doubt is going to happen. I agree. Or you use it as a rotating spot. Like you have 9 guys capable of playing at least close to average defense (say like 4 potential every day OF) but each day one gets to rest their legs and DH.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 07:57 AM) On the red line radio podcast, WSD said Sox talking to Brewers, Braves and Cubs but also are deep in talks with Houston Excellent.
