  1. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) Chicago is looking to fetch a hefty ransom of prospects in exchange for the 31-year old. While the White Sox aren’t opposed to trade Robertson now, they’re not quite trigger happy over striking a deal. Robertson’s value will only grow by the time the July non-waiver trade deadline rolls around, giving Chicago the biggest change to double their return. It definitely seems like they don't want to trade him at a reduced price so those hoping otherwise can stop dreaming.
  2. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2017/1/30/1444...rtson-white-sox Just saw this article got posted, I wonder if it's old news or if it means talks have advanced? I think it is new. Wasn't the report this weekend that the Blue Jays discussed Robertson (which I assume means internally)?
  3. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) Anyone want to hack our databases for 2 draft picks and $2 million? I'd take that trade.... Lol along with sending us a bad contract with a prospect.
  4. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) #Rays released Coats because he tore UCL (the day he was claimed) and needs Tommy John surgery. #WhiteSox and this is why
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) Possibly, but doubtful Pick outside of the top 50 are pretty much a crapshoot, and your chances of landing impact talent are far lower than in the first round, specifically top half The additional bonus pool money might be interesting though I wasn't really referring to the picks coming our way but more as a reason the Astros may be willing to deal the guys already there since they can make up some of the prospect depth in June.
  6. Stolen from the minor league catch-all thread: Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo now MLB awards Cardinals' two top picks (no. 56 and no. 75) in 2017 draft to Astros. Cardinals will pay $2M fine to Houston. With the additional picks, maybe the Astros would be more willing to match our request in a deal?
  7. QUOTE (striker @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) Q will go to the Yankees. They have a ton of prospects they can include without Torres or Frazier. That have the the greatest need for a SP between Atl, Pit, and Hou. If he goes to the Yankees, I could see it possibly happening in July, but there should be plenty of rentals out there as well.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) I don't know if he would or not, but that was an example. Gotcha.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) And let's be honest. If the Pirates called today and said they would send us Meadows in a Q deal, Bourjos would be relegated to fighting for a job in spring training with Tilson to be the back up OF. You think Meadows would break camp with the team? I'd rather have him in the minors to start the year to get the extra year of control.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) Those two are attached at the hip. Anyone remember the fake snapchat that someone made around the end of July from Moncada's snapchat saying he was traded? Kind of funny how it ended up happening (just about 4 and a half months later.
  11. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) The more I read about Kopech, the happier I get. Scouts seem to be really high on his potential to develop into a FV 60 grade starting power pitcher. We still need to add to the farm, but we have a nice collection of arms to work with in Giolito, Kopech, Lopez, Fulmer, Hansen, Burdi, Stephens, Adams Yep. Just need a nice collection of bats now.
  12. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 08:01 AM) I think anytime a team rebuilds it's important to have that 1 vet that sticks with the team year after year...someone to model on and off the field. A "Paul Konerko" if you will--someone who is still mashing in his prime, but exemplary in conduct and being a professional. That person evolves as the face of the franchise and helps carry the team once they get good. Anthony Rizzo played that role for the Cubs and I think Todd Frazier is that guy for us. They might move him, but with the market being kind of low for 3rd basemen, I just have a gut feeling he's THE vet they would like to keep if they could. Plus, they went 3948 years without a quality 3rd basemen...just a gut feeling--nothing more. I'm not the GM, but I see a rare character gene in Frazier...something about him that screams great leader. Anthony Rizzo is a terrible example. He's basically in the same age range as everyone else on the Cubs' core.
  13. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 07:33 AM) Wow...Robertson to Toronto would mean Josh Donaldson would get no stats. Lol
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) That was my post and Hahn's comment was specifically about filling holes in free agency. Gotcha. I know it's fun to fantasize about someone like Machado coming here, but I just don't see the Sox giving out a $200+ million deal to one player when they haven't even given out a $100 million deal out to one person.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) Post 42 in this thread said SSS mentioned when the time is right the Sox will spend big .What the Sox idea of spending big means is any ones guess. I don't take that as "we will go out and sign the best free agent fit (Machado to play 3B for example). More long the lines I've spreading out a hood portion of money around the team's young kids. The ones who have succeeded anyway.
  16. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) If there is a leader the Sox should consider extending it's Melky Cabrera, who to my knowledge has never had to change lockers because he had problems w a teammate. Don't worry, that guy is gone.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) Must have been the Yanks coming to their senses and realizing McCutchen is not a fit considering the Yanks depth in the outfield at both the big league club and their minors. Could have been an interesting trade. Wonder what players were potentially heading to the Sox. Glasgow, Rutherford, Newman ++? The Yankees part of the deal never made sense.
  18. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) Very Hahn-like thing to say Lol right. Nothing to see here, move along.
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Don't really see the point here; it's not like he's a player who can be dressed up and flipped. Just old habits die hard, I suspect. Lol come on man. Possible 4th OF but more likely cut by the end of spring training. Literally every team signs guys like this.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 11:38 PM) You guys are all missing the point here(you're not), we can have Tilson and Bourjos starting together!! Technically yes they still could with Avi at DH haha
  21. QUOTE (Special K @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 10:30 PM) Anytime I hear the word platoon, it makes me want to throw up. Platoon = 2 players not good enough to start sharing time. The Sox outfield situation is in pretty terrible shape. That's where the most improvement needs to be made here forward as far as drafting and / or trading for prospects (in my humble opinion). I think Cubs are looking at a platoon of Baez and Schwarber (with Zobrist switching between LF anf 2B). Do they suck?
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 04:57 PM) Why would they platoon Tilson now? Maybe he's better than just a platoon guy. Bourjos is probably just another warm body for Spring Training. Tilson would get close to 75% of playing time so he'd basically be a regular. Of course, Bourjos would have to earn a spot.
  23. Potential platoon with Tilson?
  24. Wouldn't really mind trading him and then trying to sign him in the off-season.
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) Ya, I was just following along on twitter as I never looked at the Soxfest schedule but you're correct. Yeah that's why I was trying to make sense of your tweet.
