  1. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jan 27, 2015 -> 06:47 AM) Which of the nominees are LH bats? I voted for Brantly for that reason alone. Kottaras, Brantly and Nieto (when it matters)
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 25, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) Roch Kubatko @masnRoch · 2h 2 hours ago Told latest report has Jays ending negotiations for Duquette, an Os official said "That's what, the 4th time they've said that?" If things do stall, do you guys think that KW becomes an option again? The O's were asking for Jeff Hoffman, Max Pentecost, and Mitch Nay for Duquette. I don't think KW would require that compensation but what about something like Aaron Sanchez and D.J Davis? Yeah I'd let KW go for a prospect /young player or two
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) I think it will be Saladino over Garcia. Have to agree. Especially with Hahn saying that they are looking for a right handed hitting infielder.
  4. He should deal for Tank and then go to Toronto like next week haha that would really stick it to them
  5. You know, interest from us could scare them into paying 5/100 mill+. He may be worth it the first 2-3 years, but I feel it would also prevent them from extending Price or signing anyone next off season. I think 4/70-80 is my ceiling which won't get it done.
  6. Could the Sox get creative to add some more guaranteed money? Like a 4 year deal, 5th year option with a 5 mill buy out to guarantee an extra 5 mill on top of whatever he signs for for the 4 years.
  7. QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 01:18 host=) At that price I would sign Shields if Danks is traded or not. This. Wasn't it after the deadline last year when Hahn said he almost traded Danks but they couldn't agree to the players and amount of moving changing hands? I say move him for whoever will get you the most money off the books.
  8. QUOTE (lvjeremylv @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) Well, assuming the Sox pick up both of Sale's option years in 2018 and 2019 (for $12.5M and $13.5M, respectively), he'll hit the free agency market when he's 30. Max Scherzer just got $210M, and he's 30. So provided he's healthy, there's still a huge, huge payday awaiting Mr Sale in the off-season before the 2020 season. Let's hope the Sox re-work something with him before that and make sure he never hits the open market. Agree. He hits the open market and he's gone. Especially with the price of free agency going up every year a discount would still be a big amount.
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 07:46 AM) for many yrs the sox picked a college player instead of a hs'er esp when the hs'er was the best on the board. so again it will be how the sox address their priority. Mitchell over Trout...I think I just threw up again.
  10. I kinda think they might move Castro to clear some more salary to sign Shields (or deal for Hamelsl/Zimmermann) whether it is White Sox or not
  11. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) you have james " i cant win a big game to save my mothers life" shields as your #1? No I do not. Re-read the post please.
  12. Shields... Sale Samardzija Quintana Shields Danks Hope Danks is pitching well enough to move most of the money in May/June
  13. If I'm a betting man, I'd bet on Cubs attendance increasing significantly. Not saying they will be good, but there is at least some buzz around the team, way more than the past 3 off-seasons combined.
  14. I'm on board with James Shields if we can get him at 4 years. And Melky can't be traded yet without his approval since he just signed.
  15. QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) With Ken Rosenthal reporting "Some execs now believe (James Shields) is headed for a four-year deal, perhaps in the $70 million-$80 million range" I think the White Sox need to look into him. Shields would provide a post 2015 rotation guarantee that would be needed if Samardzija leaves. Man sign him and make him the fourth starter and try to move Danks.
  16. Not a big move to put them over the top, but Beachy would be nice. He also comes with either 2 or 3 years of control. Should be ready by May /June.
  17. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) Do you see Montas as a starter long term? I thought I saw somewhere that he projects to be a closer. He's a starter until he fails
  18. I would target Stassi first. I think Castro and his salary can be moved as more of a dump so the Astros can make a run at either Shields or Scherzer (an ESPN article earlier said they could be a sleeper for the latter)
  19. This guy didn't even receive a spring training invite. Minor league fodder at best.
  20. I don't believe Buehrle is a HOF. But I would love to see him come back and pitch whether it be as a 5th starter for a few years and then pen as a long reliever/spot starter to finish his career. That is, if he has at least 3-4 years left in him.
  21. Actually, having two good 1B on the roster, the only way Viciedo would have to play first is if either Abreu or LaRoche missed any significant amount of time.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) Matt Eddy ‏@MattEddyBA #WhiteSox sign RH power hitters 3B Andy LaRoche and 1B Chris Jacobs to minors deals, re-sign OF Michael Taylor http://bit.ly/1I8uhBI Could see LaRoche maybe winning a bench job to back up the infield and platoon with Gillaspie if Bonifacio has to play center for a period of time.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) Two Garcias, two LaRoches. Actually 3 Garcias. And two Danks.
  24. Campana I feel can win a job with a good spring as the 5th outfielder (Bonifacio as the primary back up/platoon 3B) with another right handed hitting backup infielder) incase Bonifacio has to start some games in the outfield against lefties.
  25. So is he going to wear 64? Would be kinda funny seeing a lineup that has the numbers 53, 64, 77 and 79 in it haha
