QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 11, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) Since there is no clear definitive #1 player, the draft is weaker and rankings are all over the place. 10 is a good place to be, because since there's no consensus a player that the Sox have highly rated on their board could fall to them. If there is no clear definitive #1 player, couldn't that mean it's a stronger class?

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 11, 2016 -> 07:23 AM) Man am I glad I went to bed. What in the actual f*** happened? Good luck against Hamels now lol That's how I feel lol I started new job downtown on Monday and training is exhausting so I crash early last night. Went to bed when it was like 10-5.

5/10 - White Sox @ Rangers Game Thread

Rangers defense hasn't looked too good in either series we played them. -
QUOTE (Wanne @ May 9, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) BS...I'd rather have Austin Jackson playing CF than Avila catching. And it's not even close.... Huh? I don't want Avila catching really. Those 2 positions aren't dependant on each other lol

Might as well let play May in center and bat 9th. I'm sure he could put up Jackson offensive numbers for league minimum with better d.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ May 9, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) I love Austin...even though we don't have Uber or Lyft anymore Definitely visit. It's worth it. You can take a few days here and drive to San Antonio for a day. What happened to Uber? I went there late August for a Bachelor party. -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 9, 2016 -> 05:03 PM) This pregame discussion has just about half as many posts as the entire game thread had yesterday lol. Mother's day and beautiful weather should probably do that. -
Avila back off of the DL, Sanchez down
Bob Sacamano replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah not much punch in Avila's bat anymore. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 8, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) Jacob May up to .260 average Any chance he can replace Jackson next year in center and just hit 9th? Would be a cheaper alternative I suppose and let Eaton remain in right.

Kang came back yesterday and hit 2 homers for the Pirates. On days he plays short for them, I really really like the Pirates lineup 1-8. Maybe they can add a power bat somewhere or trade for another arm in June/July.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) If he had the knack for stealing 40-50 bases as well, he might be the most valuable asset in the game... As far as that goes, we're going to hear 1,000,000 different trade proposals for Mike Trout now that Richards is going down to TJ. Is Danish, Sanchez, Engel enough? -
Bullpen spot for a few days (like I said in the Johnson thread). Gonzalez announced for another start on Monday.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 6, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) Is Ray one of those toolsy type players that the Sox were known for drafting 5-10 years ago? I hope not.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2016 -> 10:48 AM) If the exact same thing happened to John Danks, it would be a marathon of DFA posts. I thought EJ had a chance, but he was awful last night. They were hitting rockets everywhere. Unless they fanned, they hit it hard. So true.

There's an opportunity coming up after Tuesday where we would be able to skip our 5th starter spot with 2 off days around the Yankees series (Thursday before and Monday after).
-
It looks like the 5th starter spot will pitch again Tuesday. I think they will add a reliever for over the weekend and Monday and make an announcement on a transaction after the game Monday or Tuesday to add a starter (Gonzalez? Turner?) to start Tuesday.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 6, 2016 -> 07:30 AM) I honestly wouldn't mind giving Tommy Milone a chance. He couldn't be any worse than Danks or EJ. Why not? The other options aren't good anyway.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2016 -> 06:31 AM) Honestly, who cares about this right now? I'm not worried about next years rotation and Latos' impending free agency. So much could and probably will happen between now and then that will change things. Address 5th starter as soon as possible, worry about offseason and next season after this season is over And it's not even something that needs to be worried about in the offseason. With Sale, Quintana and Rodon in the front 3 spots, we could just add a veteran innings eater or bounceback type of guy. 5 he front of our rotation is strong enough to the point where we don't need to overpay in dollars or prospects on an ace like most teams.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 5, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) So who comes up? Are we about to get a starter from another team? Everyone that comes up is going to be nervous that they have to be perfect in order to stick, not a great thing to have. This is not really a serious question but; Should we just bring up Fulmer and let him face his bumps at the MLB level and learn? I'm guessing another reliever for next few days until the 5th starter spot comes up again.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) Actually this is very true. His leg is in the path before he gets teh ball. Doesn't look like much of a block. Could easily get through that as he did. -
