I've always found it interesting that JR fired Larry Himes after Himes was successful here as the White Sox GM. Yet he has kept Hahn on as the GM all these years. Can anybody really say that Hahn has been a better GM than Hines was?
-
I would have been better off being the owner.

With Burger and Moncada on the team something has to give here. Burger can hit and can't field. Moncada can field and can't hit anymore. Can one of them be traded now? I don't know if trades are permitted now. Is there a certain date were a trade can be made? I don't know what the rules are anymore in regards to trading. Perhaps somebody can tell me if trades can be made now.

I really believe I would have been better off being the owner of the team as opposed to being the GM. I didn't have the money years ago to buy the team and I certainly don't have the money now. Its really a shame that I never owned the White Sox. I think I would have been a great owner.

Perhaps I should write JR another letter requesting a interview for the GM job.

Veeck also gave the Senators $150,000 when he traded Battey and Mincher.

Finley might have been a terrible owner to work for but he won numerous championships in Oakland. Veeck traded off every young White Sox star after the 1959 season. (Cash, Callison, Battey, Romano, and Mincher) Those trades cost the team at least 2 pennants in the 1960s. Veecks second ownership of the White Sox produced four of the worse teams in the history of the franchise. Veeck also wanted to move the team to Denver. Everybody has there own opinion but I would rather have had Finley as the owner of the White Sox.

Jack Brickhouse contacted one of the business people in Chicago who came up with the rest of the money that Veeck needed. Brickhouse was the announcer for the White Sox for years on Channel 9. He didn't want to see the White Sox leave Chicago. He still had a soft spot in his heart for the White Sox.

In 2020 Moncada hit 225 and last year he hit all of 212. He's had one great season offensively (in 2019). I think we are stuck with him. I wouldn't think too many teams would want him.

Burger can hit but can't field. Moncada can field and hasn't hit the last 3 seasons. Also Moncada is making alot of money. I can't help but wonder if Moncada will be traded. i would like to think the White Sox would have to pickup some oh his money if he gets traded.

SOX WIN!!!!, SOX WIN!!!!, HOLY COW, SOX WIN!!!!

Charlie Finley bidded to buy the White Sox. The Comiskey family sold the team to Veeck instead. I always wished that Finley had bought the team that year instead of Veeck.

White Sox historian Richard Lindberg once wrote that building the upper decks in 1927 changed the character of the park and should have never been built.

I like your positive opinions.

Burger can hit but can't field. Moncada can field and can't hit anymore BUT makes millions of guaranteed dollars. Something has to give here. The only way out of this is trading Burger. I can't imagine anybody trading for Moncada or him being released. -

I like you optimism!!! I agree with you. Its going to be a great year and the team is playoff bound. -
I can't help but wonder how Cohen reacts if the 2023 Mets have a bad year.

A good move. He'll help the team get into the 2023 Playoffs. -
Its going to be a playoff year for the White Sox. White Sox fans will be dancing in the streets this October.

Its going to be a great season. The White Sox will be going to the playoffs in 2023. -
I read on the CWS site that they think Montgomery could be switched to third base. Both Andersons and Moncadas contracts have 2 years to go. Maybe they might sign Anderson and put Montgomery at third base in 2025.

If the White Sox had moved to Florida they would have played in a Minor League stadium in Tampa during the 1989 season. (Al Lange Field) They would have moved into the Suncoast Dome in 1990. It would have been the biggest mistake of JRs life had he moved the team to Florida. He has said in the past that he would have sold the Bulls if he had moved the White Sox to Florida. So instead of being part owner of the Chicago White Sox, Part owner of the Bulls, Part owner of the United Center and part owner of the Chicago Tv station his teams are on, he would have been part owner of the Florida/Tampa Bay White Sox. The Tampa Bay Rays have been thru 4 ownerships already. If they don't get another stadium when the present lease runs out that team will move somewhere else. Another positive thing happened after the White Sox remained in Chicago. Eddie Einhorn left the scene. He was the one person who really wanted to move the team. When that didn't happen he sold most of his White Sox shares to JR and left Chicago.

I've given up on being the GM. JR doesn't respond to any of my letters anymore. Its really a shame because I've told him some of my ideas for the team/franchise and he doesn't respond to me. Oh well.

When I use to work for a living it was hard going to the White Sox games. Now that I'm retired I'm glad to be a season ticket holder. I'm in a 20 game package and I usually go to at least 30 games a year. I'm thankful to be able to do this. I love the team win or lose. Its the only team and only sport I care about and I'm glad to renew every year.
