Grandal, Abreu, Leury, Vaughn, and Eloy are double play machines which is why i dont understand how this team can be ok taking a contact approach. Its a waste. We ranked 27th in GDP.

The CBA is expiring which means the Players Union and MLB have to come together to discuss a new contract. There will be a slew of changes to the game and how players are compensated that will need to be ironed out by the end of the year. Unfortunately if they dont come to an agreement then all baseball activity is halted until they do. Disagreements in 1994 cancelled the season for example. Players are upset that they arent being compensated fairly for how much money the game is bringing in. TV rights and gambling have been incredibly profitable for the owners, however the players dont receive anything there. It could get ugly.

theres no way there isnt a lockout this season. I am hopeful it isnt for long but the writing is on the wall

And thats concerning. The usual contending teams have a high launch angle with the surprising Giants as #1.

The Astros took advantage of our offensive coaching. They WANT you to hit groundballs, infield defense is their strength and man did they put it on display. Their shifts were impeccable. Menechino told these guys all year to just hit for contact, dont worry about loft, dont worry about launch angle, just hit for contact. Well we developed into a ground ball hitting club and got slaughtered for it. 3rd in MLB in GB% and DEAD LAST in FB%.. Cant happen again.

Nitengale: La Russa "definitely" returning to the Sox
Its a system issue. Dave Roberts said he didnt have a choice on who started game 5. The organization did. We had a 70% chance to win game 2. The moves made there were total head scratchers, and the lack of shifting easily cost us multiple runs. Also calling out the Rays is laughable, they have one of the lowest payrolls in the league and didnt benefit from tanking and trading generational talent for easy top prospects. The Rays will be good for another decade with how their minor leagues are breaking records. Our window will close and we will be bottom feeders again playing 1995 baseball.

Currently watching two poised 25 year olds pitch in the NLDS game 5 clincher. Wish Cease could be that.

cant wait to lose to another forward thinking team in the next ALDS!

I think Crochet is gone this offseason, his development is so off track. Hes either a reliever with us or a starter elsewhere. I am only saying that because he hasnt been stretched out at all and i cant imagine relief duty is what he wants to do to start his career. The time to stretch out his arm isnt during our window imo.

yes it is, highly likely going to be a lockout

Rick Hahn 2021 End of Season Press Conference
Why would Hahn leave? He has job security as long as Jerry is alive.

ALDS Game 4 - HOU @ CWS - 1:07 pm CDT
Unfortunately they showed their colors for the baseball world to see. White Sox fans got a lot of hate yesterday. Truly embarrassing.

If you want to feel disgusting look at their GB% and FB%. Top 3 in GB% and worst in FB%. We were also hitting 46% ground balls AT HOME... worst in the league. Hitting approach needs some major work. I also checked the team in September because surely that was a bench player thing but nope, still bad at full strength. Saw more of the same in the postseason as we all know. With this core theres no excuse to be driving the ball into the ground like this. None. Guess who leads the league in a low GB% and high FB%? LAD, HOU, BOS, SFG, ATL, TBR..

Wheeler would have been perfect, no Keuchel, and a a TOR starter. Damn his wife!

Madrigal
I get we needed bullpen help, Tepera was a tremendous addition, but if they were going to trade Madrigal, Pilkington, and Heuer I wish it was for a player that had more impact than a closer/setup man. Kimbrel got 1 out. What kind of RF, 2B, or SP could we have gotten for a package of the 3?

Nice eulogy for this year's team.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Im about ready to say the same thing to the whole front office, replacing them with Rays and Dodgers interns.

It would be so White Sox to trade away their #4 (already done) and #3 picks for failing veterans. If they trade Vaughn for more of the same I think im going to have to take a break from baseball.

Grade this year's trade deadline
im still shaking my head that we gave up Pilkington after the year he was having TO OUR RIVAL who develops pitching studs year after year for a .600 OPS hitter. Yes Cesar had a .600 OPS with us this year. What a terrible job Hahn did
-
Looking back and forward
Agreed, you dont look at 30 some innings of good relief work and think thats worth your #4 pick and a relief prospect with tremendous upside. Just a terrible trade, and before you say im using hindsight i said the same thing in the kimbrel trade thread when it went down. Now Hahn has to worry about 2b, Cesar CANNOT be the answer.

I just read that shifting is actually included in DRS, so that could also play a factor in going from the top to the bottom. My god.. how does the FO allow this to happen?
-
Grade this year's trade deadline
It is now an F, Hahn does it again!
-
Looking back and forward
This is unacceptable, plain and simple. We cannot waste another year being stuck in the stone age. edit: is DRS affected by shifting?

Looking back and forward
This is a good point and one I was thinking of when I read this article a few weeks back: https://sports.yahoo.com/no-days-off-freddie-freeman-pushes-braves-teammates-to-play-every-game-140954730.html Freddie Freeman is our Jose Abreu, but team philosophy differed a lot here. Its just interesting to me how the Braves and their "no days off" approach has them vying for a league championship while our rested guys looked gassed since the start of the series. We never did play as a team and just couldn't turn it on in the postseason even with all the rest. Looking at the Astros in the final month they played as a team all throughout September, no days off either.
