News on TV Deal
Nope. It's still owned 40% by Reinsdorf, 20% by Wirtz, 20% by Ricketts, and 20% by Comcast, and will be that way until the contract ends after the 2019 season.

News on TV Deal
Comcast owns NBC. They just changed the name so the branding was the same and had synergy with NBC Sports nationally.

Sox/Twins makeups announced
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 10:58 AM) I kinda feel like they should just schedule 2 of them the last weekend of the season and have a 5-game series. With expanded rosters that isn't an issue. I kinda feel like the team competing for a playoff spot may have a problem with that.

Spring Games on TV/Web
QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 02:27 PM) Yikes, 55 games on WGN will screw a lot of downstate folks. Were there that many last year? The games that WGN has always had the rights to but aired on WPWR are now all on WGN. So no different than it's been the last decade.

Cumulus Media trying to drop White Sox/Bulls from WLS
QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 04:51 PM) It matters in terms of the direction of content. The Score rarely has White Sox players, coaches and front office members on unless it is Mully and Hanley in the morning. Spiegel and Parkins are both Cubs fans so they rarely talk about the White Sox and I’ve only heard B&G talk with the Sox twice since they started their show. Spiegel isn't a 'Cubs fan', he's from New Jersey.

I don't get all the vest love. It was a 2000s fad that thankfully died.

Cumulus Media trying to drop White Sox/Bulls from WLS
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 08:12 AM) If they are losing money on the radio deal, that isn't a very good sign for the TV deal that comes up next year. Eh, the 2 really have nothing to do with each other. Very different business models, at least on the cable side.

Dan Hayes Leaving White Sox Beat
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) I don't watch the Cubs much but was Patrick Mooney used on their telecasts as much as Dan was on the White Sox? Maybe they are starting to prepare for the Cubs fleeing and like Gonzo with the Tribune only in reverse, Mooney will switch to the White Sox when they flee. Mooney and Myers are now out as well.

Get In It Musicfest 2017 (Sept. 16th)
No one actually knows what happened the Sox and Chance. For all we know, he wanted to be paid X to wear the hat or he'd wear his own, and the Sox said "no, that's okay". Regarding MCD, Lolla performers have a non-compete, they can't perform within X miles for so many months following the festival. So many MCD returns next year, who knows.

Players weekend
Very odd that they would use the 70s-80s font on the hat but the current block print on the shirt. Looks like someone goofed. Would look much better in navy with the correct font matching the hat.

07/25 GT: Sox @ Cubs game 2, 1:20 PM
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) It's not the Cubs, they are asking to have more and more night games, it's the "neighbors" of Wrigley. Their property values go up, but they don't want to deal with the other effects of a ballpark nearby. Can blame them a little, though, because they concede home games to hold concerts.

Attendance is Actually up 8.1%
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) Can you get a good seat on the lower level for under 40 bucks? 90% of the time they aren't checking tickets, whether it be at the entrance to the 100 level or at the seats themselves. Just buy a $7 ticket and sit wherever, this isn't hard. Should be a bit of a better crowd tonight with the shirts - the $7s are actually all gone and the $20s are getting close.

Day Two Draft Discussion
QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 04:10 PM) "Senior 1B/3B/P Sammy Abbott (whose mother was an Olympic swimmer) was named 2nd team all-4A SPSL as a designated hitter during his sophomore season and has continued to produce at the plate since, earning an honorable mention last season. A multi-sport star who has spent time in the USA Water Polo program, Abbott recently signed on to play water polo at Long Beach State, where he also hopes to continue his baseball career as a walk-on." Strange pick Abbott plays a sport where you can only use 1 hand

Attendance is Actually up 8.1%
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) I do know at least one Cub fan who has been going to Sox games this year because he can't afford to go to Cubs games anymore. He should check Stubhub on a weeknight. Very easy to get into Wrigley for $15-20.

POSTPONED: Opening Day Game Thread 2017
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) They have been making this move for years. But only when it is going to be a big crowd. If they were expecting 11k, this game would have been called by noon. Yep. An absolute disgrace.

Been hanging out in the BPB a lot the last few years, so I've got no problem with going down there. Usually will spend the middle innings there and come back up around the 7th.

In Market Streaming!
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) Couple of thoughts This is a blow to Cubs owned station if MLB does not green-light streaming for them. Would I be able to watch the Sox anywhere if I have a cable package? I really don't think a full Cubs owned station is ever going to happen. Fully team owned stations very quickly became a thing of the past, with teams realizing there was more value in guaranteed dollars from the networks. Examples: - The Yankees sold 80% of YES to FOX - The Dodgers partnered with Time Warner for theirs - The Indians sold STO to FOX The only reason the Red Sox haven't sold off NESN is that Jeremy Jacobs won't let them (Bruins own 20%). What will happen is either FOX or NBCUniversal will give the Cubs a channel, and it'll be part of the existing streaming deal. There isn't going to be a CubsNet without a media partner backing it.

Poll: Are you still watching games?
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 06:51 PM) I guess though it's kind of grim for most Chicago sports fans unless you are a Cub fan or a BLackhawks fan. Well, most people like at least 1, so...
