  1. Cubs/Cards was just one example. Maybe Yankees/Red Sox was a better one.
  2. It'll happen next year in the new CBA.
  3. I've always thought the SOX not being with Cleveland and Detroit, along with Milwaukee, was stupid and why the team really doesn't have any historical rivalries, like the Cubs have with St. Louis. And the Brewers maybe never leave the AL if they had a real rivalry with the SOX.
  4. The Cubs were terrible from 72-83 and really didn't draw any better than the SOX. It may have started in '69 and the few years after, but it really became a Cubs town after the Trib bought the team and started selling "beautiful Wrigley Field", along with the SOX going to Sportsvision.
  5. State at that point was allowing 25% capacity. City wasn't having any of it, though.
  6. I hope the players see the light and come to the realization that a cap would actually be in their best interest, as they then could guarantee a floor and a 50/50 revenue split like the other leagues have. As it stands now, the luxury tax is already acting as a cap, might as well go all in or they'll continue to see their percent share of revenue dwindle.
  7. Anyone who thinks the PA should have accepted or countered, read the whole thread:
  8. That's all part of the problem, though. Yes, Joc misread his market by turning that down, but the SOX also misread the market by being in such a fucking hurry to sign a RF, rather than waiting until these last couple of weeks when the bargains begun. Maybe Eaton would've taken less by now, and that extra money could've used on a better 5th starter than Rodon.
  9. Paying out 13% of revenue would be fucking criminal! Baseball needs a ~50/50 split like NFL/NHL/NBA all have. I think 6 teams is the sweet spot, personally. You need to give byes to only 2 division winners, so early clinchers still have something major to play for down the stretch. Everything he said was factual. Lol, you brought the other leagues up.
  10. Seen games at: GRF - always will be home Wrigley - don't hate as much as most / concourses suck, obviously, especially when crowded Miller - awesome tailgating, feels indoor even when open Target - amazing! Roomiest concourses I've been on, lots of seating variety, fun area Comerica - pretty good GABP - generic and bland Nats - felt like GABP Busch - loved the outfield and Ballpark Village / both main concourses are terrible, can't see the field from LD, and UD is totally open (think pre-reno GRF) Pac Bell/SBC/ATT/Oracle - sat in the upper deck, view is incredible! Oakland Coliseum - absolute dump Saw games at - RIP: Tiger - I was in 5th grade Metrodome - obvious dump / saw football there too, which was a better experience Milwaukee County - was falling apart Been inside: Skydome (tour) - was set up for a football game New Yankee (tour, then football) - It's a mall, so bland Wishlist: Fenway - just gotta see it at some point Dodger - looks so cool how it's built into the basin and you park on the upper level Chase - I was supposed to go to one of the games at the end of ST this year, so annoyed I missed out Coors - I ate lunch outside of it in September, at a place with a rooftop in the outfield. Very cool area, Old Western bar strip Petco - looks beautiful PNC - same
  11. Good Karma Brands is. AM1000 is no longer operated by ESPN. I disagree. This is Jason's dream job and I think it'll be his for several decades. He can move up nationally and still do regional work. Brian Anderson is #2 at Turner Sports but still does Brewers games. Sam Rosen & Kenny Albert both call NFL games, with Albert also doing MLB and NHL nationally, while still working for the NY Rangers. Jon Miller did Sunday Night Baseball for years while still with the Giants. These are all higher profile gigs than Jason's CFB/CBB work. If Jason moves up to the Joe Buck/Al Michaels level, that's another story, but he can still advance at ESPN or elsewhere and work for the SOX.
  12. Received an email about a new 10 ticket 'Voucher Pack' they are offering, and from that, I am led to believe we are going to see significant increases to ticket prices this year. $291 for 10 Lower Corner tickets. Do the math, that's up $9.10 from the $20 they've been at for quite a few years now. $30 for Bleachers, are they nuts?
  13. Please, everyone, stop with the bullshit "equivalency". You can't just multiple the games by 2.7 and say that's what would happen in a full season. Baseball games aren't played on a calculator. They showed most of the year that they had the talent to win 4-5 more games than they did. Expectations change, they did not outperform when it was all said and done.
  14. It's not MLB who would care, it's Sportsnet. Minor league parks don't meet the standard for Major League level broadcasts. Pittsburgh and Baltimore are the favorites, as both have hotels steps away from the park, eliminating the need to an auxiliary clubhouse.
  15. Disco Demolition - full game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZaXq338HN4
  16. Hulu is majority owned by Disney and NBCUniversal (Comcast) has agreed to sell their remaining shares by 2024? I believe.
  17. Stadium is a joint venture between Sinclair and Silver Chalice Ventures. SCV is a subsidiary of the ballclub, with Brooks Boyer serving as CEO.
  18. I was at that game too, 6/25/06 (my brother's birthday) on Sunday Night Baseball. We left in the 6th when the rain started, I was leaving the country the next morning. Heard both homers on the radio and watched them lose it at home.
  19. 1) Lee Walkoff vs Flubs - what a scene 2) Opening Night 2006 - one of the most memorable nights of my life, despite all the rain 3) This game, my 14th birthday in 2003. Robby Alomar broke up a no-hitter in the 7th, and Frank homered to tie it right after, then walked it off with another one! In recent years, I'd say Moncada's debut is up there, also because I was in the GR Club for it. Kopech's would be without the rain, the crowd was electric for those couple innings.
  20. They're still probably holding back a lot of tickets in hopes of selling plans. Also on Sundays from May-August, Reggie's, a bar at Cermak/State, buys up a big block of bleacher seats. So if you look at 160-161, the former likely is why there's nothing in the 1st 10 rows, while the latter is why there's nothing in row 17 in up.
  21. Taxes were not included in the price last season. The $7 tickets became $7.84 at the window.
  22. WSI

    What's that?
  23. The funny thing about Wrigley is that it was really a dump in it's time. Cubs fans along with the local and national media, act like it's so great and historic because it's old, but in reality it was built on the cheap with no upper level for the Federal League Whales. It never held a candle to Old Comiskey, Tiger Stadium, Old Yankee Stadium (pre-70's reno), Shibe Park, etc.
  24. As was said, they were expecting 10k less people. Staff don't work for free.
  25. The Sox don't managed the concession stands, Delaware North does.
