Vaughn would not have gotten to that ball.
-
I hate games like this where it looks like it is over early and you feel like tuning out.
-
I think we will know after the first inning or two if the Sox will be in this one.
-
Sox aren't for sale and they won't be . It is a profitable , stable franchise that has some growth potential. The South Loop and Bridgeport areas continue to gentrify and it seems like the cubs could lose some market share as the cost for their fans escalates, and of course, if the Sox win the next one.

The sore loser thing doesn't work in baseball. You lose, you lose.

Start by respecting other posters and their opinions.

I think JR has to seriously consider promoting TLR to some advisory position and hiring Ozzie to Manage the team for the rest of the season. After that, some changes have to be made to the roster...some DFAs, some demotions to and promotions from the Minors, perhaps a trade or two. No matter who you blame, it seems that the Sox just do not match up talent-wise with the top teams in the AL. I am not sure that can be addressed during this season. Hard to blame Hahn or anyone else for Keuchel, Harrison, Pollock, Grandal, Moncada, etc. under-performing. So the Sox are not contenders this season. Try to enjoy watching the games anyway.

If Engel caught that ball, or if Burger didn't hit into that unusual third to second double play, or if Mendick did not try to advance to second. or if Giolito did not throw hanger to a guy who already homered off of him...All that and more went against the Sox in one game. That happens a few times over the course of a season to almost every team. You just have to pick up and play the next day. It's one loss .. not as big of a deal as some posters here are trying to make it.
-
Why not bring up one of our top prospects for a look in the majors instead of Mendick ? Maybe try to find lightning in a bottle at this point.
-
Forget about Eloy, how about some of the other guys on this team pull their wight and start pounding home runs ? HRs can cover up shortfalls in pitching and defense and win games that the Sox are now losing. Sox would have been swept by Boston without Burger's 3 run homer.

1. I never set Vaughn cant hit. 2. I said he has no business playing in the outfield...ever, and that he is one of the slowest payers on the team, which is also a problem on the bases. 3. Let's evaluate this player after the season It is a little too early now to claim he is one of the best hitters on the team. He hit .235 last year and he only has one more HR than Jake Burger now. Sounds a bit like other criticisms of players of color because they dare to show some personality or speak out.

Yes don't forget that. WTF.

I would probably start Gio, Cease and Kopech in the playoffs before Lynn. They may have more gas in their tanks than the old guy by then.

Josh Donaldson suspended 1 game for comments toward TA

"The White Sox Amateur City Elite (ACE) program provides a pathway to the game of baseball for more than 150 youth annually, while offering educational and mentorship programming aimed at pulling kids away from the dangers and potentially fatal distractions of Chicago’s violent neighborhoods. In 2007, recognizing the lack of opportunities for young people of color to get involved in the sport, the White Sox established the ACE program with three main objectives: Gain exposure for young ballplayers in Chicago’s under-served communities among college recruiters and scouts. Reverse the declining interest and participation in baseball among African Americans. Create a program that prepares each participant to succeed in life beyond the diamond." Tim has been a big supporter of ACE and has mentored players including the Cubs Ed Howard because he shares the goals of the ACE program. Any comments that malign Tim's efforts in that regard look like part of an Ultra-MAGA agenda. -
Kopech, Gio and Cease are among the best top of rotation starters in baseball now. Lynn and Cueto are about as good as can be expected for the bottom of the rotation. Keuchel is surplsage. I would make Kelly the Closer.

Vaughn has not been that great against top RH pitchers. AV will get his chances this year to prove that wrong.

Despicable ageism directed at Tony and cheap shots at our players is what one might expect from mindless angry fans.

No salary cap = noncompetitive baseball. -
I saw a Tweet claiming that Vaughn and Eloy were taking BP before the last two home games. I can't vouch for the authenticity of that Tweet, but if both of them are able to swing the stick, that's fantastic news.

Benetti's comment in Game 2 that the bunt was from "some other time" (i.e., TLR's time) and questioning it, proved wrong. That add-on run made possible with the bunt was important. Bunting in the appropriate situation will be part of baseball long after Benetti is gone.

All too often, Liam Hendriks challenges good high fastball hitters with high fastballs....and they crush it. He needs to use off-speed pitches more, and spot them around the edge of the zone.
-
A few posters here routinely castigate the WSox organization from top to bottom claiming inferior ownership and management and a failed franchise. Meanwhile, the last series instant the Cubs and BoSox provided a few counterpoints for those willing to notice.
-
TLR was brilliant. Martinez HR would have only tied the game. The problem in that JDM at bat was throwing a center cut fastball in that count, which TLR had nothing to do with. We would have won this thing anyway.
-
A lot of positives from that game and only one BIG Negative - Super Joe. TLR needs to fire him.
