September 11, 20178 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Sweep! Brewers two back with 19 left. (Divisions in baseball still suck) So are the cardinals
September 11, 20178 yr QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 09:52 PM) So are the cardinals Yes they are, and they have 7 left against each other. Cards-Brewers end the season vs each other, which may suck.
September 15, 20178 yr Mets gave up 39 runs in 3 games vs Cubs Indians have given up 37 games in their last 22 games
September 15, 20178 yr LOL, Lackey and Contreras ejected in the 5th inning today. Anytime you can get both your starting pitcher and catcher ejected in the middle of a September pennant race game, that's impressive.

Still not sure what Contreras said to get ejected...but mouthbreather deserved it. And then having to listen to the Cub announcers whine about that previous pitch being a strike...it wasn't even close.

Surely you're not talking about the one right down the middle called a ball, right?

Anytime you can get both your starting pitcher and catcher ejected in the middle of a September pennant race game, that's impressive. That was a terrible call though, it was right down the middle. Ump probably missed it in part due to Lackey missing his spot and Contreras having to reach for the pitch, but you can't miss that call. Contreras has to stay calm though, he can't get himself suspended right now. EDIT: Actually looking at it again it wasn't so much Lackey missing his spot as it was a terrible framing job by Contreras. Edited September 15, 20178 yr by OmarComing25
September 15, 20178 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Surely you're not talking about the one right down the middle called a ball, right? sorry...didn't think it was even close regardless of badly Contreras framed it. When you have to backhand a ball that's low and away?...that's a strike now?
September 15, 20178 yr QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) sorry...didn't think it was even close regardless of badly Contreras framed it. When you have to backhand a ball that's low and away?...that's a strike now? But it was right down the middle. It doesn't really matter what you think if its clearly over haha its not about where the catcher catches it. Edited September 15, 20178 yr by soxfan2014
September 15, 20178 yr Clearly a strike that was framed terribly. Lackey is still a jerk though and was complaining about strike calls as early as the 4th pitch

September 15, 20178 yr sorry guys...regardless of what anybody's little pitch tracker says...or tweets...or whatever...share with me what world this is ever called a strike. You just never get that call...nor should you.

September 16, 20178 yr QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 05:43 PM) lol...Hawk would spit in your face if you called that a strike. No he wouldn't, because he'd agree with me.
September 16, 20178 yr When you see the damn batter walking back to the dugout that should tell you something.
September 17, 20178 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 06:05 PM) No he wouldn't, because he'd agree with me. hahaaa...oh I'm sure he would.
September 18, 20178 yr QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 09:29 PM) hahaaa...oh I'm sure he would. So you don't believe Narvaez nor Smith have cost the Sox pitchers strikes this year, or catchers in previous years for that matter? Edited September 18, 20178 yr by soxfan2014
September 18, 20178 yr Wait....people are actually debating that that pitch was a ball?? I'm not terribly surprised it was called a ball given how terribly that Contreras received it, but it was most certainly a strike right down the middle. Just goes to show how much pitch framing, both positively and negatively, can affect an umpire's judgement.
September 21, 20178 yr I think the Cubs and Indians are locks for the WS and the Cubs win again. Parade deuce. Cubs and Indians obviously were not into it until recently. They survived the doldrums and are ready to roll again. They have the most talent, folks.

Different sport, same playoff lottery
