Robertson may end up being the cheapest available but I wouldn't expect significantly more than what was initially agreed upon.

I don't think the Nationals will part with Robles or Fedde under pretty much any circumstances, Soto and/or Kieboom, Neuse, Luzardo, Marmolejos, etc. all could be in play if they are serious about getting any deal for impact relief help done.

Sucks for them because their farm is far thinner than it was before the Eaton deal.

The difference between the overpay of the Cubs and Indians when the Yankees dealt away their 2 prized relievers.

Apparently neither of you two have negotiated much in your life.

I expect Rizzo and Nats ownership to kick the tires on getting something done sooner instead of later. Robles is their in house replacement for Harper when he leaves after next season, so I don not think they plan on moving him.

Fedde is nearly mlb ready and I do not think they move him either.

The only prospects beyond those two that will realistically return impact help will be either Kieboom or Soto. Neuse and Stephenson are solid prospects, but Stephenson looks like a 4th OF at the mlb level due to the lack of power and Neuse is solid, if unspectacular.

No, that is substantive commentary relevant to the discussion.

I cannot wait to see Washington blow another one tonight!

Even if they win, make it uncomfortable.

Robertson, Kahnle, Swarzak and Beck would all be upgrades for the Nats.

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong...

Hell, I would give them 2 of the first 3 and 3 of the 4 if the package was right.

Beck has looked quite good outta the pen.

He's been solid, but he's a middle reliever, whereas those other three are absolutely high leverage guys. Teams need guys like Beck to win games, but guys like Beck don't bring much in trades. For the most part, teams can find their own Beck, but not everyone can find a Kahnle or Robertson.

Meanwhile the Nats can't find any

I mean, we've been there, with Beck himself :)

Oh man is the pressure on Rizzo. There's really no choice but for Rizzo to accept that going to get bent over in trades to get that team help. Sure, Rizzo can try trading for more Albers types but he will need a solid closer as well as at least one set up arm and those are going to leaves Rizzo with the sensation of being reamed, again.

The Sox had their eye on Crowe until the Nat's snatched him up. Wouldn't mind if a trade changed his name to 'ptbnl' until the season is over.

Can't do that anymore. A draft pick cannot be traded or a PTBNL until after the World Series of his draft year.

Thanks for clarifying. Wasn't sure if that was part of the changes.

Won't that break the All-Time record for most MLB teams played for?

It won't, he was on the Nats in 2012, so he'd still be at 12.

So Jackson is on the Nats and Holmberg on the Sox
