June 9, 20178 yr Hanson isn't on the lineup card. They may get a day or two buffer zone with the active roster.
June 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 12:53 PM) Hanson isn't on the lineup card. They may get a day or two buffer zone with the active roster. Could this have anything to do with Moncada possibly going back on the DL ?
June 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Could this have anything to do with Moncada possibly going back on the DL ? Or release Everth Cabrera
June 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Could this have anything to do with Moncada possibly going back on the DL ? Hanson would have to clear waivers to go to AAA.
June 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) I'm guess W. Garcia or Engel go back to Charlotte. Engel is in CF tonight. Willy riding with the pine, for what it's worth.
June 9, 20178 yr Maybe the "once a top 100 prospect/late bloomer" magic that has enveloped Avi this year will rub off on Hansen.
June 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) *waits for bad MmmBop joke* More like mmm flop.
June 9, 20178 yr Just the latest step in Hahn's quest to field the most baffling roster in sports. Every lineup card a riddle. Alec/Alan Hansen Geo/Gio Soto The groundbreaking All-Garcia outfield This is some Veeck-ian stuff.
June 9, 20178 yr QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) Yep. Curious to see what the Sox do here. Could always just option Willy Garcia. Or Minaya. Or Infante. There are lots of options. Sox are carrying 13 pitchers ever since Saladino went down. Between Infante, Holmberg, and Pelfrey, the Sox have plenty of guys to DFA to make room for this kid.

June 9, 20178 yr Filler material I guess given his age and lack of accomplishments. And to answer a question earlier in the thread, Sox have the worst win percentage now in the A.L. and the 3rd worst in baseball.
June 10, 20178 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Unfortunately, AAA C Gio Soto was released today. LHP? Holmberg, Minaya, Infante, W Garcia and Engel...any could go. Edited June 10, 20178 yr by caulfield12
June 10, 20178 yr Since no one has posted any highlights....here's a few juicy defensive ones... http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/69972428/v123...y=Alen%2BHanson I'm excited, as there is no risk here, and moderate chance he's useful.
June 10, 20178 yr I'm actually really intrigued with this guy. Top 100 prospect every year up until last year. Been young for pretty much every stop. Solid contact skills, a touch of power and a ton of athleticism. I don't like the early release but his swing is pretty compact and smooth. His results in the bigs have been super small samples, and he's been hurt by some bad BABIP luck. He actually has a 27% hard contact rate this year and he's increased his FB%, so there's a good chance he's been super unlucky on both the power and average front. He actually reminds me a lot of both Leury and Yolmer. My only question is...why did the Pirates release him?!

Rondon just had a similar play...wish they could hit .240, that would be a 2-2.5 war player up the middle. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...83&sid=milb http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=m...itting/2017/ALL He's actually put up a 775 milb ops, so there's some decent potential. If only you could morph Leury, Yolmer, Saladino, this kid...Eddie Alvarez and Rodon into one player. We're cornering the market on utility players at least. Edited June 10, 20178 yr by caulfield12

Josh Harrison, Newman, Ngoepe....numbers game. http://www.pittsburghsports.net/search.php http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1403369...one-knows-about Another reason is lacks the arm for SS. But a Top 50-75 milb prospect coming into 2013. We're collecting those guys. Garcia's. Rymer Liriano. Edited June 10, 20178 yr by caulfield12
