Soria is probably a flip candidate for the deadline.

2 bullpen pieces. Can't complain. It was an area the Sox had to fill anyway.

He makes pretty good money

Trading Jake Peter from a position of depth isn't a bad thing.

Soria is paid $9 million in 2018, $10 million team option/$1 million buyout for 2019.

Considering anyone could have had him a month ago

I wonder how much cash the White Sox are getting back. Wasn't Peter exposed in the rule 5?

How much cash are we getting?

Well, to be fair, now LA isn't obligated to roster him, which with the way they use roster spots is slightly bigger deal.

Trade is official: #White Sox acquiring Luis Avilán, Joakim Soria and cash considerations from #Dodgers for minor-league IF Jake Peter. LAD acquired Scott Alexander from #Royals in return for infielder Erick Mejia and right-hander Trevor Oaks.

This deal seems very low risk depending on how much cash we get back. Two decent looking relief options can’t hurt.

For sure, just meant I doubt Sox view losing him as a critical loss

Tearing up from happiness at a trade

For a guy you were willing to let go for $50k, I agree.

I wonder if this deal helps KC sign one of their free agents or if it is the beginning of a rebuild. Their vaunted bullpen appears to be in shambles.

Great trade for Dodgers. Alexander will thrive there. Reminds me of a younger Britton.

I personally don't like this trade because he's from my hometown, but it's probably a good trade for the Sox.

It appears the Sox did pretty well too. Looks pretty much like a salary dump for the Royals and they gave up a pretty good piece to do so.

Hahn likes 3-way action. Seems like a boring deal that helps the Sox in the long run.

Absolutely not. They are so deep in the middle infield right now, getting anything for him is a bonus as far as I am concerned. Realistically the only thing we "gave up" is the money for Soria as far as I am concerned.

Really nice work for Rick in the 3 way deal to get a player for basically nothing. They have Avilan for two more years if they want.

Sox are getting 3 mil as well

So they have to pay Soria $7 million with the buyout. and Avilan probably between $1.5-2 million.

You can definitely improve the talent levelin your organization if you are willing to take on money.

The fact that no team was willing to take Jake Peter in the rule 5 kind of makes you think losing him isn't going to bite you on the ass one day.

Friedman and Hahn have a pretty good working relationship. Guessing dodgers needed Team to take salary to work out, called one Sox

I always thought when they moved in together for spring training, the White Sox and Dodgers would be making more deals. When they shared with the DBacks, they seemed to deal with them a lot. I supposed they see the other organization a lot.
