**2018 Opening Day Game Thread**

Score predictions? I think the Sox win this one 6-5. I think Shields goes five innings giving up four runs, but the bullpen & offense are able to pull out the win for us. I’m expecting a multi-hit game for Anderson & one blast from either Abreu or Avi to lead the charge.

I've never been less stoked for baseball than I am this year, and that makes me very, very sad.

I'm with you.

Anyone know the best way to stream this through a phone? Does the NBC Sports app allow it? I also was looking through the Directtv app. I can't tell if it will be available for streaming on either.

Might as well get this out of the way now...

Last year Mlb.tv was free for at least a couple days to start the year, but it would not stream through my phone without a full MLB.tv subscription. I managed to stream opening day during one of the free games through a laptop by logging in with my name, but the phone was blocked. The sports subscriptions wont' help you unless you have an MLB account and MLB.tv paid for. If you have an MLB.com account even without it paid for, try opening the MLB.com app and logging in, that's your best bet IMO.

I'm not going to be subscribing this year because there's a good chance I have to move again and not being able to watch for a month while unpacking is annoying, but I'll be a subscriber again in 2019. I may buy the month to month package when the mutant gets called up.

To all Sox fans HAPPY OPENING DAY! Enjoy the game and the season and let's hope better days are ahead!

Any chance of a rainout? I want to see BASEBALL.

The rain chances around game time rise to a whopping ~10%.

Ugh. Davidson hitting 4th. Other than that I like the lineup, although I'd flip Engel and Sanchez. Usually like to put the worst hitter 8th and keep them a bit further spaced from the top. When Eloy comes up and takes Davidson's spot the real fun can begin.

So you're telling me we can put this one on the board? Yes!

No weather problems today or Saturday night. Lopez will be pitching with temps in the 30s on Sunday if they play.

194 minutes until first pitch...

Don't mind Davidson 4th against a lefty, although I probably would have been ok with Castillo. I think I would do: Moncada, Sanchez, Abreu, Davidson, Castillo, Delmonico and push the lefty bat down a bit.

I'm walkin' on sunshine !

Bold predictions today:

Shields goes 6+, 2 ER

Davidson goes deep twice

Somehow moneyline bet on the Sox is paying +114 today. Should be easy money.

Happy Opening Day! Should be a damn fun season.

Yeah, the NBCSN app works great. You can Chromecast it too.

Stop

We need to call rick and get Shields traded so that gif can die forever.

Watching some of the other games today, it would be joyous if our pitchers would actually PITCH INSIDE. I've never seen so many pitchers with electric stuff try to nibble on the outer edges. Miss 3 inches inside your target and blam....
