After what Kenny said I can't imagine us giving Harper 325+

Or is that exactly what Kenny and RH want everyone to think? Then we swoop in and outbid everybody.

(This very unlikely scenario is the only thing that will make the Machado debacle forgivable)

Unless Harper signs a deal for fewer than 10 years but more money per year, the Sox will miss out on both big free agents this year.  And will never be taken seriously again in their pursuit of free agents.

I don’t even want Harper when comparing him to Machado... but it would likely relieve the sick feeling in my stomach.

That’s not happening though.

”Did he sign with the Raiders?”

Stupid.

Not if they aren't exceeding 300 million.

I thought KW was just talking about Manny not exceeding 300 mil. ??

What Kenny Williams meant to say was that the Sox just couldn't go to that 300 Million level....for Machado.  Let's turn this around and sign Harper by this evening.

I do not expect the Sox to get Harper.

With that said, the Sox prepared that video presentation for Harper, met with him several times, and sent Jim Thome to recruit him, at a time when they knew that Harper had turned down a $300 mil offer from the Nationals (if reports are to be believed).

This does support the idea that the Sox are prepared to go over $300 for Harper.  Or they are just terribly incompetent.

Gosh, I don't know, can we come up with any other examples recently of the White Sox believing they can get a guy at a discount of tens of millions of dollars because they gave a good presentation?

After seeing the quotes from Rick and Kenny, the Sox are not going to sign Harper.  Zero chance of it.

When the ownership changes, that's when the culture will change, and not when the current ownership says it's changing.  That'll be an obvious no to getting Harper.

Seems to me like Boras is getting his worst nightmare and the one and only team seriously in on Harper is Philadelphia. That's why he's having Heyman tweet that San Diego is still interested. Padres likely can't compete with Philly, Sox are <300 apparently, Giants are short-term only. Philadelphia suddenly has a lot of leverage.

My last sliver of hope is that the Sox are really shell shocked about this and go into emergency mode and throw 350 guaranteed at Harper.

Please.

The three stooges that is the Sox FO are going to go to Harper and say "You want these swellopts? they CAN be all yours!"

lol.

The piece of hope that I am holding on to is that the White Sox wouldn’t go $300 million for Machado, but that they would be willing to go $300 million+ on Harper. Maybe the marketability of Harper would make it worth it to the White Sox FO.

they were never in on these guys

Rick Hahn needs to be fired and Kenny should leave in disgrace, you guys are a fucking joke.  get the fuck out

If you can’t convert on a tailor made future HoF free agent for you org in his absolute prime because he went at the lower end of the anticipated market rate, and you have “planned” for this...you deserve all the criticism and barbs you will get.  Have at it @Whitesoxa6

Man, I never thought it would come to this, but the White Sox remind me of my Miami Dolphins with Steven Ross & when they had Mike Tannenbaum.... It's the Benny Hill theme song on repeat.

Whoa, Rosenthal saying White Sox offer could have reached $350 million...shit just guarantee $325 to Harper w potential to reach $375.

Curly was great. There is nothing great about the White Sox FO.
