One thing that Dodgers insider fathom referenced is L.A. is interested in Pollack.  That could also improve our chances of landing Harper.

They definitely need a righty bat in that lineup.

And that was his point.  If they trade for Realmuto & sign Pollock they can add two really good right-handed bats to their lineup.  I still don’t see the Dodgers & Harper being a good match.

I'd say the Dodgers are a good match for Pollock with their depth, but they also don't have a good history for keeping people healthy.

  • Heads22 changed the title to Harper: Slow burn

Very similar to what Bucket said. Which is a good thing for us

Hmm rabbit either has the same source as bucket or he is tweeting what he heard here/from bucket.

I find the whole twitter world ridiculous.

Like a palm reader or a psychic.

Let's give the vaguest statements that almost everyone could relate to and watch the masses go wild.

Thanks for sharing and they do make a great for Harper.  Unfortunately, we can’t wait around forever and got to take our shot at Machado if he plans on signing first.

I agree, I think Machado is the better fit overall and I’d sign him and hope we get Harper as a second piece but wouldn’t wait on him

Lol...should have seen this coming after Boras spent five hours with Lerner.  He’s setting up the Nationals to play the role of mystery team despite the fact they have three OFs and have already spent a fuckton of money.  Good luck with that Scott.

Whether it's 10/300 or 10/350, the fact remains that there are no opt-outs (unless the whole report is wrong) which makes it a token offer at best

I don’t trust much of anything in terms of numbers being mentioned. With that said. I really hope the Sox put all their focus on Manny.

I don't believe it one bit and you guys shouldn't either.

The logic: Nationals have moved on. They have their OF and their OF of the future, and they purchased Corbin this off season.

Boras is using this to try to get some market going or get the contracts higher for Harper from the phillies/White sox.

Bowden is shit.

Not sure if the Nats have completely moved on but absolutely agree that this is a Boras planted leak.

I find myself cautiously optimistic about the chances for Manny Machado. Maybe 50/50 at this point? I'll be doing cartwheels if they sign him.

The Bryce Harper stuff I'm not buying. Early on we were hearing about the Sox not liking their chances. It looked for a whole like he was heading to LA. But that hasn't happened yet. My guess is - the Dodgers saw they were the only bidding team that he wanted to play for and lowballed an offer to him. So Boras and Harper naturally get frustrated, and they decide to circle back to the Sox, Phillies and even the Nationals to stir up the pot and hopefully raise the offers. I still think this is all about prying as many $$$ from the Dodgers as possible and that Harper doesn't want to play here.

I get a vibe he wants to be in the middle of all the action. Play in the spotlight and hopefully win a World Series. Signing with a team that lost 100 games last year and had the 6th lowest attendance in baseball doesn't exactly fit that profile.

Two weeks I would’ve said no doubt that Harper goes to the Dodgers, now, I have no idea. It seems like Boras is holding firm at a specific dollar amount and no team is even coming close to it.

I really don’t think the Dodgers want to pay $35M+ a year for Harper, let alone for 10 years.  Friedman doesn’t seem like the type to overpay for intangibles that he’s unlikely to benefit from plus it’s very obvious they’d prefer a RH hitter.

If Harper is looking for top dollar, and we have every reason to believe that, it won’t be with the Dodgers IMO.

If the nationals story is true he would have signed by now

If we don't sign Machado, it seems like it's either the Sox or Nats for Harper.

I find it hard to believe the nats are just going to jump back in when they've got three OFs who all project to be above average in Soto, Robles and Eaton
