So much wrong with this post.  I especiallly love the comment about the Tigers getting a decent 3B which completely ignores the main part of the trade.

Why state all the facts when that would open up the flaw in their point?

And Jennings and Soria based on early returns.  As well as the secondary prospects in the Robertson/Frazier/Kahnle trade. All for Rule 5 eligible (or near Rule 5 eligible) prospects who had been falling.   But this level of talent evaluation is one of the basic reasons they are in this hole to begin with.  Heck the Tigers got a decent 3B for 1/2 a year of Avilia.

Hahn routinely says after getting a player that he's been after the player for a while.  When these guys are 30+ year old veterans, does that have any relevance?

We got given Soria because he was so bad. In fact they also gave us another cost controlled reliever because Soria was so bad.

And we turned him into a top 20 system left handed starting pitcher plus a Latin lottery ticket.

The idea that we failed there is extra  absurd even for someone who specializes in the patently absurd.

Deadspin's not a website that should be talking about anyone else's shittiness. But the fact that they are isn't surprising, since they were originally launched by a company that got sued into oblivion for peddling Hulk Hogan porn.

Kopech doesn’t like it either.

Happy with kopech's first response and then his reply.

I love Kopech response but I also don't mind Deadspin calling out the Sox. Some of us don't like the game of Jon Jay.

Care to expand on why?

Jon J isnt a shitty player. He's not good anymore, but he is far from shit.

Agreed. Somehow Jay is a shitty player but the current CF isn't.

He's no Ozzie. Ozzeroo was the best! Ozzie Ozzie yo ho!!!

Sure. What does he do well? He is old by new baseball standards. He has no power (3 hr in 527 at bats last year), he doesn't knock in runs (40 RBI, 527 at bats last year), he doesn't run well (four stolen bases all year) he didn't even draw a ton of walks (33 last season). Where is his value? I'm not saying Engel is any good either. I just don't see the need for Jay to be annoying me with his mediocrity (at best) all year. I have the right to blast some guys considering I defend a ton of White Sox who get roasted on here.

Let me ask you. Why the heck do you want Jay on your team? Yeah he's Manny's pal, which is great. I'm not discounting that but geez, make him a bench coach or something at age 33 not a lighthitting ballplayer. Just my take on Jay.

p.s. you don't need to give me these defenses of Jay

a.) He's better than Engel (who cares?)

b.) He's not blocking anybody (again who cares?)

c.) We're not going to the playoffs anyway, he can hold the fort until Robert is ready. (not a good argument)

If you like Jay, fine. Just tell greg the truth. You like him cause he probably assures us Manny (along with Alonso and a nice monetary offer by Jerry). Don't tell me Jay is a good addition except for this. I'm not that dumb.

I'm close to never commenting on Jay again before I get in trouble, but I do need to ask you to explain (a), why does he make us better and b.) why does he help the team develop properly? Arguably Engel's defense would help our young starters stay in games longer cause he is one of the best defensive outfielders out there. I won't post anymore about Jay but I do ask posters to answer my points in my last post about him before this one. Thank u.

His OBP in 2018 was higher than any of the active White Sox players in 2018. He plays plus defense at a premium position.

I'm sorry Greg, but you are taking an absolute garbage stance on this. Package his production with the fact that he is Manny's friend, and it is a no brainer.

It's not difficult to understand. Jay provides the Sox a left handed bat that can legitimately play all three outfield positions. He takes Leury out of CF ( thank goodness) and also bridges the gap to Robert, Gonzalez, Basabe and Rutherford.

The funny thing is that Leury had a really nice run there in 2017 where his fWAR was hugely inflated by his defensive numbers in CF.

He's certainly no Engel, but then again, Jay's not the version from five years ago with the Cardinals, either.

Yeah you are right greg, the Sox should go back to tanking.

If Jay = Machado, everyone loves Jay, even those who know he isn't a very good MLB baseball player anymore.

If Jay doesn't = Machado, all the Jay compliments will be forgotten quickly.
