His OBP in 2018 was higher than any of the active White Sox players in 2018. He plays plus defense at a premium position. I'm sorry Greg, but you are taking an absolute garbage stance on this. Package his production with the fact that he is Manny's friend, and it is a no brainer.
January 14, 20197 yr It's not difficult to understand. Jay provides the Sox a left handed bat that can legitimately play all three outfield positions. He takes Leury out of CF ( thank goodness) and also bridges the gap to Robert, Gonzalez, Basabe and Rutherford.

The funny thing is that Leury had a really nice run there in 2017 where his fWAR was hugely inflated by his defensive numbers in CF. He's certainly no Engel, but then again, Jay's not the version from five years ago with the Cardinals, either.

If Jay doesn't = Machado, all the Jay compliments will be forgotten quickly.
