Fegan said in his latest article that the Bailey love is overblown. I've heard the same FWIW.

The injury stuff is being greatly exaggerated.  He has some soreness so Tennessee shut him down to protect him in his draft year.  That's what good college programs do.  If they knew the season was go

  • Whats with you having to compare all draft prospects to failed White Sox picks?

Can't come soon enough

I heard today that the draft will be June 10th. I'm not optimistic that it'll be 10 rounds though. 5 is more likely.

I hate this.  Ugh.

Jim Callis is doing an AMA with us at r/MLBDraft today at 3

Seems trivial in light of current plight but am hopeful the MLB draft is not delayed. If I had the pick and barring one of Lacy or Hancock sliding to 11, I'd try to sign Howard, ideally below slot, then go pitching, pitching, pitching.

I'm still on the Crochet train. If he hits, it's Chris Sale part deux. A plus slider and Changeup with a 100 mph fastball from a 6-6 low 3/4 delivery from the left side. This is one of those calculated risks you take in the spot where the Sox are picking. Could lightning strike twice?

I'm with ya Jack.  The dude is big nasty and left handed. No need to over think this.  I'm just afraid he's not going to be there at 11.

Not sure he'll be there either.

At 11 pick Detmers, Crochet,  or Kjerstad and I'd be happy . Like?

Detmers will be gone.  Kjerstad, another college outfielder?  Why?  I could see Crochet, but he is a massive risk/reward type player.

I really think Sox go HS with Ed Howard or Jared Kelley

Give me a HS or SP and I'll be happy.. A college position player (OF) would be semi-confusing unless someone falls.

Has anyone heard anything about the Sox and Tyler Soderstrom?

I think I've been convinced on Abel, Crochet, Cavalli, Howard, Detmers.

edit: and veen

And I'm not that convinced on Howard, but people i like like him more than "industry" and past several drafts has felt like the good, "local"(i.e. midwest or north) prep prospects that were expected to go after sox ended up really good so now he must, it's science.

Basically a free agency for the undrafted is going to be crazy

I read that there could be more positional players off the board in the 1st because the pitching depth is so prominent this year. Sox might not view what's left at 11 as the highest upside.

Owners are hell bent on saving money so I'm not sure how much they will allocate for FA's.  They may just say here's a $100k do what you can.

So who are the contenders for the Sox at 11? Howard, Kelley, and Crochet? Anyone else?

Hopefully CWS partakes aggressively
