You're clearly not going to get me defending Rick Hahn in any way, shape, or form, but that still doesn't change the reality with Avi Garcia. He would have been more expensive here, on a 1 year deal.

Avisail Garcia in RF for $3.5 million dollars guaranteed (less than the guaranteed amount that Hahn signed the imaginary Jon Jay for), Fernando Tatis Jr. at 3B, and Yoan Moncada at 2B, and the Sox cou

On August 13, Chris Sale became the fastest pitcher in MLB  history to 2000 strikeouts, easily breaking Pedro Martinez's record.

If we offered moncada, kopech, basabe, and Diaz for Sale right now does Boston laugh and hang up?

Right now? no.

David Robertson got TJ. Damn.

And now Chris Sale is seeing Dr Andrews, crap.

If sale gets the TJ that everyone expected...Sox absolutely win that trade with how good moncada has become and kopech set for a nice long run.

Yea it's been a win win for both clubs no doubt: but from this point on it's going to be a bloodbath for them and a massive win for the Sox.

Sale done for the year. Hate to see that. Hope he recovers 100%.

He got a PRP injection and is shut down for the season so safe to say there's some UCL damage? I guess they're going the Tanaka route rather than surgery so that they have him for 2020.

I feel their pain. I remember the Billy Botch year. I wish Sale all the best.

Wish Sale the absolute best.  The PRP thing scares me.  Seems to work pretty rarely, but I can see why they’re being conservative.  Remember when Sox pitchers just stayed healthy?

His delivery is such it’s a miracle he made it this long.

wish the best for him

Semien has 7 RBIs tonight. Oh wait, RBIs ...

Yonder is hitting at a .915 OPS with Colorado through 32 games.

Matt Davidson had a decent AAA season, but never made it up to the Rangers (yet).

He pitched one scoreless inning too.

Avi arguably a better value than Manuel Machado.

Imagine if he were in a NL farm system.  Turn him into a pitcher that could hit HRs.

To be fair the red sox only did trade for 19-19, the extension came after that and has to be viewed seperately.

17-19 sale produced 17 war so it already paid off. Still by total war the sox could win the trade easily but of course concentrated war also means something.

If moncada and kopech become stars I think it is a win win for both because the red sox couldn't wait for moncada and kopech to get good.

For the sox that move was correct too of course even though they would have liked moncada to be immediate impact like acuna or alvarez but if he's good now that's fine too.

I was thinking about players both the Sox and Cubs have traded away or let go in recent years and made a pretty good lineup out of them.  I had to play around with some of their positions but the only true weak spot offensively is Candelario.  I guess you could throw DJ LeMahieu at 1B but the Cubs traded him away so long ago (2011).

SS  Marcus Semien

3B  Fernando Tatis Jr.

2B  Gleybor Torres

LF  Jorge Soler

DH  Daniel Vogelbach

CF  Eduardo Escobar

RF  Avisail Garcia

C  Omar Narvaez  /  Josh Phegley

1B  Jeimer Candelario
