I will believe it when I see it.  Last several winter meetings were snoozers.

Won't stop me from being an incredibly unproductive employee for three days though.

Might be dumb question, but when do most moves start to get completed?

    1. The thread title wasn't created by SoxTalk mods, or FutureSox staff. It was poorly written yes, and then fixed by Mods - so they did exactly what they should do. How is that a reason to bash Future

  • They do. You can say whatever you want about Reinsdorf, but I know for a fact that he'll do whatever it takes to maximize profits.

  • Hearing White Sox came in 2nd with a pretty formidable offer.

I think the heightened activity in the weeks before the meetings is a good indicator that this won't be like the last few

We'll see some stuff tomorrow am for sure, but not sure if it will be a flurry or not.  Tonight is possible - heard most teams were getting into SD this weekend.

Agreed.  But I've felt that other recent WM would be busy, and they weren't.  So again, I will believe it when I see it - but not saying it won't happen.

When Obama is part of the new ownership group In three years will people be "thanks Obama!" When they miss out on high profile FAs?

That brain tumor explains a lot. I expect Kommander Kenny will be part of the next group if this team doesn't ruin him first.

Of the deals that actually happen during the Winter Meetings, I feel like Tuesday and Wednesday are the days. Thursday is getaway day and Monday is conversations.

This is all news that has been out there already.  He is just putting it all together.

Making a 50/50 prediction and guessing correctly does not mean anything. Any Tom, Dick or Harry would not be going out on a limb and saying "Sources say Cole to the Angels/Yankees for nine years $330 million, talks are fluid"

That does not make you an insider.

  • Chisoxfn changed the title to Cole Thread: To the Yankees?

Every year people ask why these fake insiders exist, and question the point of them...

but every year fans link all their tweets and discuss them. I think the attention is what they seek, so best not give it to them.

When was the last time you saw a decimal in contract terms. Over detailing is the easiest way to spot a fraud other than than they 99% hit rate of ‘That guy is full of it’ being correct.

Pro tip: Anyone who has insider in their name is a fraud and not worth your time.

That's almost 40m a year for a guy who will have direct impact on 33 or so games out of 162. I don't think even the Yankees are that dumb.

Lol imagine if Jerry swoops in out of nowhere and brings Cole to the South Side.

It‘s probably the Yakult Swallows.

Does Boras think people are so stupid to believe the mystery team song and dance he does every year?

0.00% chance of that happening

Sox have their “seat at the table”?? Not likely at all.

0.0000000000001% I'd say :)

I'd buy all of you guys a beer on Opening Day.

I will only believe this when DanClarkSports says it

Every year there is a mystery team, according to Heyman.  I’m convinced that Boras flips Heyman some cash to say this about every big free agent every offseason.

Eduardo Perez just said on MLB Radio that he bets that Cole signs for 9 years... he sounded coy like he knew something.

I wouldn't be surprised if this were true.

Come on Sox be the mystery team for once. Ahhh dreams.

That's one way to get the contract value up while spreading the risk out, it makes sense to me.
