January 14, 20206 yr Can't wait for the follow up in a few days when he clears waivers and ends up in Charlotte ?
January 14, 20206 yr My favorite moment of the Covey era is when the Twins absolutely shelled him. He said it was because he knew many players on that team and was nervous, completely ignoring the fact that he always got shelled. I hope he finds employment outside of the AL Central. Now two teams have players he knows on it.
January 14, 20206 yr Genuinely surprised here. Figured Covey was a few guys down the list. We have 5 "catchers" on the 40 man. But not sad to see him go. That said....he's likely to clear, so don't get too excited!!
January 14, 20206 yr Author I'll never forget spending $80 on a ticket last season to see Covey have an infinite era before being taken out.

Decided to skip my Sunday league game to attend. Told my friend I wouldn't be surprised if the final score was 10-1. I think it may have been 10-0. But yeah, Covey started and gave up 5 runs without getting an out.
January 14, 20206 yr Thanks for that awesome game in Boston where you out dueled our old friend, Chris Sale. If he clears waivers and ends up in Charlotte, fine. If not, good luck to you sir.
January 14, 20206 yr He'll get picked up by Tigers and make some starts against us and throw a no hitter lol Edited January 14, 20206 yr by aeichhor

January 14, 20206 yr As much as we didn't want to see Covey pitch, at least that dude was available. Banuelos deserves much more crap for being even more awful and also getting injured immediately.

January 14, 20206 yr Pretty surprising honestly, but in a good way. He was so so bad and I was tired of arguing with people who thought he had all this untapped potential (he might but his odds of achieving it are very slim IMO)

January 14, 20206 yr Would love to look up a thread from 2 years ago...1/2 of this board had Covey penciled into the rotation for 5+ years
January 14, 20206 yr The rebuild is officially oooovvvvaaaaaaaa My least favorite White Sox player of the 21st century
January 14, 20206 yr Ha I saw he was DFA'd in the Cishek thread and I thought "Here we go, counting down to the Covey thread in 3, 2 ,1 .... "
January 14, 20206 yr what was with that six start stretch where he had ostensibly figured something out? was it just luck?
