  • Guys, bmags has made me more confident that an agreement is coming than I have ever been

  • Lots of people care, actually. I want to see this White Sox team play baseball. I also don't want to see friends in many industries like radio, tv, advertising, media, scouting etc fired because there

If any team knows how to handle 8k a game, its the White Sox.

Or not :(

They'll get it done.  This is just more public posturing.  It's been too public to begin with, and now with this proposal coming after Manfred and Clark met, blowing it up would make both sides look even worse...if that's even possible.  I could see a final agreement at 64-66 games.  They need to get it done by the weekend.

Players: We know were going to make $20, but we'll take $10.

Owners: How about $5?

Players: No

Owners: 50% of $10?

Players: No

Owners: 50% of $20, but that percentage only comes out of half of the $20.

Players: No

Owners: Why are you negotiating in bad faith???

Owners: It looks like we're going to make $20 are you happy with $10?

Players: Sure

Things change in the world

Owners: Now it looks like we'll make $10 you happy with $5

Players: No, we'll stick to our deal

Ad covered kits don't seem to bother soccer fans.   It will be weird at first but I'm sure I will get over it

I know I'm in the minority but the ads on NBA jerseys that came a couple of years ago are terrible to me. They're not the sole reason I watch less NBA but it certainly doesn't help.

I hate this, but I hate not having baseball more.

I just hope the advertisements will match the aesthetic of the uniforms (I know they won't).

If they do match the aesthetic of the uniforms, MLB will find a way to ruin it. For example, the Bulls' "Zenni" ad fit somewhat well in 2018-2019, then prior to the 2019-2020 season they inexplicably changed the color from black (a Bulls color) to green (not even close to a Bulls color).

Rays should be a playoff team based on last year's showing.

I agree, not sure if you missed it but I had them as one of the playoff teams. IMO the Rays and the A's are just a notch below the Yankees and Astros.

So essentially, the owners-side leaked out that we had an agreement yesterday to create public outcry towards the players. And it worked.

This whole thing is such a debacle.

MLBPA:  "WhenAndWhere"

MLB:  "July 19, the ballpark"

MLBPA:  "Oh...well, I mean..."

If the owners offer that though, they’re going to look a lot better in grievance battles and in the public eye.

Wouldn't be surprised at all and it would actually be a win / win offer for the owners.

Players deny it, owners win.

Players accept it, owners win.

This happened.

The Zenni is a perfect example of this. It worked well initially, the they made it so bad.

I mean, I bought Zenni frames because of it. They didn't need to make it green.

Except that's likely not how it went down. You are falling for gimmicks.

Are the poor millionaire baseball players allowed to file for unemployment and get the $600 kickers?

Yes, because we have such a clear picture of how team revenue streams work, thank god the owners have been so forthcoming with that information.

Kinda wondering why owners should have guaranteed profit margins at the expense of contracts they've signed and agreed to. It's not like players' salaries suddenly increase if the teams make more money than expected.

You can’t honestly think this

In Texsox' example, the owners are getting 50% no matter what the revenue is. That's what I was referring to, sorry if it wasn't clear.

?

Meet somewhere in the middle and get this deal done. Please.

As someone who does not want to see a 48 game season, a 70ish game season would be a reluctant yes to me being excited.

Does it even matter, tho? Coronavirus is on the rise and will destroy sports.
