Well, they are short term screwed with the massive debt used for fans that won’t materialize for at least a few years. December 29, 20205 yr The Cubs dumped their best pitcher, are in absolute teardown mode, and have zero hope for anything but steeper decline on the horizon. The Sox are one of the hottest teams in the league, just added a top 5 in CY voting starter, and have two months to add more. The general mood and level of despondency on the teams’ respective message boards is roughly the same. “What a league.”
December 29, 20205 yr Remember the Phillies and their “H2O” trade when they acquired Roy Halladay to go with Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt? This reminds me of that. Everybody panicked and were afraid of them but it didn’t quite work out like the Phillies planned.

December 29, 20205 yr Just one mans opinion but I think the Cubs did just fine and Sox would have had a challenge competing with that package.
December 29, 20205 yr These trades look great for the Padres on paper, but the pitchers they have been acquiring have bigtime injury concerns. Darvish, Snell, Clevinger (obviously). I appreciate the effort, but this can easily blow up in their faces.

December 29, 20205 yr Is it wrong to say that I would still take our roster moving forward over San Diego's roster? If we are going to compare the two and we should have 20 million to spend this offseason.

December 29, 20205 yr I think there is no way cubs trade with sox at this point. How is that the best the cubs got?
