So all that "new network, more spending" was bullshit, right?

Well, they are short term screwed with the massive debt used for fans that won’t materialize for at least a few years.

Long term the Cubs will continue to have a significant advantage over the White Sox, at least until there is a change in ownership.

Until they clear up that fraudlent ownership structure, they are screwed.

This guy is a freakin idiot.

The Cubs dumped their best pitcher, are in absolute teardown mode, and have zero hope for anything but steeper decline on the horizon.  The Sox are one of the hottest teams in the league, just added a top 5 in CY voting starter, and have two months to add more.  The general mood and level of despondency on the teams’ respective message boards is roughly the same.  “What a league.”

Remember the Phillies and their “H2O” trade when they acquired Roy Halladay to go with Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt? This reminds me of that. Everybody panicked and were afraid of them but it didn’t quite work out like the Phillies planned.

I know you're talking about the ricketts. That said, If you could choose anyone to be the next sox owner.  Who would it be?

Just one mans opinion but I think the Cubs did just fine and Sox would have had a challenge competing with that package.

These trades look great for the Padres on paper, but the pitchers they have been acquiring have bigtime injury concerns. Darvish, Snell, Clevinger (obviously). I appreciate the effort, but this can easily blow up in their faces.

So you’re saying don’t trade for good players?

That's all they got for Yu? Wow...

That would be fine with me!

AJ Preller just won GM of the year before the year has started. Impressive.

The last time he did this it blew up in his face.

Is it wrong to say that I would still take our roster moving forward over San Diego's roster? If we are going to compare the two and we should have 20 million to spend this offseason.

I’m taking Padres easily

I think there is no way cubs trade with sox at this point.  How is that the best the cubs got?

Money to spend?  I will believe that when I see it.
