  • I feel like Brantley is going to have a Carlos Beltran like aging. His profile is good for aging as a bat.

  • Don't mind not spending 16 million a year on Brantley.

  • Garfien is going to be so envious of the Blue Jays offseason

Go Toronto!

Very interesting to see how that team moved from the AA/Bautista years. Shapiro is good at what he does.

They are going to need to score as much as possible

Good for the Jays.

Nah, a few weeks from now he and his coworkers will be tweeting out about how Eaton for 1/8 was a much better value than Brantley or Springer

FIFY

Damn, that Jays lineup is scary as hell.

If the Jays had any pitching besides Ryu I'd be petrified. It appears that the AL East is going to be awesome.

Sox, Jays, Yankees, Rays, & A's appear to be the 5 best AL teams

As? I'd put Twins over them. As have a lot of production to reproduce.

The Jays still have zero pitching after Ryu, I’m not worried about them.

Lourdes/Springer/Teoscar in OF, Grichuk/Tellez and now Brantley at DH. Seems like there is a logjam even if Grichuk is relegated to 4th OF, unless Vlady moving back to 3B.

Awesome, can likely count them out on bauer

springer snd brantley are two very bad deals... they gave brantley three years ?

He wants to move back to 3B at least.

Supposedly dropped a lot of LBs, but I still dont think he has the instincts or range to be a passable defender there.

They’ll sign or trade for some pitching now.

Yes on Springer but they signed Brantley through his age 36 season. I think Brantley is the type of hitter who should age nicely into his mid 30s, especially if they plan to use him primarily at DH the next few years.

They moved Vladito to 1B, right?

You don't even know the full terms on the Brantely deal and the Springer contract is not a bad one.

I hear you, but brantly is going to be slow and old and not a fielder so they effectively are locking their dh up for a team who has a number of dh options

Until they become the Toronto Padres.

Crazy if you think the springer deal was fine

25 million a year for 6 years? Guy will be awful in three years

There's really no reason to think this. It might be true, but I would say its more likely he is still very good in 3 years. It's not like his game is entirely dependent on speed or he is a huge injury risk.

Brantley seems like the type of player that will not age well but keeping him at just DH may work as he has been healthy the last two years so maybe the two years he was out I am giving too much credence too .

I am thinking there is a Bauer signing coming up which is why these other deals are moving along.
