Guaranteed MLB deal, eh?  Really only makes sense if they think he can play LF regularly because he can't cover SS or 2B.

Leave it to the White Sox to do something weird

Can we stop with all the suggestions that Moncada is soft? In the last three seasons, he has basically played the same number of games as Tim Anderson (actually a few more). And he seemed to have toug

Lol I guarantee you are way softer than eloy or moncada. It’s so funny hearing these wannabe tough guys calling pro athletes soft. I almost always exclusively hear this from old fat farts.

  • I like Jake Lamb. Always have.  I almost posted this the other day when he got released.  I bet he could play LF, he's a very good 3B.  If anything, it proves some insurance for when Yoan stubs his to

Yoan Moncada is incredibly soft.  This has absolutely nothing to do with Covid last year.  He gets a complete pass for everything to do with last season from me.

But the dude acts like he's seriously injured frequently.  Foul ball off his shin, hit by pitch, diving for a ball, etc.  Always acts very hurt.  I agree Moncada is a super elite athlete and I am not really bad mouthing him.  I love the guy.  But he's charmin soft.

2 days ago he lined a foul ball off his shin and on the next pitch hit the ball 450 feet. Seems pretty tough to me.

Meh.  I don't hate it regardless.  Lamb is an athletic dude.  I am sure he can play LF.

Yoan to LF?

Yeah that was cool.  Look guys - I like Moncada alot.  But he acts hurt all the time.  Agree to disagree if you want, but its a rarity when he goes a week of playing everyday without acting seriously hurt.  This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who watches most Sox games.  Regular occurrence.

No.

Yeah, but they just signed a guy to a guaranteed MLB deal who has only played 3 positions and the team doesn't really have a need at any of them, so seems like something is up.

Who is Beckman?

Tim Beckham?  Maybe.  My guess is he's no longer with the org in a few weeks.  Regardless, Tim Beckham playing extended innings at 3B this season would be disaster.

I was surprised how little (any?) spring training PT he got. Marco Hernandez has been playing a ton, as Williams. So, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he wants out for a better opportunity.

Beckham is suspended for the first 31(?) games of the year. Sox like him as the backup to TA if TA goes down. I am not sure on the number of games Beckham is suspended but 31 is the number that comes to mind.

If anything, Lamb grabs an OF glove. He's the fringe MLB'r so he needs to be open to it.

I did not know that, thank you.

Is it 2016 or 2017?

I'd have rather kept Mendick over Lamb if those were the two options.

Its not like Mendick goes away.  He just a phone call away and has options.

Lamb is the depth everyone was pining for all offseason.

Only if Tim goes to C.  That would then put Lamb at 3B and Yermin at SS.

Actually that was more like someone like La Stella.

Wait LaStella was comfortable just being a depth guy?

Sorry, typo. Of course I meant Tim Beckham.

I can't express how underwhelmed I am by this move.

Only analysis I need:

I don't think he would sign to be a bench player. And not for the money he ended up getting.

And that signals an obvious lack of confidence in Mendick...

Clemente did the same stuff. You cannot trust these guys (Unicorns).

Also note that Leury was injured like always. Would love an MLB gig ordering Malnatis while on the IL.
