AL Wildcard with 9 left-

Bos 88-65 (vs NY, at Bal, at Was)

NY 86-67 (at Bos, at Tor, vs TB)

Tor 85-68 (at Min, vs NY,  vs Bal)

Sea 84-69 (at LAA, vs Oak, vs LAA)

Yankees really control their own destiny - finish the season with 3 at Boston and then 3 at Toronto. Their two series will really shake that wildcard picture

10/1: Houston wrapped up the AL West last night, and one more win by Houston or loss by the Sox will lock Houston in as the #2 seed, with Tampa Bay already having clinched the #1 seed. New Y

Going to be a great next 10 days.  White Sox baseball is in limbo and there are some great games out there.

In my world of cub hatred there is a perfect storm a brewing with their three main rivals in the playoffs and the Cardinals being left for dead and now rising like a Phoenix.

Very good chance the Astros overtake the Rays for the 1 seed.. Who would you guys prefer?

I do not want to face the Rays bullpen in a short series.

The Astros losing last night was pretty big for them in their pursuit for the top seed. Sox will more than likely be there in two weeks. That said, I would prefer the Rays for no other reason than I hate the Astros and don’t want to watch them play the Sox unless it’s the ALCS.

This is what Astros TV thinks our starting line-up will look like against them.

TLR playing 4D Chess with TWO Centerfielders and no one at 3rd! Brilliant!

Would much rather face the Astros. The Rays are scarier, IMO. Also, it would give me great pleasure knowing we knocked out the team that put a horrible black eye on Major League Baseball. Also, LaRussa vs Dusty? Like the old Cardinal-Cubs rivalry days? How can you not like that drama? Bring on the 'Stros!

Tony would never do this, the shift is unsportsmanlike. ?

Giants finish with the Padres. Hopefully they clinch before game 162. Definitely want LA on the brink of elimination in the WC game.

Rays 1-seed magic number on Astros is 5,

Astros 2-seed magic number on White Sox is 4.

AL Wildcard- Bos +1, NY —, Sea and Tor -2

MLB.com says Toronto is eliminated, yet theyre only 2GB on the wildcard. How can they already be eliminated?

Maybe from division but not WC

nah it's gotta be an error, they don't show an E for Oakland or Seattle.  sorry for posting this in two threads haha

It’s not an error. One is just division standings and elimination numbers. The other is just wildcard standings and elimination numbers.

Two potential clinches today - Tampa Bay in the AL East and Milwaukee in the NL Central. Houston has a magic # of 3 in the AL West

Houston is 4 behind Tampa and 4 ahead of the Sox for playoff seeding.

Boston is now 1 ahead of New York in the wild card race, with Toronto and Seattle both 2 behind the Yankees. Oakland is 4 back.

In the National League, Atlanta now only up 1.5 over Philadelphia in the East, and San Francisco up by 1 over Los Angeles in the West, with the Giants and Dodgers already locked into the postseason. St. Louis has put an absolute strangle hold on the second wild card spot, now up 5 over Philly, 6 over Cincinnati and 7 over San Diego.

Weekend series with the biggest impact have the Yankees at Boston, Toronto at Minnesota, Pittsburgh at Philly and Atlanta at San Diego.

Rays 1-seed magic number on Astros is 3

Astros 2-seed magic number on Sox is 3

AL wildcard- Yankees and Red Sox tied for the two spots. Game would be in Boston. Blue Jays 2 back, Mariners 3 back after their game is over.

Tampa Bay is the second team to clinch a division title. Milwaukee and Houston can both join that club today.

Houston is 5 behind Tampa and 4 ahead of the Sox for playoff seeding.

In the Wild Card race, Boston and New York are tied for the two spots, with Toronto 2 back, Seattle 3 back and Oakland 4 back.

Padres and Mets were eliminated on the same pitch.

Yankees need to sweep Boston tonight. Unfortunately for NY, their next 3 are at Toronto while Boston and Sale open a 3 game at O's. That is a great race between those 3.

Astros may be losing 4 in a row today. Something the Sox haven’t done since June. As much as they’ve had frustrating games, the Sox didn’t let it get out of hand in the second half.

Oakland walks off the Astros to complete the sweep. The Sox are 3 games back of that 2nd spot. Houston plays Tampa and Oakland to finish the year. Maybe we still have a shot if we go 5-1 in the final week.
