Even though this was a regular season game, I think this home run will be remembered and revered for a long time. And it should. Regardless, I think Konerko's World Series grand slam is the greatest moment in team history.

TA's walk off was an incredible moment, and perhaps if it jumpstarts this team it could be a defining moment for this season, but it was a regular season game in the grand scheme of things.  Could be huge for this team and this new era of Sox baseball post rebuild, but IMO it doesn't really belong in the same conversation as those moments in the 2005 title run.

Even though Pods' homer was a walk-off, there's just something special about Konerko's grand slam to me. 

Gotta compare it to regular season games.

not sure MB’s perfect game will ever be topped for me, but I’d put TA7’s walk off lat night ahead of the no-hitters of my lifetime.

For me, there are so many things special about the Konerko grand slam, starting with Konerko himself. Part of it was him swinging at the first pitch and just launching it. I've watched that homer over and over, and it never gets old. Same thing with Thome's.

Where it ultimately lands on the list will depend on how the rest of the season plays out. If they win the WS, it'll be looked back at as a key moment in the season when the team was just sort of muddling along and blew a lead late only to come back and re-energize.

 

Gotta agree with @lostfan though, hard for any regular season HR to top a post-season one.

I need them to win at this point only because the documentary would be so fucking good (RIP Michael Clarke Duncan). Too many narrative threads.

I love TA's home run compared to Scotty's home run because of all the symmetry.

Both in front of a NATIONAL audience.
Both against a TOP team (Houston was better)
Both were winners after our shut-down closer blew the save in the 9th. (some people forget Jenks blew that save)

Tim Anderson is becoming a household name. He has been all over.

The 2021 White Sox just told MLB to watch out.
 

Technically, is Thome's blast actually a regular season home run as well?  A tiebreaker does not count as a playoff game, right?

Konerko and Podsednik are #1 & #2. I was at WS Game 2 and have always held Konerko's as #1 just because without it we were going back to Houston 1-1 whereas Podsednik could've walked and scored and we still would have won.

Thome's should probably be #3 but this one by TA was really something.

I think you could add in here AJ's go-ahead homer agains the Cubs in 06 to the list...the one where the fans started throwing trash on the field. That one was pretty sweet.

I also think you could add Thome's 500th bomb to the list as well, simply because of it being a walk-off and the way Hawk called it.

I don't think either of those are #1 though...#1 belong to either Paulie or Scotty Pods.

Oh and a couple other memorable ones, Konerko and Dye both hitting #300 (or was it 400?) in the same game against Detroit I believe. That was pretty special.

Kinda cool that I've seen 4 of these in person. (And the Alexei slam that was on the 1st page). I don't think anything can top the PK slam. Losing late in the game and the stadium was cold, and rainy. Then he does that.. I get goosebumps every single time I rewatch that. 

I was at 2005 game 2. When someone mentions that game, Konerko's slam is the image that first comes into my mind. The momentum of the game was against us and I was steeling myself for how I would handle what looked like would be a sure loss that I would have to bear on the long drive home. Then Paulie turned the momentum around 180 degrees. So much was just righted with that swing. Pods' walkoff was amazing, but even that sweet moment already had Konerko's slam baked into the cake.

I can't compare TA's walkoff to Konerko's one way or the other. That walkoff last night was qualitatively different, completely its own thing. It stands apart from any postseason home run and really, apart than any other regular season home run as well.

Not a home run, but I put Crede's huge hit to end the dropped 3rd strike game against Boston up there as well.  Probably also because I was there. 

I almost added Crede's double to the wall to the list, but it wasn't a HR.  Surprised nobody likes Iguchi's 3 run dinger that provided the winning runs in the playoff game against Boston in 2005.  Odd thing about that postseason is the Sox were twice down by 4 runs early -- against Boston and against Houston.  Both times they scored 5 runs in the 5th inning to turn the games.

And duh I said dropped 3rd strike game against Boston...that was of course against the Angels to tie that series up 1-1.  My bad.

I also think alot of people liked that Iguchi homer...just not enough love to go around. 

 

From a national perspective it was probably the most memorable Sox walk off home run. People are going to remember that game, the hit and the scoreboard. You really just cant replicate that from a national audience perspective.

I was at the game for the Iguchi HR and the crowd went nuts to the point of the stadium actually trembling.  Total euphoria.  It was that moment I thought we would win the WS.

Unfortunately, a number of people left that game early…which made it all the more special to those who stayed.

Forgot how those original concrete dugouts looked like World War II pillboxes.   Ugly.

The reason it was huge was because for my money this guy deserves and should be the face of the game. This not only threw the team onto the national stage in a grand way, but it did it by showcasing the team and leagues most likable and enthusiastic star who is honest and real when it comes to discussing the games short comings when it comes to growing the brand. 

It was a game viewed nationally by a casual audience who got to see what a fun baseball player can look like and do for the game.
