Just terrible takes in this thread. Sox won 93 games despite 4 major injuries that cost us a few games. They got outpitched, outhit, and outdefended by the class of the AL and somehow they’re garbage?

  • Balta I know this is your time to shine when you get to tell everyone that they are and were wrong to believe in this team and every move you would have made would have been right and all moves actual

What would everyone’s reaction be if the Sox went after Nick Castellanos for RF? We all know that his defense is not good but he can obviously hit the ball in the air.

I didn't love the fit when he signed with the Reds, but fuckina it would have been better than the route we went. Really worry about just punting OF defense.  Would prefer Conforto, but I guess if we commit to scoring 6+ runs a game, it could work...until it doesn't in October and we're all wondering what happened.

Yes, seems to provide a ton of energy to the team he’s on

This is the difference between the Braves getting "hot" at the right time and the sox staying home.   It would be nice for them to actually work on fundamentals and take it seriously instead of watching the "well fuck it anyone can play anywhere" edition where guys who barely know how their glove works are out in the field.

He’s a good player and good players are in general good, but Seems just a bizarre choice when we walked away from the Astros series thinking we were too heavy on right handed, poor defensive corner infield types and then sign Nick Castellanos.

Definitely screams White Sox tho.

Post an eyewash video or it never happened.

Agreed that it’s not a perfect fit

Oh there are players on the Braves who have said Ron Washington was the key to their season in many ways. That guy has always been known as a guy who preaches fundamentals and works with each guy on the defensive side. Shit if he was the manager here, Tim Anderson would probably be a gold glover.

As far as the Braves are concerned , their front office did a much better job in mid season acquisitions than the Sox FO.  Four players in their World Aeries starting line up are very effective Mid season acquisitions, and all can play RF: Adam Duvall, Eddie Rosario, Joc Petersen and Jorge Soler.  We could have used anyone of them for our RF position.  Our FO dropped the ball adding relievers and no RF, which were available and affordable.  The proof is in the pudding with Atlanta in theWorld Series and the Soxplayinggolfand watching TV at home.

This would of been an interesting hire for the sox.

I hope the first move is to get a new bullpen coach

I still want to acquire Bryan Reynolds.

Too bad for them they don't have a Hall of Famer baseball person.

Alex Anthapoulos  made the right moves while Hahn traded Madrigal and Heuer to the Cubs.

Hahn would be held accountable if this was a another organization with ownership that was less tolerant of failure.

They don't have the pieces to acquire him.

Agreed. If they were to sign Nick Castellanos, they probably need to trade Eloy Jimenez IMO.

You hearing anything about our plans this offseason?  Just curious if you get the sense we’ll be spenders or if we’re going to have a limited budget like last offseason.

You just never know what the Sox offseason is going to look like. They could surprise everyone and spend like crazy or lose out on the big names and sign whoever is left. They don’t need to have superstars at every position though. Something to keep in mind.

I've heard that they're going to spend. I don't know what that means though. Payroll is already pretty high for their standards. La Russa wants to win though, they need players and he's the most powerful voice in the organization.

So it kind of evens out. They have to spend more because of Tony's strategic blunders, but they're willing to spend more because that's what Tony wants.

Why not trade Vaughn instead?  Rebuilding teams probably value him way more.

Not sure that is true. Not getting a RF and adding Kimbrel sound like FO decisions and not TLR moves.  Cesar Hernandez was a move that didn't work out ( so far) regardless of whose input was used.   Tony made blunders but he also brought an injury filled roster through the season petty well.
